Vancouver, WA

Wonderful beach house just a few steps from the beach.

  • 5 of 5

This was a nice two bedroom, two bath rental on a quiet cul de sac. The kitchen was furnished with all the essentials one would need to fix most meals. There were plenty of towels and a washer and dryer to keep up on your personal laundry. Free wifi and a tv in the living room and master bedroom. My favorite spot (besides the beach) was the back patio. It was very private and had a lovely tropical feel to it with all the lush plantings.

The only drawback was no air conditioning. There were plenty of fans but very few breezes so it could get quite warm at night. We visited in February so I can't imagine how warm it might get in the summer. In all fairness, I did come from a cooler climate so this might not effect folks from more southern climates. All in all, we had a wonderful and relaxing week. Shari was a wonderful hostess and we hope to return soon. Mohalo...Jane & family

Beautiful Kailua Beach

  • 4 of 5

We loved staying at Kailua beach and this property was just a few steps from the sand and surf. The best shade tree on the beach was just at the end of the access and perfect for lounging under at all times of the day. Kailua is a world away from the madness of Waikiki, but only a 25 minute drive, and it so worth it. The accommodation was very comfortable, with generous size rooms and a lovely private, lush courtyard. Shari and Chuck couldn't have been more pleasant and thoughtful. I would certainly recommend this property to friends and family.

Paradise Indeed!

  • 5 of 5

We have returned now three times over the years and certainly always will...the owners are wonderful and respectful hosts who offer a very special sanctuary where private access to a glorious Kailua beach is right there with the turn of a key...all amenities are within this comfortable guest house, including a private terrace with such lush vegetation that leaves no doubt you are now in the tropics...and we never miss sitting on beach chairs by the water's edge at the end of every day to watch the light and clouds over the Pacific with a glass of great wine....for any beachcomber, pure joy.

Lovely, however....

  • 3 of 5

The owner is very nice, the location VERY NICE, however remember this home is not air conditioned and you get very little breeze.

It would be helpful to have some new fans as the current ones were VERY DIRTY and temperamental. Other than that, the beach area is stunning. We had a lovely time.

Owner's Response: We pay top dollar for a Finnish cleaning lady who prides herself on "clean." I wish the guests had told us about the fan issue & Anja would have been back here to clean in a flash. So unfair to post complaints for potential guests to read if you don't tell the hosts, as we live right on the property.

Nice location

  • 4 of 5

Access to beach was convenient. Hostess was very helpful. House nicely appointed except for lack of dishwasher. It was hard to wash dishes because sink would not hold water. Light over dining area non-functional so had to move floor lamps for evening meal. Better water pressure and hotter would have been nice. Minor issues. It was a relaxing week.

Activity and Interests

Aloha! Feel the trade winds blowing, heavy with the scent of

Plumeria blossoms, envision turquoise waters, and white sand

beaches. Life has been stressful, you're ready for a beach chair,

steaming mug of coffee, and sunrise over Kailua Beach. If you like

action, you can windsurf, kayak or boogie board, or kite surf. We

promise you the national #1 rated beach…the white sands of Kailua

Beach. Adjacent to it, is Lanikai Beach. As you walk from your

private accommodations, your picnic basket full of sparkling

champagne or 7-up, papayas, mangos and pupus, you need only walk a

few yards to the beach that will transport you to Paradise. The

pristine water is preceded by spacious beachfront lawns leading the

water's edge, iridescent in the afternoon sun. Go ahead, take a

dip, the water is almost always warm. Too sunny, scoot your beach

blanket under generous shade trees and pull out that novel you

brought. If life's a beach, this is Hawaii's finest. TAT & GET 212-173-8240-01
