Enjoy coffee in the morning with Eagles and Egrets. Enjoy views of Morro Bay and Morro Rock from the hot tub, just steps from your door. This cozy home is located in one of the best kept secrets on the California coast. It's the sleepy beach town that California forgot. 2 large bedrooms and 2 bath house on a quiet street that adjoins the Sweet Springs Nature Preserve. Audubon members come from everywhere to enjoy the morning and evening spectacle of migratory birds that frequent the Pacific Flyway, and rest just steps from this magical place.
2 large bedrooms, 2 full baths. Have your coffee at Sweet Springs Preserve in the morning, spend your days at spectacular Montana De Oro, then relax with a glass of wine in the hot tub when the day is done.
Once you find this hideaway you will want to come back and stay again and again. It is a rare piece of paradise that you can only appreciate by being there.
Audubon attractions, wild and scenic coastline, breathtaking views, and utter tranquility.
I woke each morning before sunrise, took a steaming cup of coffee 30 steps to the Sweet Springs Preserve to watch the sunrise on Morro Rock, then watched the eagles and egrets forage for breakfast as the sun came up. Once things calmed down a bit--I went back for a second cup of coffee in the hot tub, and watched the birds come to the bay by the thousands--from the hot tub. Later in the day we took the kayaks out on the bay, saw great blue herons resting on the shore, and walked the dunes that were untarnished. This part of the central coast is the only truly unspoiled landscape. This is truly a one of a kind place. It is so nice to find such a comfortable nest in the midst of such natural bounty.
I woke before sunrise every morning, walked out the door, to a menagerie of egrets, waterfowl, even a bald eagle having breakfast over my head. Don't sleep through this magnificant spectacle, just steps from your door. My toes got a bit chilly in December, so I slipped into the hot tub once the morning sunrise dwindeled .to daylight. This place is one of a kind.
The home was nothing to look at when we pulled into the driveway. However, upon entering the home it was pleasant and clean. Walked out to the rear of the house and found a raised deck next to the Jacuzzi, which had a table and 6 chairs. The view was fantastic. Overlooked the bay area and we could see Morro Rock and the 3 steam towers which backdrop the Rock. Spent a lot of time out there just admiring the view. We came from the desert where the temperatures were hovering around 110 degrees. This was such a welcome change of pace for us. Overcast and/or foggy in the mornings with a lite breeze. The skies eventually cleared and the sun broke through and we had mid 70's the whole week.
Kitchen was fully stocked with a big fridge, a toaster, microwave and gas stove. The bed in the Master bedroom was unreal. So comfortable that we overslept most days, but that was okay, we loved the rest.
Our little dog made herself at home and loved the deck. Spent most of the days out there, relaxing or sleeping.
Had a little trouble with the TV but it was resolved with the help of a caretaker who came out within hours and repaired the problem.
The heating element on the Jacuzzi burned out and Kye contacted the pool man and he ordered the part and came out and made the repair. We were unable to use the Jacuzzi and Kye promised to reimburse us for the inconvenience.
Just a tip or two. Try the Los Osos Farmers Market in town on Mondays. Fabulous fruits and veggies and other assorted items. Talked to people visiting there and people came from all over to this market. There are hiking trails nearby which are suitable for children or a small dog.
Dining suggestions: Bayside at Morro State Park and Dorns in Morro Bay with nice views and outstanding food. For fast food, Sylvesters. Great burgers with long lines. Kuma Sushi (Excellent). Both are in Los Osos.
All in all a great week. We would highly recommend this property.
We were driving the Pacific Coast Highway and needed a stopover. I'm so glad we found this place. Quiet and right on the edge of the nature reserve, we loved walking down the boardwalk to the edge of the bay. Birdlife, greenery and foggy vistas. Magical! We dined in at a local Thai restaurant. The property seems a little older but is very clean. I could see myself staying here longer if I had the time.

We were very nervous as this was our first vacation rental ever. I did a LOT of searching online up and down the Central Coast and finally decided to take a chance with this one. I had some questions for the homeowner's daughter, Kye, and she responded very quickly so we decided to go for it. I am very happy we did!
The house was the perfect size for me, my wife, our 16 month old son and our Golden Retriever, Mylie. It was important that our son have his own room (not an affordable option with a hotel) as he sleeps better - and so do we. And Mylie goes everywhere we go because she is practically human.
The weekend before we were to arrive, Kye contacted us to let us know that there was a potential problem - the water would be shut off for a time our second day in because of an issue with another house on the street and said she would be willing to "make it right" and offered some alternatives. We were so impressed by this! I told her we weren't concerned about it... as it turned out, it wasn't a problem (water was only off for a couple of hours while we were out and about). Kye's concern over this tells me much about her and how the property is managed! That's very important...
As it turns out, we arrived just after Kye, herself, had spent many days at the house painting, etc. How awesome is that?? And we were thrilled to be the first to stay after all the work she had done. We were very happy with what we saw when we arrived. Like most rentals I searched for in the area, this home is an older one and, as another reviewer pointed out, it "has some quirks". We found it to be a very charming home.
A really important thing to us... it was CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!! The carpet throughout had obviously been recently cleaned. Most of the interior has been freshly painted; looks like the outside of the house got a fresh coat, too... a very pretty blue. The bathrooms were SPOTLESS. That's a big deal to me. We've stayed in hotels where my white socks were filthy from dirty floors. Not in this house! The floors were so clean that we felt totally comfortable with our little boy rolling and playing around on them. I would NEVER feel good about that in any of the hotels we have ever stayed at!
Kitchen is well-equipped and everything works great. Cable TV is great, wireless internet is fast and reliable. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS and lovely walks through Sweet Springs. LOVED IT! Quiet... can hear the ocean at night!
The house was a nice enough place. It was clean and relatively large. Beds were too soft for a person who likes firmer mattresses. The view of the Moro Bay rock in the brochure is from the back yard from a raised deck overlooking the neighbors yard.
