About Wendy Ney Manley
After college we joined the Dewey Beach scene and fell in love with the area! As singles Dewey was a blast, but as our family grew and we aged, we elected to vacation in the 'Quiet Resort,' as Bethany has come to be known. Our neighborhood is very family oriented, where you know your neighbors and a last minute pot luck dinner with friends, family and neighbors is the standard fare. Kids make friends easily in the area and ours have been in many more of the neighboring homes than we have! Bring your bikes, take walks along the canals, lose yourself in a good book (or borrow one of ours!), cook a meal in our well equipped kitchen or sample the many great restaurants suitable for any pocketbook and you will love the beaches! We bought our home as an investment property and it has been a vacation rental ever since. Many families and friends have made many memories, some coming back year after year. We have tried to outfit the home with those things that will create the perfect back drop for relaxing, hanging out with friends, beaching it, fishing, or creating that huge meal! Our family lives northwest of Philadelphia, our kids are now older in college and high school. Our children love vacationing in South Bethany, as do we. We hope you and yours will too! We invite you to place your reservation and make some memories of your own!

Why Wendy Ney Manley chose South Bethany Harbor
We work hard! And we play hard! With many friends local and a far, we wanted a place that we could entertain larger groups without feeling cramped. Unfortunately we don't get to use the property very much during the height of the rental season, but when we are there our friends and family typically join us. Some day we hope to retire and spend some more quality time there, but until we do, the house is there for you to enjoy!
What makes this House unique
This is not your typical rental! Our home has a personality, it is not a sterile environment, warmer than a hotel room and the peach walls, thoughtful decor and inviting setting will make you smile each time you walk in the door. Our favorite spot is the front porch with the rockers. We typically start the day on the front porch on the warmer days with coffee, appetizers and a favorite beverage to cap off a perfect beach day and a night cap before heading off to bed. The screened porch w/ceiling fan off the kitchen is where we take many of our meals, and the open back porch is a very pleasant location to tan and read when seeking solitude. The neighborhood is residential, with lots of fun places to walk or bike ride. Especially when you head out to the bay, you won;t be disappointed with the views! The house can cater to ten people easily and you won;t feel cramped and can find places to retire to when looking for some 'me' time. The kids simply adore the Bunk Room on the ground floor, where they can stay together, away from parents. We invite you to share what you liked in our guest book and what would perfect your next stay in our home.

great for two families
we had two families of four (with two dogs and four kids under the age of 4---oy) and we found this property to be perfect. Close to the beach, close to the canals, but not so close we had to worry about children falling in. It was a cozy but not so tight that we felt claustrophobic. Wendy was super responsive anytime we had questions pre-trip and during.
Wendy was a great host. Very accommodating and responsive.
Thank you for your great review! I hope we see you back in the area soon!
Great stay and location
Really quiet place to stay, love being only few miles North of OC and South of Rehoboth. Extremely quiet back street area, great for morning and evening walks, short walk over to beach. House is well stocked, good setup if you have several vacationers in terms of rooms and space to spread out. Owner was terrific to work with, responsive and very helpful.
So glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back before too long!
Perfect Family Home
We have just returned from a wonderful vacation in this beautiful home. The layout of the home was perfect for the grandparents in the master, grandchildren in the ground floor and parents in between. Highlights of the house: OUTSIDE SHOWER!!, lots of cooking supplies (we cooked almost every night), lots of spaces to escape (decks, loft, downstairs sitting room), ample parking, large dining room table to eat and play games.
The beach is in easy walking distance. Clean, well maintained, and not crowded. We brought a metal detector and planted a treasure chest for the kids (inserted a hammer for the metal detector, but gave the kids a treasure map as well). The sunrises are magnificent! And evenings on the beach are so relaxing!
Things to do: We walked all through the canals and Middlesex. Bike riding on the Route 1 bike shoulder. Boardwalk concerts. Geocaching. Breweries. Dickens Theater. Outlets. Rehoboth boardwalk. If you are out of town, there are two public mini libraries - one by the township building on the border of Middlesex and one behind McDonald’s, but Wendy’s library is the best - lots of great reads! Puzzles in the downstairs cabinet. Magnet fishing in the creek off Kent Rd.
Sent Wendy a question during the week and she responded immediately. And our dog was very happy that she was able to share our vacation with us! A fun time was had by all.
Loved your review and thank you for your kind words! So informative and so helpful for future renters. I may need to "borrow" some of your recommendations in future postings!! Loved hearing about the metal detector and burying the treasure chest and sounds like you made lots of memories, which is what vacationing is all about. Hope to host you again in the not too distant future!
Very nice, clean property. Located near beach and boardwalk.
House was clean and welcoming. Located in quiet South Bethany. Beach and boardwalk are short drive away (easy enough to bike or walk—-if you aren’t carrying beach chairs, etc). House had plenty of sleeping room, with separate entrance/ exit on two floors (helpful when the young adults are coming in after the elders have gone to sleep). Outside front porch and enclosed back deck were favorite gathering places for our family. The only issues were minor ones that could easily worked around: lack of food storage/pantry area (however, PLENTY of cooking supplies!) and we had a bit of trouble with the newly installed Directv. Again, a minor detail as weather was wonderful and not a lot of tv watching, anyway! Coffee maker didn’t want to behave...think it’s the coffee maker, rather than the baristas, as this family is extremely proficient at coffee prep! Overall, a great experience! Owners could not be any more helpful and responsive, including tips for places to visit, dine, etc...much appreciated.
Rebecca - All good suggestions for areas that we will need to address! We usually have a back-up coffee maker on hand so I will double check to make sure no disappointments for those baristas in the future! So glad you enjoyed yourselves and hope we will be welcoming you back before long so you can see our improvements!
Spacious home in quiet neighborhood
Our extended family of 10 thoroughly enjoyed our week-long stay at this home. With three levels, there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out, but the open feel to the main floor with the kitchen, dining area and living room, allowed all of us to be together as well. The owner was prompt with answering questions and very easy to work with.
Glad you enjoyed your time at the house and that the house met the needs of your group. I hope we will be welcoming you back before long! Thank you!
Well of course there is the beach, just a short walk away (2 blocks or 10 minutes walking).....But in addition, boating, fishing, wind surfing and kayaking are just a few of the water activities enjoyed in South Bethany which is nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the inland bays. Not to mention the numerous public paths, endless walking trails and downtown Bethany that affords vacation goers a plentiful assortment of shopping, fine dining and recreation. We are located in a quiet family oriented community surrounded by canals and beautiful views of the bay, where children ride bikes and play in the streets, where people jog and take walks without reservations about traffic or safety issues.
Don't miss the regularly scheduled outdoor concerts on the Bethany Boardwalk! Sea Colony - an internationally recognized tennis facility - is within walking distance and sure to challenge even the most competitive player. Only a short drive to Ocean City, Md, Fenwick or Rehoboth and all the other Delaware Beaches where you can enjoy golfing, amusement parks, additional fine dining and tax-free outlet shopping at more than 140 stores in nearby Rehoboth Beach.
Don't forget your bicycles - there's lot's to see, do and explore!
