About Leslie

Owner and operator of the Beach Place since 1999. I have been on Siesta Key since the early 70's and know Siesta Key and the surrounding areas very well. I am happy to offer dining and site seeing tips depending on our guests interests. I can also offer suggestions for day trips. I am available to help our guests almost any time since I live on site.

Leslie purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Leslie chose Siesta Key

The Beach Place Starfish Cottage been available as a rental since the early 60's, I am interested in preserving Siesta Key's "Old Florida Charm" so that visitors may experience the type of place that made Siesta Key famous. We are one of the few original rentals still operating just steps from our world famous sand.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The Starfish was very clean and welcoming to me, my husband and well behaved large dog. It was very close to the beach and quiet. It had a fully stocked kitchen, lots of clean/soft linens, good heat/AC, comfortable bed, lots of places to walk my dog and walking to restaurants/village. It attracts kind, thoughtful people. Fridge had awesome icemaker which made my husband very happy. There was a place to do laundry and extra sheets and towels provided. There was a small pool with lots of gardens around it. Also a cool birdfeeder zone. Leslie and her family were super nice and smart, good conversations. We will go back.

Clean, pleasant, close to the beach

  • 4 of 5

I came for 5 days with my granddaughter; her dad and brother came on the weekend to join us. This is the cozy "old Florida" type cottage, there is a small pool on a cute deck, they provide beach/pool towels and keep them laundered so you can always get more on turning in your wet ones. Bed was comfy. Apartment was clean. I had two small issues and they took care of them immediately. They accommodated when my son joined me (with another car) and he stayed with the kids at the beach after I checked out. Leslie said that was fine, they could use the pool and whatever, just couldn't go back into the cottage as it was being cleaned. The only little thing that took away the fifth star was that when they came back from the beach and the kids were playing in the pool, someone (not Leslie though) started yelling at them about noise and the laundry. Put a damper at the end, but other than that it was excellent and there were no other troubles with the kids at the pool. My dogs enjoyed the visit and they were good about the dogs.

Quiet and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying so close to the beach in a cozy bungalow. Grilling by the pool and relaxing in the hammock with ocean breezes blowing was just incredible. The hosts Pam and Leslie were awesome, I consider them friends and can't wait to go back!

We had a wonderful week staying here. It is amazing to walk to the beach from your room. It is clean and has everything you need to feel at home for the week. The pool is great. It was quiet and safe. If we needed anything, Leslie was happy to help! We can't wait to go back soon!

The Beach Place was a pleasant surprise. We stayed in the "Seahorse". At night we BBQ and made tropical drinks at the Tiki Hut bar next to the pool. It's a very quaint enclave of cottages. The rates are reasonable. Siesta Village is down the road with lots of good restaurants, music and shops.
