Charming, great location, comfortable!
Pre-holiday trip to Charleston - a return after about 15 years for me and a first time visit for my fiance. This guest house is quaint & comfortable and in a great location for walking to great restaurants, shopping, or sight seeing. Owner has plenty of tourist information handy and is most friendly and accommodating. Quiet neighborhood - although the college was mostly on break. We only had breakfasts in, but the kitchen is well appointed for simple cooking and dining needs. Great fireplace and comfortable furnishings. Would love to stay there again!
Cute Little place!
May 2014 we had took our very first vacation to Charleston. It was only about two weeks prior that we had chose to do this and found 6 Ambrose Alley. BUT It was the best thing we could have done. We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful Kitchen house. It's perfect distance to everything. We walked nearly everywhere from the house to King's St. to Rainbow Row to the haunted Jail to the Pineapple Fountin on Vandue Lane. One of our best vacation spots we've been to and we cannot wait to plan another trip with 6 Ambrose Alley being our home for a week or two. Thank you so much Norman!
Cozy, Comfortable Kitchen House
The House was a delightful, homey place to come home to after a day around town. It was very clean, was spacious for our needs, and well accomodated us and our two small dogs. Let me impress that it was VERY clean in spite of the fact that it is a pet/dog friendly rental. Clearly the owners take pride in the caretaking of the home; and the gentleman owner is happy to provide tips and suggestions about Charleston. The house was fully furnished with enough sitting areas and tables that it was easy to sit or place our things around. We had two other guest join us for one night, and they, too, enjoyed the comfortableness of the living room, the beds, and the equipped kitchen, etc. We will return to Charleston for another visit and will try to rent this same home again. Thank you!
Full week planned for Charleston
Thank you for having us stay in your wonderful home full of cherubs and warmth. It was a nice week. This is a perfect location. We had a full week planned but thanks to your brochure we fit in the tea plantation. I'm a big tea drinker and it was an amazing tour. The gift shop broke the bank. Hopefully, the rain stops tomorrow as we're driving straight through to be home for Easter. Thank you again, Steve & Kym Ohio
A little piece of paradise
We love this spot! Having stayed in this house for a month two previous years, my husband and I recently returned for a two-week visit, and were even happier with this spot than ever before. Quaint and comfortable, this house is so much more. It is immaculate and nicely furnished. The house now has a brand new bathroom and laundry facilities, and the kitchen is more than adequate for eating "at home" (we ate two of our three meals in with the third out at one of the many wonderful Charleston restaurants - Hominy Grill is a must and Jack's for breakfast is a delicious local spot). We love the back patio - absolutely delightful - and the beds are very comfortable. Ceiling fans and the heating/cooling system make the house comfortable in all kinds of weather. And while the house has the modern conveniences that you would want, the historic charm remains. We found the house plenty large enough for us (three rooms on each floor), even when our friends visited for a few days during a previous stay. The location of the house is perfect - it is an easy walk downtown (go through the College of Charleston campus, a nice walk in and of itself) with restaurants and necessities located within a mile. You can also stroll straight down the street all the way to the harbor, the most beautiful walk in the evening. And it is central to the greater Charleston area with easy access to the highways that lead to the many sites of Charleston. Even the immediate surroundings are pleasant; the house is located in a small enclave of attractive townhouses. Finally, all of our contact with the owner was very positive. He was accommodating and anxious to make our stay a good one. We also found the cost to be very fair. There is no wi-fi in the house, but the owner did say we could arrange for it if we chose. We did not; the Smith and Bull Cafe a block away has free internet, good food, and delightful people, and there are three Starbucks within walking distance. So, would we return? Yes, in a heartbeat! And would we recommend this property to a friend? We have already! For us, this is a little piece of paradise in a beautiful city. We can't wait to come back!
Fair price, Clean, Great Custom Service, Nice home
We arrived early for our two week honeymoon, so the cleaners were finishing a very thorough job of sanitizing the home and the linens. This house has charm and is warm and cozy. Some of the decorations are a bit different for our taste but all in all it's ok. The house has tons of natural light and a good heating and cooling system. The beds are ok, it took several nights to find out which bed was best for us to sleep in. Almost like the three bears one was too soft for us, one too, hard for us and the other was just right and we awoke refreshed and without back ache. I thought the location was good but the parking is tight and getting in and out is a bit of trouble. everything in the house works perfectly and having the dishwasher was so convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 6 Ambrose Alley and will absolutely stay here again. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. He made every effort to help us. I must say I was very pleased with the whole experience.
