Awesome Location

  • 4 of 5

This was our 2nd time staying at the nugget for a Purgatory Ski Trip. The location is perfect and beautiful. It is easy to find, right off the highway, which you can hear while sitting in the hot tub. The hot tub took about 18 hours to get hot enough. The owners were notified and checked it out promptly. The 2 coffee pots are both calcified and literally take at least an hour to brew. If you NEED your coffee I recommend bringing your own pot! The Nugget was remolded this past year which made it nicer. The beds are comfortable and once you get the fireplace going (a challenge) it warms up nicely.

Owner's Response: We received a message from Sarah that the Hot Tub was not as hot as she hoped it to be and the coffee maker took longer to brew than she appreciated. Along with my husband and two daughters, I was at the cabin with 10 minutes to check on the issues. When we arrived, the Hot Tub temp was 104 degrees and barely touchable. At this point we were confused? Sarah seemed satisfied with the temperature but not friendly or happy. We keep the hot tub (year round) at 100 degrees so we don't have any heating issues. The hot tub settings allow guests to raise the temperature to 104 degrees, which usually takes 7-10 minutes depending on the season. Since the hot tub is already heated, our guests greatly appreciate the convenience and have NEVER complained about the temperature of the hot tub. (Please read all other reviews.) As for the coffee taking longer to brew than Sarah was satisfied with, we apologize. We informed Sarah there was a 2nd coffee making under the cabinet in case of emergency. We love and need our morning coffee as much as anyone so we provide; coffee, creams, sugars, and a back up coffee maker. We have since replaced the coffee maker with a new one and hope that no one has to wait for their coffee to brew longer than they anticipate in the future. Our wood burning stove, like all wood burning stoves, takes a while to heat the entire space but when it heats up, it really cranks. Fortunately, we have two other heat sources in the cabin, propane heater and electric heat. The guest experience at our Nugget Cabin is a source of pride for us and we work very hard at making your trip a beautiful experience in the Rocky Mountains. We don't believe that The Nugget Cabin and Sarah are a good fit and she is not welcome back, certain people can never be satisfied. Please read through all other reviews of the Nugget to gain and holistic understanding of us and the Nugget. Warmly, Regina

Fabulous mountain cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful 2 night stay at the Nugget cabin in Purgatory. From the well-stocked kitchen, cozy wood-burning stove, & the incredible collection of LPs (including some old-time Christmas ones that really took me back to my childhood), to the awesome hot tub & beautifully stunning mountain backdrop, we could not have been happier. Regina was so great too, with detailed directions and quick answers to all of our questions. Whether you're looking for a romantic mountain getaway (we'll have to return for that) or have a group of people like we did (6 total - a little cozy, but totally worked) the Nugget is ideal. Thanks so much Regina - we can't wait to come back!

Great place to stay

We really enjoyed our time here. With the summer crowd in town, we enjoyed staying here away from the crowds. The cabin had everything we needed.

Picturesque cabin in a great location

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at the Nugget cabin! The inside was even nicer than in pictures and it was great to hang out outside by the fire or in the hot tub after a long day! Great location to use as a starting point for fishing, hiking and exploring the nearby mountain towns. The grill and tools for the grill need some updating but other than that everything was great! I would absolutely return.
