We have owned our condominium at Gulfview II since 2003. In the past two years we have remodeled the bathroom, adding a new granite counter-top and sink. We freshened up the interior with a new paint color and some tasteful decor. The exterior of our building looks fantastic too, with a bold new color that makes you feel like you are truly on vacation. (For those of you who have stayed at Gulfview before, you will be amazed by how great the building and our grounds look)
Over the past seven years we have had the opportunity to rent our condo to many great famlies. We take great pride in our updated and well maintained condominium. We would like to share our vacation property with you. We hope that you enjoy our condo as much as we do!
Our condominium has a modern/traditional feel to it. We are located directly
across from Miramar Beach. The white sands are plentiful. You never have to worry about claiming a spot on the beach. We have a large shore-line which adds to a great beach experience. Whether it is running in the waves or lying by one of the two pools, relaxation cannot be avoided. Shopping, fine dining, golf, deep-sea fishing, or other water sports are just a few of the many activities that can be enjoyed every day.
The Gulfview Condominiums are located on Scenic Gulf Drive (Old
Scenic Highway 98) just three miles east of the city of Destin in
Miramar Beach, Walton County. The private beach is directly across
the street, just a few steps away. The Silver Sands Factory Stores
in Sandestin and the Destin Commons are no more than a mile or two
away. There a several restaurants within walking distance.
This is a non-smoking condominium. It is located on the first floor
and features a partial view of the Gulf waters from the living room
and balcony. The view from the living room overlooks one of the two
pools and is 100 feet away from the second heated pool, whirlpool,
and barbecue area. This updated and clean condominium sleeps six and
has a queen-size bed, two bunk beds, and a sofa sleeper. As of January 2012 we have free wireless internet for all our guests!
This was my first time using home away so I was skeptical. But I was very pleased by the condo. Everything looked just like the pictures. It's located in a great area right across from the beach and close to many restaurants. Stacey was very helpful with booking, she responded quickly to all emails and gave suggestions on places to visit. Very quiet and peaceful area which was perfect for our relaxing get away. I gave it 4 stars because the wifi connection wasn't that strong, but I wasn't supposed to be on my phone as much anyway lol. If I visit Destin again I will be sure to book with the Matson!!!
Vacation was awesome. Love love love the area. So much to do and such a relaxing atmosphere. The condo was nice and great access to beach. Definitely a vacation recommendation!
Property was exactly as described, clean and well-maintained. The Matsons provided excellent customer service - as first-time vacation renters, we had several questions for them prior to and during our stay, and they were *always* quick with a helpful response. In fact, *they* contacted *us* once or twice to ensure that we were having a good time on our vacation! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to stay at a pleasant place right by the beach without breaking the bank.
Restaurants we enjoyed during our first (but certainly not our last) stay in Destin: Another Broken Egg, Ciao Bella, McGuire's Irish Pub, Fat Clemenza's, The Donut Hole and Bruster's Ice Cream.
Had a blast on the SeaBlaster dolphin/snorkeling cruise. Thoroughly enjoyed shopping at the Destin Commons. And, of course, relaxing by the beach was amazing and just what we needed. :)
Thanks again, Russ and Stacey!
We love to stay here! The location is perfect, close to the beach great food and shopping!! The room is right next to the pool, the kids love that!
We made our reservation at the last moment. The next day they said they were having computer issues and could not send us their "formal letter" with the info...so we just got a few of the codes emailed to us for the lockbox, beach gate, etc. Upon arrival we were disappointed - there was lots of grime built up in the cracks and crevices. The sheets were clean but not the comforters. Silverware had food crusted on it. The area around the toilet reeked of urine. The stove smoked profusely. The couch in the living room had NO cushion left in it. The bed was flat and hard and you could feel every spring. The ceiling fan overhead in the bedroom clanked all night. We wanted to use the hot tub that night, but the pools were NOT heated and kids in the complex were "swimming" in the hot tub. Also, there was a large group of people that had rented several rooms in the complex. They were walking up and down the complex drinking, smoking and shouting all night long. The next day we stepped outside the condo for a moment and when we turned around, we discovered we were locked out. We did not know that the door would open from the inside but would be locked from the outside. We found a number posted outside for management but they told us that they did not have ties to this unit. We finally got in touch with the owners who said the only other person with a key was their cleaning lady. She was not available. It seems foolish to me not to have some sort of contact for guests for issues like this! They had no way to help us or anyone for us to get in touch with for help. So the owners sent a locksmith who charged us to open the door with a credit card (the owners did reimburse us for this)! The owners suggested we keep the key in the lockbox to prevent another lockout, but we didn't feel comfortable keeping our possessions in a unit that previous renters knew the code for the key to access it. Saturday night we got into bed around 11:30 (again there were people in the halls making tons of noise)...and just a few minutes later we were startled by the sound of someone shaking the sliding door and trying to open it. Enough was enough. We packed up our bags and left shortly after midnight to drive three hours home. I would also note that this unit does not "overlook" one pool...it is RIGHT NEXT to it and there is NOT a view of the Gulf from any place in the unit. We wish we had saved our money or spent it elsewhere.
