About the Owner
Hello. We have been renting our cottage since 2006 and have had many wonderful families/couples stay with us. The cottage is located in a quiet area and we are looking for renters that will respect our home and neighbors. We have been lucky to have repeat renters year after year to share our home on the lake.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

2 traveler reviews
3 couples, life-long friends spent an extended weekend at The Emerald Cottage in early October. 2 couples were celebrating wedding anniversaries (30 and 36 years, respectively) and the other couple just treats the weekend like it was their anniversary...and come along for the JOY. The Cottage felt like one more life-long friend. Comfortable; cozy; clean and very well maintained, it's obvious the owners treat this like their home away from home. Plenty of room inside; a sun-porch that was the perfect gathering spot for catching up on life's stories...with an amazing lake view. But the outdoors of the Emerald Cottage shines even brighter than the inside! Beautiful brick patio and stonework in an expansive area highlighted by a stone grill and fireplace with room for 6 comfortable chairs that warms you and keeps the stories rolling as long as the embers are burning. We had an amazing time wine tasting and touring and even caught a wonderful event (Apple Fest) in Ithaca (short ride). Being more familiar with Seneca Lake than Cayuga...we took the short drive (15 mins?) to some of our favorite wineries on that lake, also. But, our focus was on peaceful relaxation in this wooded cottage, on the sun porch, until dusk arrived and we'd migrated to the fireplace. The owners could not have been more accommodating. Lovely people; lovely cottage...inside and out. There's nothing like Life-long Friends. Sometimes you're lucky enough to come across people and settings that are instantly "new" life-long friends. That's what we found at The Emerald Cottage.
Exceptional vacation cottage
Our family stayed at the Emerald Cottage for nine summers in a row and also for one stay in fall. The listing is accurate but cannot fully convey how distinctive the property is. The cottage is very clean and well appointed. Each year we discovered new features that showed the care invested in the property. The location is well off the highway and very quiet. The setting is gorgeous and grounds designed to make great use of the location. The comfortable patio and fireplace includes a covered dining space for when the weather is not at its best. There are two quiet sitting areas nested along a small creek on the way down to the beach. This past summer we were treated to visits by a resident mink while sitting there. The dock area is very peaceful. We spent many summer nights there watching for meteors. We loved swimming and fishing from the dock and snorkeling among the many friendly pan fish that reside there. Bird watching is great with wrens, osprey, kingfishers, terns, and various ducks present regularly and migratory birds in season, including loons. The screened porch was a favorite spot for reading or watching the fickle Cayuga Lake weather. Proximity to the Cayuga and Seneca Lake wine trails and park facilities made for fun day trips. We highly recommend the venue without reservation.
