Property is quiet, but close to hiking, wineries, restaurants and historic and cultural attractions. House is clean and fully equipped for cooking, reading, playing board games, listening to music, relaxing on the deck and appreciating the owners’ Mission furniture and plants.

Loved the mountain feel. Safe neighborhood, clean. Anything you needed was there. Wonderful porch with a grill. I was able to bring my dog which made the trip even better.

Peaceful Retreat - but close to everything

  • 4 of 5

This house is in a great location. It's on a side road in a wooded area which makes it very peaceful and incredibly dark at night (perfect for star gazing) - but it's also very close to the Taconic Parkway, Rhinebeck, Red Hook and lots of other quaint little towns. Plenty of things to do in the area and great casual places to eat (Matchbox, Homespun, Everyday Diner). Other than breakfast (cereal), we did not eat in the house so I can't say how well stocked it is for cooking, but it did seem like there were lots of different items in the kitchen. The main living area is open, but there is an L shape to it so if you want to watch TV you have your own little area to do so. Not a lot of stations, but there are plenty of DVD movies for children in the cabinet and the internet worked great. The huge windows in the living room kept the place nice and bright even on a cloudy day. There is a big deck on the back of the house which would be great for relaxing with a good book. The outside area is kept natural which fits in perfectly with the house. Loved all the different plants and trees. Overall, a nice place to stay at a reasonable price. A fenced yard would make this place perfect (but if you don't have a dog, it's fine the way it is).
