Laie offers life in an unspoiled part of Hawaii that remains very Polynesian in culture (i.e. very warm and friendly). The Polynesian Cultural Center, Oahu's most visited attraction, is just 1 mile up the road.
The location of the house is unique. The house sits inside a beautiful state beach park. We have a 120-degree view of the ocean from both the power and upper decks. The only thing between our house and the beach is 40 steps of grass field from the park.
Also, the beach easily ranks as one of the best in Hawaii. You will find yourself taking spectacular morning and evening beach walks. Because our beach is behind a reef, there are no big waves and you can swim year rond.
To our left, for half a mile there are no houses along the beach. Just tropical park trees. You really feel like you are on a tropical island. The beach is wide and the ocean is all sandy bottom. To our right there is great snorkeling and there is a popular local ocean play ground the locals call the "Alligator Pond" because a series of rocks in the water look like an alligator from afar. Kids love the pond because the water is shallow and warm so even toddlers can play without any waves (which are caught by those rocks. They get fascinated by the little fish swimming around in the pond.
Also to the left there are great areas for bigger kids (9+) to safely boogie board as the waves are just big enough to get some nice rids.
Our large lower deck is covered by the upstair part of the house. Trees to our right in the park shield the house from Ocean winds. That means you can enjoy every breakfast, lunch and dinner out on the deck overlooking the park and ocean. That is really relaxing.
When we saw this location, it was a no-brainer. The unique location in a spectacular beach park plus a reef-protected beach was the perfect combination.
Laie is a perfect location. About as far away from Waikiki as you can get on the island. It is a great little family-oriented university town with a relaxed local atmosphere. Late has all the conveniences you would be looking for, including some great dining places. We have a shopping center just 200 yards down the road.
Do you like to holiday in Hawaii but want to get away from the crowds? If so, you won't find a better spot than this. This area of the island is a lush, tropical paradise. You have nice views of the ocean from the back of the house. There is a bit of green space between the house and the beach and we used that area for tossing the frisbee. The beach is awesome and not very busy even on weekends. Most days we would see surfers catching waves in the distance. Bring binolculars if you have some. Paul the owner has the house set up great with everything you need. 4 bedrooms (one with 2 bunk beds for the kids) was ideal for us. We had two families of 4 and it worked well. My wife and I got up every morning early enough to watch the sunrise from the beach with our coffee. There is a grocery store a block away and no shortage of good places to grab a bite with all the restaurants and food trucks in the area. The North Shore was a short drive and the waves were getting huge for a few days while we were there. It was amazing to see. There are lots of cool hikes nearby. The weather was perfect every day as it always is in Hawaii. Even when it rained the odd time the temperature stays the same. We would definitely recommend this property. The neighbor Tom and his wife were nice and all the people we would meet on the beach were friendly. Paul the owner was good to deal with and even let us check out later in the day when he knew our flights were in the evening. A very nice gesture and we thank you for letting us use your house Paul. We hope to stay here again someday. Mahalo!
What a fantastic location. Right on the beach front. Plenty of room in the house which had everything we needed. It was great to get up and head straight to the beach and watch the sunrise. The locals were very friendly and greeted us when ever they saw us on the beach. We will hopefully get to stay at Paul Quis house again. the owners are really nice and ready to answer any questions. Paul gave us lots of info before we went and his directions to the house were spot on, nothing is too much. This is our second rental with Paul in Hawaii. make sure you make a visit it to Teds bakery if you go.

We had our whole family come to hawaii and stay in this house that my mom had rented for all of us! Loved the decks and the park, and the beach being right there! We had a wonderful time. The only complaints we had were not only the roosters but the neighbors have some big dogs that bark all the time, it wakes you up but you get use to it after a few days. Theres really nothing you can do about it lol! the other thing we were not happy about was when we showed up all of the towels and linens were on the floor dirty from the last people who stayed there, so we spent the first afternoon doing laundry and trying to get all the beds made. Other then that it was awesome! Also the hammock that is pictured was not there when we were, but not that big of a deal, there are lots of chairs and tables! Its amazing to sit on the deck and listen to the ocean at night! One huge plus was the beach! By far the best beach in hawaii! We were the only ones there alot of the time and the waves and boogie boarding were awesome!! Super close to grocery stores and other things to! There were a few things we didnt like but mainly overall this place was awesome! You cant beat it for the price! It is an awesome vacation spot!
The house is a lovely 4-bedroom right on a beach park, and it comfortably fit our entire family for the week. The house was clean and cozy, and in the perfect location for us. Overall we loved our stay, but before coming you should know there is a rooster that lives next door who will start crowing around 3 a.m. and crows every few minutes till around 9 a.m. Not a huge bother, but it might disturb you if you're a light sleeper so a pair of earplugs could serve you well.Other than that, everything was awesome. I would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay.
The house is a lovely 4-bedroom right on a beach park, as it says. The house was comfortable and clean and in the perfect location for our needs. Overall we loved our stay, but before coming you should know there is a rooster that lives next door who will start crowing around 3 a.m. and crows every few minutes till around 9 a.m. Not a huge bother, but it might disturb you if you're a light sleeper so a pair of earplugs could serve you well. And some nights he crows less than others. Other than that, everything was awesome. I would definitely recommend it as a great place to stay.
This house was great for our whole extended family. Kitchen and lanai were well stocked. Lots of beach stuff and terrific beach location. My family is pretty wired and the internet was great. Commuting to Honolulu is a drive but almost anywhere else on the island is easy to get to. We'd highly recommend this place for a great stay. Our only complaint was that the trade winds shut down while we were there and the house doesn't have air. Still this was only 3 of 10 day stay. When the breeze was up the temperature was pleasant.

The house is just 40 yards from the water. Our beach is nothing less
than spectacular. A long wide stretch of white sandy beach aliong a
beautiful state park (so no homes along the water). Children can
safely play in the shallow, crystal clear water along the beach.
The ocean in front provides for great snorkeling, swimming and boogie
boarding. If you enjoy fishing, go no further than the beach in front
of the house.
You can take nice long walks along a mile of tropical sandy
beach. The park is kept in immaculate shape and provides a large
playing ground.
Note: We do not provide the hammack you see in the picture because of liability.
The house is located only minutes from many of Oahu's top tourist attractions, including: Polynesian Cultural Center (5 min), Sunset Beach, Waimea Fall Park (20 min), Koala Ranch (horseback riding and beach activities) and Turtle Bay (10 min) for some of the best golf in Hawaii.
