When I first laid eyes on Cove Meadow I knew I would never see or have an opportunity to be the caretaker of such a magnificent and unique property. 10 acres f meadow, ringed with tall ancient woods, 1800 feet f shore cove frontage, estuary frotage and brook frontage. I have restored to pristine conservation standards and done the main house and its two guest houses and gardens to honor Maine and island traditions of simplicity.
a very large private park of 10 acres with 1/3 mile of private shore; shared access to two kayaks and two canoes, private exclusive shorefront areaswith hammocks & frepits; own organic kitchen garden, satlitte TV, expresso machine, ice cream maker, 24/7 wifi
The cabin is a great place to relax and watch the changing tides and colors of the cove. Everything is neat and clean. Having our own herb garden and apple tree plus clams to dig were a bonus. Our hostess is a remarkable and friendly lady. It was hard to leave and we plan to return!
The cottage is welcoming, warm and very easy to spend time in should the weather outside be unwelcoming. The site is beautiful and provides great access to not only to its own amenities, but to nearby nature preserves, galleries, eateries, the ocean, and other Penobscot destinations. Lindsay is a gracious hostess who makes sure your questions are answered, yet allows you privacy in your stay. Highly recommend Cove Meadow cottage.
We just got back form our stay & can't say enough of how we loved it! Great experience from 1st to last (initial contact to leaving). Lindsay is very attentive to details & very respectful of her guests! Loved how the cottage was set up when we arrived, music & lights on. Kayaks were great! We never left the island! Barred Island is a MUST as is the Stonington Lobster pound - there is a cooking pot at the point! Wish we had got a clam license. HIGHLY recommended! VERY peaceful & relaxing.
What a wonderful place to stay on my favorite spot on the Maine coast. The cottage was lovely and well equipped (we even had our own herb garden). Beautiful quiet cove with abundant wild life. Lovely outdoor areas for sitting and enjoying nature. Short drive to town. Even a few rainy days couldn't ruin our experience. Will definitely return.
This was our second visit to Cove Meadow Cottage. We like it so much we hope to return.
The cottage is cosy and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, including food processor and ice-cream maker. The view from the cottage is stunning with an open view to a quiet bay, lots of woodland and a small stream.
Deer Isle in early season is not full of tourists like other parts of Maine but there is lots and lots to do. You can kayak in the boats provided near the cottage or go for kayaking lessons at Outdoor Quarry Adventures only 10 minutes away. There is a beautiful state park only half an hours drive at Holbrook State Park with woody tracks, the prettiest picnic area I have ever seen in a state park and views out to the islands.
It is Maine so there are lobsters and lots of good food.
Lyndsay is the kindest of hosts and if you want advice or help she will point you in the direction of the best place to buy local produce, or to set off on an adventure.

Minutes to Stonington's beautiful, much painted much photographed
unspoiled fishing village. May to October enjoy nearby artisans
studios, galleries and shops, several very fine restaurants,
scenic and nature tours and wonderful diverse performing arts, golf
and tennis at neighboring country club. Year 'round enjoy our own
local 'fish huts' offering the best in local fare simply and
traditionally prepared; seaside walks on our beautifully groomed
island trails; Kayak and canoe explorations. Fall is a
favorite time for naturalists, painters, astronomers as well as
wilderness paddlers and hikers. Isle Au Haut, one of the most
unspoiled and remote parks of Acadia is a mail boat ride away. Many
artisans studios open until December and many year round shops show
the work of local artists and artisans year round.
