About Christopher Bean

The family homestead has been in our family since the 1940s. It is a classic and beautiful beach home that is fully updated yet retaining the style and charm of its original character.

My mother, Shirley Bean, is 90 and still visits The Fellows House in the summer to occasionally welcome guests to the home that was her summer retreat in the 1940s when she was a teenager. She delightfully tells stories of growing up summering on The Point and how, in so many ways, time has stood still for this tranquil and scenic seashore.

Christopher Bean purchased this house in 1942

Why Christopher Bean chose White Horse Beach

The location is second to none. The land surrounding the home is exceptional and one of a kind -- providing direct access to a sugarsand beach as well as a lovely and gracious manicured lawn for family activities.

What makes this house unique

Seabreeze. Views are amazing! You will feel as though you're on a cruise ship looking out onto the crystal clear waters of Cape Cod Bay!

Beautiful location, Lovely home.

  • 5 of 5

We spent the fourth of July week at the Fellows House. The house is beautifully furnished and very clean inside and out. The dining area has a large picture window and breathtaking views of the ocean as do most all windows of the house. The kitchen was well stocked with Pottery Barn dishes and plenty of cookware. The two car garage was very nice with garage openers provided. My husband and I rented the property and invited our son, his wife and our twin granddaughters age 4 to stay with us. We enjoyed the beach which is minutes away and the weather was superb. We spent much of our time on the wrap around porch, dining and relaxing. I did not mind bringing our own linens since we drove from Michigan but the one thing the adults agreed we would change were the queen beds. We felt that they were too soft and not very supportive for such a high end rental.

On the last day it rained and we went to the Natural History Museum in Brewster which the children loved. We would also recommend the Mirbeau Spa which is nearby and provides a relaxing environment for pedicures, massages, etc.

Our granddaughters who love to watch the cartoon Peppa Pig called it our "holiday house" and it was just that, a lovely holiday home!

Lovely, inviting home

  • 5 of 5

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Fellows House. There were many, many things we loved. The house has been updated inside with tasteful decor, very comfortable and ample seating inside and out. Kitchen was well stocked with quality dishes, utensils, knives, and cookware, including household things like saran wrap, dishwasher and laundry detergent, which made cooking a pleasure. Quality appliances. Two large flat screen TVs. Living room space is much larger than pictures. There are three very desirable outdoor spaces--two in the front and back of the covered porch which are ocean view and street side; one in open space to the side of the house. The view is as promised, loved watching the tide in and out each day. Beach is not crowded, full of wonderful colorful pebbles, we spent hours walking on the sand. Location easy to drive to other restaurants, or to downtown Plymouth to see the Mayflower and Plymouth Plantation. Walking to the Lobster Pound to buy fresh seafood for dinner was a treat--about a 1,000 steps away. Owner was pleasant to deal with, responded quickly to our texts. The place was very clean when we arrived. The upstairs bath if 3/4 with a shower (no tub). We were one family, and only used three bedrooms, so sharing 1 1/2 baths worked, but might be crowded for a larger group.

Things we would improve: while there are two high quality beach chairs, more are needed. Downstairs half bath needs a towel rack as there is no where to hang a hand towel . Sheets, linens and beach towels are not provided--which is a challenge for those who travel via plane and surprised considering the cost. The septic system only allows for one load of wash per day. One thing we didn't like: the closest neighbor played loud music on outdoor speakers for several days--so loud we could hear it when inside the house and we found it too disruptive to read on the porch. Several hours after being asked, they turned it lower, but we could still hear clearly it when sitting out on the porch over the next two days.

Owner's Response: We value feedback from our guests and have already installed the towel bar as mentioned and are ordering additional Cape Cod Beach chairs -- the best on the planet - for the 2016 season. We have since installed a new washer and dryer at the property which are both eco-friendly and allow for additional loads of laundry each day with our septic system. We have a very tight-knit coastal community neighborhood which has collectively addressed the music issue (noted above) as a neighborhood -- apparently the neighbor's son hosted friends at their beach home for a 3-day weekend without the parents being present. The music issue was a one-time event -- never has happened before and never has occurred since -- which the family has addressed and have promised everyone in the neighborhood will never occur again in the future. We take great pride in our property as this review highlights. We hold our property to the highest standard and do everything possible to ensure that our guests have an exceptional experience and a memorable seaside retreat.

A Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week stay at the Fellows House and it was a perfect vacation. The house is situated right on the ocean; the large wrap-around porch overlooks the beach and the coastline and the open ocean. It is a completely unobtructed view from the porch (we spent most of time out there), from the bedroom windows (lay in bed and listen to the ocean and watch the tide go out), and from the huge picture window in the dining room (with comfy rockers to sit in). We could not think of a reason to leave the house. We spent such relaxing and restful days walking down to the beach (right in front of the house), reading on the porch, watching the incredible sunsets, and eating all our meals overlooking the ocean. You couldn't get a table with a view like this at any restaurant. We prepared our meals in the well-equipped kitchen, and was able to get fresh seafood at the Lobster Pound (walking distance). We didn't need to worry about forgetting anything because the Stop and Shop, and the Dollar Store (and the liquor store and Dunkin Donuts) are all a very short drive away (less than a mile). The house is located in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. It is not commercial or touristy. The beach is not crowded; the water is shallow and the waves are gentle. We parked in the garage and kept all our beach gear in the garage. The house is incredibly comfortable and well-kept. The owner was very responsive to questions both before our stay and during out stay. We already miss our beach house, and can't wait to go back next summer!! We all kept saying that we don't know why anyone would go to Cape Cod when you go to Plymouth and have an incredible experience without all the crowds of the Cape.

Also of note: My sister who traveled with us is handicapped, and there is a boat ramp down to the beach that worked so well for her. Also the first floor of the house is handicapped accessible: right on the street level with no steps in. However, the bedrooms are all upstairs.
