Super Awesome Vacation Stay

  • 5 of 5

My brother has 5 kids and we have 4. Between our 2 families we have 13 of us all together. We stayed at the Sleepless in Seattle House during the first week of April 2016. I think it was one of our favorite vacations we have had as a family in many years. The House was very spacious and Clean. There are many decks to sit on and just chill out while having morning coffee or just hiding out from the Florida sun if you got too much of it that day. The pool was a blast and also very clean. We spent many afternoons just enjoying the pool area. The Beach on the Gulf Coast is very close by and easy to access, we took many daily walks as a family on the Ocean and had a wonderful time. We even swam in the gulf some, it was fairly warm for April. All in all it was a great place to stay. The house is located in a gated community in an area on St. George Island called the Plantation. It was a super quiet area with a little something to do for everybody, or nothing to do at all if you chose. There are bikes to ride around the island on. There is a club house with a bigger pool nearby. Although our 2 families with 9 kids were content to either hang at the pool at the house or go out to the Gulf and play at the beach. One day we did drive into Apalachicola, a town near by- we had an incredible dinner there and my brother and I found a brew pub. Some of our kids are old enough to drive for us, so that worked out well.

This is a great place to stay for families, there is tennis, swimming, bikes, beach, walking paths & of course the house is clean and has a nice kitchen in it. The 9 kids and parents spent many nights playing cards or games at the large table in the dining room area. Lots of laughs were had by all. The Wi-Fi and Mobile phone coverage is not always perfect, but that may be one of the best things about it. You truly can "unplug" while you are here. Although there is Wi-Fi and there is mobile service in certain areas of the house. So I was able to get some minimal work done while there (I try not to work on vacation, but had a couple of projects going on), I would highly recommend this house and my wife said she would love to come back again some time. Thank you for the wonderful home. This truly was Old Florida with not a lot of commercialization, but we were never board. We truly had a great and relaxing time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. We work hard to supply and maintain Sleepless In Seattle so all our guests, big and small, young and not as young can enjoy it. St. George Island is not for everyone, but for those who can appreciate one of the last uncrowded beaches in America, it is truly a special place to vacation. Thank you again.

Relaxing in Seattle

  • 5 of 5

Let me get my only complaint out of the way first - there was only one living space for all to gather. This only presented a problem when my 3 boys felt obligated to play X-Box from morning until the beach. Every room had a TV...but the only TV for everyone had the X-Box. If the X-Box could be moved to the BUNK room, that would work my opinion. NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF. The house was clean. The kitchen was very useful with tons of pots and pans of various sizes. We cooked 4 of our 7 evenings down there. The pool was exactly what we needed after hours at the beach. Some days we stayed at the pool longer than the beach. The walk to the beach was effortless...especially when we got to use the large beach cart. Being the 3rd house back from beachfront wasn't that big of a deal. And the savings was huge. The walk wasn't. You MUST bring a gazebo. It allowed for us to stay out in the sun for hours. The beach is so beautiful, with the pure white sand. When we arrived, for some reason the Gulf resembled the Atlantic with the waves. By the time we left, the Gulf had settled and there was virtually no wave noise and the water was so calm, that the dolphins swam with in feet of us multiple times. I even was lucky enough to see one jump completely out of the water! Just an amazing sight. The privacy of the plantation side is immediate. There is simply more beach than occupants on this side. If crowds are your thing - hit the beach directly in front of the St. George Island bridge. I absolutely loved my stay at "Sleepless". I will be back. The joint was perfect for my family of 5, my sister and her family of 4 and the grandparents. There really wasn't a detail overlooked. I could go on and on...more than I've already had. I absolutely will (and already have) recommend this to friends/family. This review is long - but I have put a lot of time in reading the reviews of every house I checked out. I'm not pulling punches here at all. Sleepless was perfect. The walk to the beach really was easy. The hardest part of the walk is what makes the beach hard for EVERYONE - the sand is so soft, it's a workout to walk through. But I'll take that any day over my grass or sidewalk. I checked out (from my daily grind) while down there. It's is so relaxing. It's perfect for all. I wish I was still there. Thanks for sharing your house with us!

Owner's Response: Thanks Ed for the positive comments. We try very hard to keep Sleepless perfect for all guests. Our kids also love the XBox. We just returned from Sleepless, we added a couple of new bikes and new pots/pans, along with a couple of new chairs for living room. SGI and especially The Plantation is a very family oriented, restful place to take a true vacation.
