Private, romantic getaway in stone cottage near Mena, AR, in the Ouachita Mt

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED! We want you to have a lovely stay! The Willowbrook Nest is located in the heart of the Ouachita Mountains, where you can enjoy wonderful outdoor activities as well as shopping and dining, art galleries, and live theater (in season).

Willowbrook Nest, part of the beautiful Willowbrook Cottage stone manor house, built around 1920, has been converted into a delightful private English-style vacation rental, with its own separate space and gardens. It lies within easy driving distance (2 1/2 miles) to the charming town of Mena, Arkansas, but remains tucked away in a very private setting among the "Shady Mountains," in the heart of the Ouachitas. Mena offers great antique shopping, restaurants, live theater (in season), beautiful scenery, and outdoor activities. Additionally, almost equidistant between Hot Springs, Fort Smith, and Texarkana, this holiday cottage makes the ideal base for exploring the many amenities each provides. Enjoy a day out at the Crater of Diamonds, Rich Mountain, Little Missouri Falls, or the Talimena Scenic Drive, which provides excellent views over the mountains of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

The Willowbrook Nest is, we think, the most charming place in Arkansas! When you drive in through the ivy-covered stone gates, you will be delighted to find a 100 year old stone cottage, smothered in ivy and roses and hundreds of varieties of old fashioned perennials and annuals, with the Nest a private part of it. Guests say it is like a Thomas Kinkade painting! (The other part of the cottage is the owners' private quarters.)

Willowbrook Nest is a storybook dream cottage with flower gardens and jacuzzi bathtub. It is so charming and beautiful. A wonderful little hideaway, with loft bedroom and second story deck up in the treetops (hence the name 'Nest'!). It has 1 queen bedroom, den with recliners and fullsize futon, DVD/VCR, movies, books, games, cable TV, WIFI, furnished kitchen, sunroom with dining area, jacuzzi bathtub and shower, private patio.

Just minutes from cute county-seat town of Mena, with restaurants, art galleries, shops, and year-round outdoor activities. Easy access to Queen Wilhilmina Lodge Restaurant,, Ouachita River, and Wolfpen Gap.

You will agree with one guest who wrote in the guest book, 'I felt like

I was in the middle of a romance novel...' It is perfect for honeymoon,

anniversary, or any special occasion.

One guest wrote, 'It was like a fairy tale hated to leave.'

From the Owner

Over 25 years ago, we went to visit the author Vera Petrocet, one of the first female radio hosts, at her charming stone cottage just outside Mena, AR, for her review of Thomas' book he was writing. When we left, I told Thomas, "If that cottage ever goes up for sale, I want it!" A few years later, I was looking at Mena paper, and saw an ad that sounded so much like that cottage that called the realtor, who was just closing the office, and asked if i could see it. She said ok, and I was thrilled as we arrived to see that it was indeed the historical home of Vera Petrocet! I called Thomas, and he came right over, and we bought it! It has been a labor of love for 20 years, as we completely renovated it and added rooms. It is a large, stone country manor house, with quarters for ourselves and a totally separate rental for guests of The Wilowbrook Nest. Come see us!
