The chalet was designed for family gatherings, or for multiple couples to share lodging. Very clean and well appointed. Spacious with a great layout to share time together. Highly recommended!

Well equipped house

  • 5 of 5

This was a great base for activities at Crystal Mountain Resort as well as outings to Frankfort, Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes, etc. Very well equipped kitchen and home. If you're coming with a baby, note no crib or high chair, but one bedroom has a closet large enough to conveniently accommodate a pack and play if you bring your own. Owners were very responsive and helpful.

Awesome place for large family groups in Benzie county!

  • 5 of 5

We rented Northern Exposure, along with another near by house, for a family reunion (Mom's 80th birthday) celebration in August 2017. The Northern Exposure home was our main base, and we were able to comfortably host a party for 20+ people, as well as routinely sleeping 8-10 of our family members. We did wind up cleaning out the gas grill, and there is a dehumidifier that needs to be emptied a couple of times a day, but those were very minor chores, in exchange for a wonderful stay. The location worked really well, even though we really didn't do anything at Crystal Mtn itself (although we were offered some discount tickets for the alpine slide and other summer attractions). It was basically ~ 20 minutes drive to lots of great Benzie county attractions (Frankfort beaches, Cherry Hut in Beulah, Sleeping Bear and wineries in Leelanau). It was also central for some of the extended family that drove from Traverse City and Hart for the party. We also had an issue with our math skills on dividing up the cost, so we were short on the deposit, and USPS took about 3 weeks to deliver the certified check for the remainder, but Mary Kay was absolutely great about the whole thing. We will definitely return next time we can pull together a family trip to our favorite place in the world - Benzie county. Absolutely recommend this place for any large family groups who want to vacation in the area.

Great Michigan getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Had a fantastic week at the Northern Exposure Chalet. Mary and David were excellent hosts and communicated promptly and clearly. The home itself was perfect for our group of 8 adults and 4 children (all under age 5). We had plenty of room for sleeping, cooking, and relaxing. The location was ideal, walking distance from Crystal Mountain (we used the pool and the alpine slide both of which the kids enjoyed), 45 minutes from Sleeping Bear Dunes, and 25 minutes from Frankfort. It is also very close to M115, which made directions easy getting in and out. The lack of a/c was not a big issue as it was cool and they had fans provided in every room, which made a big difference. There was amazon prime on the TV which worked great for kids shows, and the wifi worked fine even with all of us online. Overall we would highly recommend and would certainly look to come back in the future!

Very nice place

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful vacation at your rental. The home was clean and very nice. The beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the fire pit a few evenings and planned to have a ping pong tournament one evening but we were way too busy! There are a ton of fun things to do in the area - the sunset over Lake Michigan is only 20 minutes away, we golfed a couple different courses, stopped at a few different wineries, checked out the distillery that was close by, fished in the Betsie River, and even stopped at the Lily farm that was also close by and bought a few flowers.
