Perfect Vacation Home
This home is even nicer than the pictures portray. It is charming and comfy, with plenty of living space for a shore cottage. I was able to easily set myself up for the week and everything I needed was there. I love the quiet of West Wildwood and had the most relaxing vacation ever. But the nights out I spent were just a quick ride away. Vacationing with my dog is a must, so this is a great find for me, and I look forward to returning. Thank you Karin for an awesome trip!
My friends and I just used the house this past weekend and we had a great time. Karin the land lord was very nice and very helpful. The house is small but a good size for a small group and has everything you need. We will for sure rent from her again.
Vehicles beware! It floods!
House was cute and great for pets! Comfortable for four of us and a dog for sure! A little disappointed that it was about a mile to the boards and beach but thankfully we are all walkers and it didn’t bother us.......until the rain. Granted the owners cannot control Mother Nature and we truly made the best of a very VERY soggy weekend. BUT we were instructed three times (on a note left by the owners, and two text messages) to make sure we put the recycle out to the curb on Sunday night. When we arrived the recycle can was already completely full to the top. I’m guessing from previous renters. We were told to place our recycle in a trash can and to put it out Sunday night with the other can. Not a problem. Sunday we placed the recycle out at 9:45pm when we took our dog for a walk. Came back inside and started cleaning up so we could be ready to go by 10 the next day (our check out). At @ 11pm we happened to look out the window and our street was COMPLETELY UNDER WATER. I’m not talking a few inches I’m talking a FOOT or more, Yes. I have plenty of pics to prove this. We own a LARGE TRUCK and it was up to our door. We immediately ran down to retrieve the recycle but it was gone. Floated away. We texted the owners right away and their first response was “was the gate open?” No. The gate was closed to the yard. If the recycle was in the yard there wouldn’t have been a problem but were told three times to put recycle out by the curb Sunday night. We explained that the water levels were up to the doors on our vehicle and the text sent back was “must have been high tide, coastal living”. REALLY. The house is not situated on a lagoon where that can be expected. No where did I read it could flood and at no time were we given a warning by the owners. As a side note they were in the area that weekend as stated in one of their texts. Since then we’ve had to replace the battery in our truck and will be getting the brakes checked. The tide never went out that evening so we left by 5 am so that we didn’t hit the next high tide for fear of losing our vehicle. A waste of an evening. We were VERY lucky we got out without more damage. Hoping we aren’t charged for the recycle as it clearly wasn’t our fault. If we were warned I would have given a better rating as the house is cute. Side note. Bring your own table umbrella for outside.
I have Guest that have been renting the beach house for 17 years and they come back every year. I go out of my way to make their vacations special.
Everyone takes the trash to the curb for pick up on Sunday evenings.
No one has ever had an issue with it , If they did i would gladly come and take it out for them. I also explained that they were welcome to use the large black empty can for the recyclables.
From the minute these guest arrived to the house they did nothing but complain about things that are not controllable , such as a flood light not working
( i asked if they wanted me to come over and change it )and not providing an umbrella to sit out in the rain on a 13 foot high deck .
I kindly explained that i provided umbrellas in the past but since they were left open and would go air bourne and break , it was a safety issue and i no longer provided them. And offered a sincere apology. They also complained about the 9 blocks to the beach and boardwalk.
One should question why they didn't check the address before chosing to stay at the house and leaving un kind remarks on the internet. My guest love that the house is close to all the action yet in a peaceful , family oriented location.
I even sent an apology for the bad weather.
As for the recyclables no one could have anticipated that a long weekend of constant rain and a high tide would flood the streets in a matter of hours.
So trash floating away would have not been a guest responsibility.
Its referenced as an act of God. No fault! Also as they wrote in their review they saw it flooded Sunday eve , why not leave then if it was so bad ? Why wait until 5am in the morning? Neighbors didn't leave.
I never gave them any less then extended joyful hospitality .
This was a freak storm and it certainly did not rise to a trucks battery level.
The saying is true you cannot make people happy all the time.
This was one of those times in 17 years.
Thank goodnes it was just the weekend.
I would have to say that people like to hear and watch negative news before the positive news. I can only suggest that future guest look at my past reviews they will speak for themselves.
If you visit my home i will go out of my way to provide the same great service for over 20 years My guest and their families (pets) are of the up most importance to me.
Perfect family vacation - had everything we needed and more!
This vacation was a breeze! We were looking for a comfortable, quaint beach home that was close to all of the Wildwood fun - but far enough away to be able to enjoy some much needed rest and relaxation. There was plenty of room for all four of us - plus the dog. It was a short trip to the beach where we went almost every day to enjoy the boardwalk and the amusement rides. We were able to cook dinner at home if we wanted to and had everything we needed to make it easy. The house was clean and well-stocked.
Karin was always available if we needed something but there really wasn’t anything that wasn’t simple to find or use. She gave us lots of recommendations of things to do and see, knowing we had never been to the area. And the outdoor shower! That helped quite a bit when the kids came back with a bathing suits full of sand. Great feature.
If you are looking for a place in Wildwood where you can create a tailored vacation experience for your family this is it!
