About Mary P. Hansen
Both my husband and I are from northern US, Chicago and Pittsburgh respectively. He joined the Air Force and ended up at MacDill AFB in Tampa and I worked in Pittsburgh as a School Administrator then moved to the Tampa area in my mid thirties to begina career in real estate. We met 6 months later and were married within 2 years. While we dated and during the early part of our marriage, our favorite place to escape was Anna Maria Island. Once we had our son we realized how expensive it was to get hotels with children and decided it might be better to try and find a vacation home since we lived within an hour away. The real estate crash of the early 2000's combined with me being a realtor made it the perfect opportunity for us to find our home on the Island.
Mary P. Hansen purchased this Townhome in 2007
Why Mary P. Hansen chose Holmes Beach
Even though we were thorough and did look at St. Pete and Clearwater beach, we always came back to the family style of Anna Maria with its ice cream shops, locals that know everyone and streets that you and your children can safely ride bikes on. Since you are not allowed to biuld anyting higher than 3 stories there are no high rises and therefore it is not as crowded...less traffic. We didnt choose to be directly on the beach because we wanted larger windows and balconies. Everything on the beach is made into a tunnel with a sliding glass door and small balcony at the end to get your view. All I could imagine was having company - and we get 20 or more- and the balcony flling in! Or eveyone inside sitting all over the floor because there weren't enough seats. Our home has 1600 sf living, large windows, 3 balconies, a patio and one balcony is 12' x 20'! I've had thirty people and not been crowded! The pool is within 500 feet yet across the street and behind the other building where I don't have to hear it and the beach is on 8 houses away. Our home sits in a nature preserve so it has trees of all things - not many but enough to stay cool - which are a welcome sight after a day at the beach.
What makes this Townhome unique
Since we are in a community we actually get to know some of our neighbors. 50% actually live here either year round or 6 months a year. The remaining owners are vacation home renters like us who rent their home when they don't use it themselves. We use our home 3-4 months a year so you will not see the average rental furniture or minimal items in the drawers. It is nice to talk to people at the pool from other areas but it is also nice to see neighbors that you can get together with every year when you come down!

Fabulous 2 week stay!!
The minute we walked in, we did feel right at home. As stated in all of the other reviews, Mary provided absolutely everything you would need for a beach vacation. We especially appreciated all of the baby items that we were able to use for our 9 month old granddaughter(high chair, pack n’ play, monitor, pool float, toys, etc.)
The property is well maintained by the Association and the neighborhood is quiet, safe, and close to many shops and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!
Pampered Home Rental.
We were so surprised and happy to find so many amenities available to us during our stay. Laundry soap, softener, paper products, dish washer soap, beach towels, beach items with a wagon to haul everything to the beach. Golf cart was a must for those without a vechicle to drive while we were there, as well as a leaisure vehicle on the island. The supplies mentioned above were not “starter” supplies they lasted the entire 2weeks with 5-7 adults using. The only thing we ran out of was gas for the grill, but we were more than happy to fill the 2 tanks due to all the other supplies we didn’t have to buy! We have stayed in numerous rental houses on vacations and this is by far the best supplied one we have stayed in. We applaud the owner for this well thought of feature to the guests!! Would HIGHLY recommend!!
Also had tons of DVDs; gaming system; TVs in all bedrooms. We had great weather and there are no complaints from anyone.
We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday and had a wonderful time. The beach was gorgeous and within walking distance. All the stuff in the garage was amazing- beach towels, cart to carry stuff to the beach, toys, coolers, bikes and a golf cart. We even rode the golf cart to get ice cream. The townhouse was well stocked also. Loved the screened in porch off the dining room.
The Condo was great! Well appointed.
Proximity to the beach is great. Enjoyed the pool too!
We had a wonderful week!
Wonderful Family Time!!
We had a wonderful week on Holmes Beach. The condo was lovely, had everything needed for a fun day at the beach and pool, fully equipped kitchen, and comfortable beds. We’ll be back!
Another wonderful two weeks.
This is our second stay with Mary. This year was just as awesome as two years ago. The big difference was we traveled much lighter. Mary provides beach towels, chairs, beach toys, boogie boards, coolers, paddle boards, and many other items to use at the beach. The use of the golf cart to go the short distance is also great. We had great weather the two weeks we were there. The pool was refinished while we were there. It opened the last day we were there, and it is great. Mary has the house stocked with everything you need except your clothes and food. If you are looking for home away from home, you will not find a better one. The house is updated, clean, and Mary is wonderful to work with. We plan to return if she will have us back. Thank you for another wonderful two weeks.
I am so glad you enjoyed yourselves again. It was a pleasure having you! I picked up your fishing poles yesterday and will get them to the mailing center by the end of the week. I am not sure about the long one that won't beak down but we will figure something out! LOL
Come back again soon!
Anna Maria is a quaint beach town where you can bike or take a
stroll to your favorite restaraunt or ice cream parlor. In the
evenings you can enjoy the local acoustic guitar player at the beach
bars or just watch the beautiful sunsets away from the crowds. You
can rent anything from scooters, or boats to jet skis or go on fishing
charters or gambling charters - whatever your pleasure is! Combine your vacation with trips to Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens or even a 3-7 day cruise since all are within 30 minutes to 2 hours of the house.
Since there are ordinances in place keeping the construction of new
development from building no higher than three stories, it restricts
the number of hotels, motels and condos that come to the island and keeps the non-commercialized beach 'feel'. That is not to say that all the comforts of development, shopping and restaraunts are not within 10 to 15 minutes away - they are. A quick trip to Sarasota,
St. Armands Circle, Cortez Blvd. or Bradenton will spring you back
to full civilization and fullfill all your shopping, dancing, art or
need for a gourmet meal, not to mention our great eateries right on the Island!
In the meantime, you can feel free to take yourself back in time to the days where you or your older children may explore the Island on a free Trolley that circuits the Island all day and rotates at designated stops every 20 minutes, bike lanes strech the Island and each of the three towns has its own shopping village with quaint stores and independantly owned restaurants. Not only are building heights restricted on AMI but only necessity franchise stores or eateries are permitted to reside on the Island. You will only find a handful of gas stations/quick marts, 2 drug stores, a major grocery chain store and one major pizza chain store.....all other businesses are locally independantly owned and operated in the area. Just one more thing that adds to the quaint ambiance found on Anna Maria Island! Come join us and Get Away from It All!
