Lovely home home and location, cleanliness and clutter a problem
Dirty stove and grill with old caked on food present. Left open eaten food in refrigerator and kitchen cupboards. Mold all around bathroom sink and old used toiletries left in cabinets. Total clutter in ALL closets (blankets, pillows, mattresses, clothing), just thrown on floor. Renters responsible to purchase trash bags in town at 5 for $13.50 (really!) and then must take trash and recycling to land fill before leaving (really!). Asked to wash bed linens and fold at foot of bed before leaving and be out by 10 AM required !!!
In spite of the above we had a good time, enjoyed the island, including the coastline and the densely wooded areas away from the coast. Had fun exploring !!!!
Lovely setting - our vacation could not have been better!
The house was clean and had a very comfortable atmosphere.
The house is not far from the village but far enough to provide a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
Tucked away, charming cottage
First off, the owners are great and relatively quick with responding. This makes the booking process go really smooth and sets the stage for the remainder of your experience.
I was surprised how private the cottage was, due to being located on the Atlantic side of the island and nestled in the woods. Your nearest neighbor isn't audible or visible from most of the property. Great for quiet relaxation and unwinding.
Be warned that there is a spiral staircase here, but there's a baby gate available for use. The furniture is a bit dated, but has an authentic Maine cottage feel as a result. Everything you need except food and drink is here. Pack up the family and enjoy a break!
Peaks Island offers trails for hiking, beaches, bike rentals,
