About Jim Ludwig III
The Ludwig family has owned this property since 1974. It is our private home and we spend most of the spring and fall living on the island. Our extended family operates Camp Bil-O-Wood, a summer children's camp located in Northern Ontario. Because we are in camp for much of the summer we usually rent 4 to 6 weeks each summer to families from all over the northeast. Since this is our three season home we are very particular about the families with whom we share it. Many of our families have been renting with us for more than 20 years. They feel like Bluff Island is their summer home and they treat it that way. Those who share our home are responsible for leaving the facility in the same excellent condition in which they found it upon arrival. We have no cleaning service because of our island location and ask that families clean it when they leave and treat the home like it is their own. This process has worked extremely well for the past 40 years. We hope you like what you see and will contact us to see about remaining openings for the 2019 season. Or perhaps you would like to be put on a waiting list for 2020. Please see the calendar.

Why Jim Ludwig III chose Clayton
As they say, it is all about LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION. While there are many other properties in the 1000 Islands NONE have the views and proximity to the action that we have on Bluff Island. Our contemporary home is a pleasant place to spend a summer vacation. It is close to Clayton for all your shopping needs. You can swim, fish and relax on your on island, at a place you too may someday call home.

Perfect for a multi family getaway
My family has been vacationing on the Thousand Islands for 6 years now. We enjoy experiencing the islands from different homes. However we absolutely want to return to this location.
Our vacations usually consist of 3-4 families coming together under one roof. Such a vacation can be challenging find a home with enough space for everyone without feeling cramped or without accommodating everyone to dine together. This Bluff islands home is the perfect place for a multi family gathering. There are several bedrooms suitable for both kids & for heads of households. There is ample space for small and large groups to come together. The dinning table could accommodate the entire family. The kitchen was well stocked and much more spacious and modern than the pictures lead to believe which allowed for a few cooks at the same time.
The amenities of the property were fantastic. The views from all the rooms were breathtaking. I loved the tub overlooking the lake. The dock was the best we have ever used. All the furniture was high quality and modern with very comfortable mattresses. There were plenty of TVs, a decent WI-FI connection, great decks with lots of seating, and plenty of island to explore.
The care, attention to detail and pride the owners take in their home is evident everywhere. We have never stayed at a home that was so clean & well organized. In addition, the owners go the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
You will not regret staying here.
The best vacation ever! We love Bluff Island
We absolutely love Bluff Island. We first went there as a family vacation in 2015 to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We have had the opportunity to stay at Bluff Island multiple times (2016 and 2017) and have never been disappointed. We are already planning our trip for 2019. It is a place to relax and get away from it all. The house was well designed to capture every view of the St Lawrence River. We had a hard time choosing a bedroom because they were all equally beautiful. The house had every amentity we could ask for - ice machine, coffee makers, waffle makers, grill, etc. The home was thoughtfully decorated with items from the area. The home is spotlessly clean and well maintained and the owners commitment to the property shines through in every detail. The owners were super helpful in recommending sights to see and restaurants to visit. We especially enjoyed swimming in the River, relaxing on the dock, hiking and exploring our own island. Sunrises and sunsets were spectacular. The home is very secluded but very close to Clayton which is our favorite area of the 1000 Islands. There is so much to do in the 1000 Islands, there is truly something for everyone, history, fishing, relaxing. If you have the opportunity to book this house, do it! You will not be disappointed. Our family made once in a lifetime memories.
A Piece of Paradise
If you book a vacation on Bluff Island in this beautiful home, you will not be disappointed! My family and I booked two years in a row. The second year was because my family and the kids (nieces and nephews included!) begged to go back. The views and location are stunning! You can do everything from relaxing and doing nothing to cliff jumping off the bluff, swimming, fishing, boating, exploring and more! The St Lawrence and the Thousand Islands region is nothing short of spectacular and very unique. We watched the amazing sunsets every evening and the shooting stars at night. The owners are wonderful to work with. They take great pride in the property. The house is charming, clean and very spacious. I can't say enough about this home. The pictures do not do it justice. My sixteen year old nephew summed it up well at the beginning of one of our days on the property. He said, "Ahhh, another day in paradise"....
