Great home base for exploring the Redwoods

  • 5 of 5

Fantastic place to stay when exploring the Redwoods. Great value and location. This isn't a fancy place, but has everything you need. We were barely in the cabin, up early hiking and out late on the beaches. Cabin was great for meals, cleaning up, and super comfy sleeping. Jennifer is a great host. We highly recommend and hopefully will be back!

We enjoyed our stay in this cute little cabin. It was a convenient location near the Jedediah Smith visitor center and Crescent City. Very private even tho located in the owner's backyard

Just the right location for our redwoods adventures

  • 4 of 5

We used this location to hike the redwoods in Jedidiah Smith and Prairie Creek. We also visited the ocean a couple times... It is very convenient location to all of that, as well as yummy SeaQuake Brewing (which we visited 3 times!). It is on the rustic side, but had everything we needed... We cooked breakfast and made coffee there in the mornings and heated leftovers in the evenings. It is close to the owners house, but it felt private to us. The neighbors had music going on one of the afternoons, but it was off by the evening and we couldn't hear it while inside the cabin... So no real issues there. The heater is a little tricky to get dialed in but it will keep you as warm as you like. Jennifer was very kind and helpful. We had an unfortunate incident with our car while we were out and about and she recommended a glass place in town. We got it all fixed up so we could get back to our hiking! I recommend Stout Grove, Boy Scout Tree Trail, SeaQuake Brewing, the lighthouse at low tide, Prairie Creek Trail, and Howland Hill Road... Oh, and Crescent City Glass, ha! I would recommend this cabin/cottage to anyone looking for a convenient and affordable home-base for redwoods/ocean adventures... It's probably great for creek access as well, but that wasn't on our agenda. Thanks Jennifer!!!

Comfortable spot near the Smith River

  • 5 of 5

This was a great experience. The owner was super friendly and even suggested stops on our way up. The kitchen is well stocked with necessities for cooking and the house was comfortable and in good condition. My only caveat is that it was not apparent in the listing how close the cabin is to the other house (<50'), and while it is right next to the Smith River, there is no real river access from the cabin (though there is from across the nearby bridge). That said, it was an entirely positive stay.

My perfect mini vacation stay

  • 5 of 5

This place far exceeded my expectations and beats staying at a crowded hotel any day in my book.

We stayed 3 nights, got lucky with 2 days of gorgeous weather ,yet the day the heavy rains came were spent indoors enjoying a bottle or 3 of wine ,with the fireplace going, ,listening to the rain ,close to the river ,was exactly what was needed

Thank you Jennifer ,we will be back

It's Good!

  • 4 of 5

It's a cute little cottage/cabin tucked right behind the owner's house. The amenities are modest but cozy, and the owner is extremely friendly.
