About Nan McKenzie and Ray McKenzie

Nan's father bought the house in 1969. Nan's three brothers and sister spent the summer at lake Huron. When Nan's father passed away in 2003 the house was left to the children. Nan and Ray have been coming to Port Huron with their family since 1989 with their two sons and daughter. Since Nan and Ray don't live close by they decided to share the house with other families. We are sure Nan's father is smiling from heaven when he sees other families enjoying his house as much as he used to enjoy it with his children and grandchildren.

Nan McKenzie and Ray McKenzie purchased this house in 1969

A common quote from the renters is: 'It's a wonderful property and when we can come back.' Fully furnished luxurious house, large kitchen and breakfast area, separate dining room, Florida room featuring indoor and outdoor furniture and 180 degree view of the lake. There is driveway for parking your car and room in the garage for one car. A sidewalk on the lakeside of the house goes north from the house for about a half mile and is great for walking or kids biking.

Perfect lake house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This house and location are incredible, the pictures are great but seeing the house and view of the lake in person is so much better. On some days the color of the water looks like you are in the Caribbean Ocean. The owners Ray and Nan were very helpful and responded quickly to all our questions. It is a great community with friendly neighbors. It is perfect for families and children of all ages. We have already booked our week for next year.

Perfect place to get a

  • 5 of 5

The home on Gratiot Beach is the perfect location with lots of restaurants, shopping and golf nearby. The home has 3 full bathrooms which is perfect for a group of ladies. We loved sitting in the sunroom watching the water, and walking down the inner sidewalk. I highly recommend this home for your get-a-way.

wonderful girls weekend

  • 5 of 5

Just wanted to put a good word in for this property. The description was accurate. The layout of this house is wonderful. The florida room was a huge hit. The property is clean. Ray was great to deal with. I would highly recommend this property and I have rented many. It is much nicer than the pictures. We didn't leave the whole three days, didn't want to.

Our Christmas Stay 2012

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time I've been home for Christmas in 31 years, no one in my family had the room to host Christmas for the whole family (19 of us). This house was perfect! It was very warm and homey, we had some decorations and a Christmas tree and all the presents were brought here by Santa. We all had a great time and stayed the entire week, my wife and our four kids from Minnesota. We had a huge feast and, due to some of the libations served, had more than enough room for some of my family to stay the night. Actually it turned into two nights because of the winter storm that came through on the 26th.

Thank you Ray and Nan for accommodating us, my whole family said this will be one of our most memorable Christmases. We will be back. Highly recommend!

Silver Sticks Hockey Rental

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house during the Bantam Silvers Sticks Finals, four families split the rental. Excellent communications with the owners, called them when I arrived because I forgot the punch code to the key box, they answered and walked me through getting into the house. They called during the stay to make sure we were happy. The house could easily sleep more in winter than listed. Great location relative to the rinks, grocery, shopping, bank, Tim Hortons, gas, food, and liquor stores. The house is huge, but very warm and cozy. We cooked all of our own meals. Providing home cooked meals for the young atheletes saved money and kept them feeling heathly and ready to play. Four players in the house and they never turned on a tv during our stay. They walked the beach, explored the area, and like teenage atheletes... slept. Neighbors were very friendly. I am sure the house is great in the summer, but for silver sticks hockey tournament, it was perfect. Parked one of our rental cars in the garage out of the snow and used the laundry room daily to keep their jerseys, underarmor and socks clean and dry.
