"Rancho Relaxo" (yes, there is a story behind the name) is a comfortable, clean and cozy cabin, located in the popular summer resort community of Scotch Creek, on the sunny north side of Shuswap Lake. The cabin has tons of character and will provide you with a completly relaxing and fun vacation. It is absolutely perfect for a small family or a romantic get away.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, shawdirect satellite TV with piles of channels, DVD, and CD player. The two queen sized beds are very comfortable and are supplied with linens, comforters and pillows. The cabin is one big room with a wall and curtains seperating the living areas from the bedroom area. The other queen bed is in the living room area with a wall and curtain as well. For this reason, the cabin is best suited for a couple or a couple with children. There is a shower (no bath tub) in the bathroom. The bathroom is located seperate from the living space, attached but on the covered deck. The front deck is completly covered for your outdoor entertaining and BBQ'ing (barbeque and propane supplied). In the photo, you will see two doors, one goes into the bathroom, one to the living space.

The cabin is situated on a beautiful, grassy, treed and privately owned double lot, on a quiet street away from the highway, with plenty of room for parking (even your boat), picnicing, volleyball, badminton and bocce. The entire property is yours to use. There is a set of bocce balls for you to use and a sunken, private fire pit. Bring some firewood with you or you may purchase firewood locally. Quite often however, there are local fire bans during the summer months. Check the website, for updated information.

The lake is a very short walk (a few minutes), where you will find the Provincial Park, a boat launch, a park with a playground, picnic tables and a swimming beach. You do not have to cross the highway to reach the lake. The cabin is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Everything you need for a fun and comfortable holiday is waiting for you at Rancho Relaxo. If there is anything you feel you require, just let us know and we will do our best to make you happy. We are a short drive away.

Bookings are weekly Saturday to Saturday during the summer months. Please ask about staying for less than a week. Check in is 3 pm and check out is 10:30 am. Please inquire about checking in or out earlier or later.

Bath towels, kitchen and bed linens are supplied. Bring your own beach towels.

Please ensure you leave the cabin as you find it, clean and tidy for the next guests. If you choose not to leave it clean and tidy, you can choose to pay an optional cleaning fee of 150$.

The barbeque, if not left the way you found it is 25$.

The cabin can accomodate up to 4 guests. Please inquire about bringing extra guests, tents or an RV. There is plenty of room to pitch a tent or bring an RV. Extra guests on the property are $25 per night, whether in the cabin or in a tent. To park an RV on the property is $30 per night.

Pet fees are $50 per pet, per week, or $15 per night for shorter stays, up to two 50 pound dogs.

The website you book through charges a booking fee. This is paid directly to the booking company.

We require a 350$ refundable damage/booking deposit when you reserve to secure your booking. This is completely refundable upon departure after we check out the cabin as long as it is left as you found it.The refundable deposit is paid at the time of booking by mailing a check or by email bank transfer. Once received, your tentative booking is reserved.

The rest of the fees, the $350 refundable deposit, pet fees, rental amount and cleaning fee (if applicable), are paid to me personally, either by mailing a check or online email bank transfer (I find email bank transfer is the easiest to send funds and for me to refund the deposit). I will give you my personal email address once your booking has been accepted.

The rent and other fees are payable to us 60 days prior to your arrival. This again is done either by mailing a cheque or by online bank email transfer.

About Brenda Bryan

We built our Scotch Creek cabin using all recycled materials in 1996 and used the cabin for our weekend getaways for 10 years. In 2005 we sold our home in North Vancouver and bought another cabin in Celista, 7 kilometers away from our Scotch Creek cabin. We now live in Mexico during the winter months and in Celista from April until November. We started renting our Scotch Creek cabin in 2005. It is our love of everything mexican that inspired the design of the cabin.

Brenda Bryan purchased this cabin in 1996

Why Brenda Bryan chose Scotch Creek

Rancho Relaxo is perfect for a couple with or without children or pets. It is on a private double lot and not in a complex. The property is entirely yours to use.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is located in the heart of a quiet residential area with mostly summertime folks visiting the area. It is on a double lot so there is plenty of room to have fun. The property is very shaded with huge trees so there is always shaded areas in the hot summer months. The best part of the property is the sunken private firepit area. It is also located a very short walk to the Scotch Creek Provincial park and public swim area. There is also a dog friendly area at the beach.

Rancho Relaxo

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I showed up at "Rancho Relaxo" late in the evening after a very long drive to Scotch Creek from Northern Alberta. I was trying to get a wireless signal for my computer to get online to retrieve my contact information, but it was fruitless. As me and my husband were becoming more frustrated and looking for SOMEONE in the area that knew our contact, she called to see if we had arrived safely!!! What a relief! We then got the necessary directions for the cabin and met the contacts husband there who then gave us a tour of the cabin and some important information for staying cozy while there.

All in all, our stay at "Rancho Relaxo" was a very positive one and VERY relaxing!!! The cabin is set up very nicely with EVERYTHING that one will need to perform cooking/cleaning duties.

I just want to give a shout out to Brenda and Dave for all their input to make our stay one of the best we have ever experienced!!

Thanks again. We will definitely try to come again next year!!

Quiet place to relax

  • 4 of 5

This is a great place to unwind from the regular day to day routine. My wife and I ran, kayaked and cycled in and around the neighbourhood. Cabin was great, bbq worked well and the sunken fire pit is nice and private.

It was very smokey in the area which coloured all overall impressions. It was good to be able to retreat to a pleasant indoors to minimize exposure.

Owner's Response: Hi there, Thank you for your review. I am really sorry that it was so smoky here for your visit. Hope your second week was a little better in Sorrento. Maybe one day you can come back to our area to explore it better when it is not so smoky.

Very relaxed stay at Rancho Relaxo

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, and another couple rented 'Rancho' for two nights while attending a wedding at Shuswap Lake Provincial Park. The space has lots of character and has a fully-equipped kitchenette. The park and lake are just a short walk away, and there are amenities nearby (groceries, breakfast place, etc.). It is located in a quiet neighbourhood well away from the road. It has a huge yard which is fairly private, and was perfect to play some lawn games!

It worked for us but is pretty cozy, would be great for a family of 3-4 or two couples that are comfortable sharing space.

Scotch Creek Rancho Relaxo

  • 5 of 5

My family of 3 just had an excellent time at Rancho Relaxo! It was a perfect spot for my husband, 4 year old daughter and I, and fully equipped with everything you think you need! Scotch Creek is a great small community that has a farmer's market every Wednesday and a few km down the road in Celista they have another farmer's market every Saturday and a winery. We missed out on the Friday nights live but they have a small market and music right in the town every Friday night in July and August. Hope to be back again!
