About Heidi Floryance
We are the Chungs and love the Methow Valley and all of its outdoor activities. Our children, Lilian and Adam, are growing up knowing and experiencing activities outside and not just on their cell phones, which we certainly love.
Heidi Floryance purchased this Cabin in 2003
Why Heidi Floryance chose Mazama
We always wanted a cabin in which to share with family and friends. It's in a great recreation area of Washington state and it is quite different from our primary home. We enjoy the outdoors, the sunny weather, and the beauty of all four seasons. This cabin is our retreat away from the city where we can hike, swim, star gazing, and just enjoy all there is outdoors.
What makes this Cabin unique
Perfect place to be situated no matter what you want to do, whether its summer activities such as hiking, fishing, swimming, mountain climbing, biking, star-gazing at night and in the winter months we have snow-mobiling, skiing (supposedly 2nd best in North America), sledding. And there is nothing better than waking up, walking outside and see the Cascade Mountains up close. If you are trying to get away from the busy city noises, this is definitely the place.

It was really nice! Very cozy cabin in the woods surrounded by beautiful mountains. Our favorite part was to watch stars from a clearing in front of the house - we do not have so clear sky on the East Coast.
The cabin had everything we needed - we used kitchen to cook, and the outdoor grill. There were games for the kids, and the internet: beware there is no phone reception (T-Mobile) in the area.
And the cabin is just a short drive away from the Washington Pass in North Cascades National Park.
Thank you, Heidi!
Excellent cabin, fully equipped and easily accessible
Glad you had a nice visit. Hope you visit us again.
Cute, clean and the perfect location for adventuring
We had an amazing time at the cabin. It was incredibly clean and had everything we needed to have a great time adventuring in the North cascades with our dogs. The beds were super comfortable and there was lots of wood for the wood burning stove already cut and ready. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone! The owners were very responsive and quick to answer any questions.
I am glad you had a great time. The Methow Valley is wonderful any time of year. Please stay with us again.
Love at first sight
This is very lovely cabin in great condition in a very beautiful area. It is quiet and the stars are amazing at night. The guest book revealed that some guests have been renting this cabin for their vacations for 30 years!!! We (me and my husband and two kids 5 and 7) stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed this place very much. The living area is cozy. The kids enjoyed watching Nick Jr on cable TV. We enjoyed the cabin's DVD selection as well. The kitchen is well equipped. We had canned and microwaved foods and frozen pizza that we baked in the oven. There is a gas stove (I think) but we didn't want to bother with cooking. The dishes and utensils are in great shape. The bathroom is clean and adequate. The kids took the upstairs loft queen bed and my husband and I took the downstairs full bed. There is adequate storage and closet space. The washing machine and dryer are clean and functional and I appreciate the cabin's well stocked household detergents and towels and paper products and even found a bottle of permethrin spray when a wasp invaded the cabin. Once a moth came into the cabin when we left the door open and it was dark outside. Other than that, we didn't see any mosquitoes or other insects. There is no cell phone signal but the Internet/Wifi is great and I used Skype to call my voice mail to check messages. The cabin truly has everything you need except for food and gear for your outdoors activities. Would definitely stay here again if we return.
By the way the cabin is located at the northern end of the Methow Valley and there is plenty to do there. The general store/gas station is 6-7 miles away and it is a beautiful establishment with a cafe and ready-made sandwiches you can take for your day out and a great selection of organic produce and frozen items. There is a nice souvenir section too. There is hiking and biking and horseback riding in the summer (and crosscountry skiing in the winter I assume). We drove up Hart's Pass (the highest road in Washington) and that was not for the faint of heart (great views all the way up and down. It was one-lane, unpaved, winding and without guardrails.) We were also able to drive from our cabin to the Mt. Baker area, the Cascade River Road, Chelan and Leavenworth. It is a very good base camp for a family vacation in the North Cascades.
Good overall with some caveats
The cabin itself was fantastic. Very relaxing and close enough to Slate Peak to make a nice little day trip. Unfortunately there were also a few issues. The grill was filthy and caked with grease, to the point that when we tried to use it the grease caught on fire and we needed to use baking soda to put it out. We cleaned the grill ourselves for the sake of future guests because it's a safety issue and we'd hate to see a fire. Lastly, there was a used tampon applicator on the bathroom counter next to the sink---definitely not something you'd want to find upon arrival. (Perhaps left by the cleaning crew?) Other than those two issues the stay was awesome and we would return. Lovely area and the cabin was quite comfortable and beautiful.
I want to express my sincere apologies to our guest who experienced the aforementioned cleaning issues. I will share this review with our housekeeper and make any necessary changes so that this does not happen again. I take the cleanliness of our cabin very seriously and want all guests to be pleased upon their arrival and during their stay. Any issues during your stay, I encourage any guest to contact us immediately either by phone or email.
it was quiet and exactly as the description said
It was exactly what we were expecting from the pictures. There were more neighbours then we thought there would be. But it was still nice. Get the groceries in Winthrop, as the Mazama store was quite expensive. The beds were comfortable. And Ginger "the canyon" dog came every day to visit.
