About the property

Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 5 Sleeps

Waimanalo Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu, with

five miles of undeveloped beach, white sand, turquoise water, and

stunning views of mountains ranges and off-shore islands. You will not

believe how beautiful it is here! Mostly the length of the beach is

either state park or public-accessible military reservations, making

it one of the least populated beaches on Oahu. This is one of the only

places in Hawaii where you can get away from to tourist mania, yet

still be central to all the tourist activities on the island.

Our vacation rental is ON the beach, meaning that you can walk

straight out your door, across the yard, and onto the beach without

ever seeing a car or road. Your bedroom has a beautiful panoramic view

of the water, as well as a panoramic view of the beautiful Ko'olau

mountains on the other side. The property is a beautifully-maintained

beach home with ample amenities, modern construction, and a clean

environment. You will be comfortable, clean, and peaceful.

This unit is an independent section of the home on this beautiful

property, with some shared amenities (such as washer/dryer, outdoor

shower, walkway to the water, etc.), but for the most part it is fully

independent. It has a large upstairs section with sleeping, kitchen,

casual, and patio areas, and a downstairs large room suitable for

additional sleeping and casual needs. If you have needs for more

guests, or wish to explore a larger and more high-end rental, our full

property can also be rented.

This property is in a residential neighborhood, with only a few

vacation rental prospects in the area (with even fewer on the beach!),

so if this kind of a getaway appeals to you, we encourage you to book

a reservation immediately. This is truly a one-of-a-kind experience,

where you can experience Hawaii as people who live here like to

experience it, and it is perfect for the "off the beaten path" vacation!

Location, location, location with gracious hostess

  • 5 of 5

Laura's rental is a 2-story apt right behind her 1-story home which is on the beach. You have a nice ocean view on the top floor. Laura is both available and invisible at the same time, a refined skill of a highly experienced hostess. Bonus: You are the ONLY guests on the property. Unlike others with multiple rentals on the same lot, you don't have to coordinate driveway access, share beach equipment, and deal with potential noise. If you want to cook up a storm in a gourmet kitchen and have fluffy white down comforters, this place isn't for you (although beds were nice and firm with super soft sheets). Kitchenette has a basic 2-burner electric stovetop and smaller fridge with a full size fridge downstairs in the garage for guest use. Laura compensates by providing other essentials: coffee maker, toaster and toaster oven, rice cooker, and basic pots/pans/dishes/utensils.

The top floor is a spacious studio layout. King bed faces the ocean with the kitchenette/dining table behind it. White washed wood-looking floors and light colored fabrics give an open, airy feel. Best part about top floor: big picture windows on all 3 sides. One faces the ocean, back faces the lush Koolau mountain range, and side showcases green lawn/koi pond. Palm trees surround you on all sides. Because of all the big picture windows, it is very bright all day long. There were times I knew I should be on the beach but I didn't want to leave the apartment because I could sit there all day lounging with my Kona coffee and admiring the gorgeous views all around me! The simple and spacious bottom floor is one room with its own bathroom, perfect for our teens. 2 full size beds provided more sleeping space than the typical twin bed configuration. Not only did Laura have the usual boogie boards, but also had a surf board, stand up board, SEVERAL kayaks, and snorkel gear. Finally, there were little touches that were icing on the cake: HOT outdoor shower, fluffy throw rugs in bathrooms and all around the apartment, generous supply of towels for inside and out, and a welcome basket upon our arrival. Laura even provided a large golf umbrella since rain was in the forecast during our stay. It was the best and most personal experience we've had and we will definitely be back. Mahalo Laura!

Very Satisfied

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Laura's rental unit for 5 nights. The location on the beach was perfect and the unit was very clean and just as explained on the website. Other reviews were right on with Laura's hospitality and graciousness. She treated us like family. We had a beautiful experience and would highly recommend.

So much nicer than a resort!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our 3 year old and 17 month old boys stayed at Laura's beach house in early June 2016. I was perfection! We had such a great time. It was everything that the pictures show and then some. Our boys had plenty of space to play and "explore". They loved checking in on the koi and the little bunny rabbit in the yard everyday.

There were plenty of beach towels and the beach chairs and toys were much appreciated. It was so nice to be right on the beach. If you needed to get something from your room, it was just right there. No trudging through a crowded lobby and waiting on an elevator. Everything at Laura's is so easy! It was just what we needed with 2 small children. There are also several restaurants a mere 5 minute walk away. I don't know if we've had a more relaxed, laid-back vacation ever.

Laura is a very sweet woman. She goes out of her way to make sure you have an enjoyable experience at her place. She is never in your way but always there if you need something. I don't know how she does it. She is the perfect hostess.

Waimanalo beach is one of the most gorgeous beaches we've had the pleasure to experience. If you're even considering staying here, you should just go ahead and do it. It's a very special place. I really can't imagine staying anywhere else when we return. The memories my family made here will stay with us forever. It was very special.

Thank you, Laura!

Slice of heaven

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I had an amazing stay at Laura's beach rental. The house is an extension off of Laura's property, and the beach is right there, steps away from their backyard. The property itself was as pictured - very clean and well-maintaned. Laura is incredibly communicative and accommodating, and was ever so sweet in letting us check out a little later in the afternoon once we got back from our activities for the day. This was the perfect rental for us on the non-touristy side of the island, and I can't wait to come back next year!

Homeless on Christmas Day.. look elsewhere

  • 1 of 5

Imagine getting to your rental and seeing people already in it.. that is what happened to us on Christmas Day! We booked this rental back in May 2015, my husband and I spend a fair amount of time finding a place within budget and what will work for our family. We were in Oahu for my brother in laws wedding, all family members picked the same location so we could all be in walking distance from each other and the wedding took place right there on the beach. So there we were, like what the heck? My husband took our paper work and went to the main house (Laura's house the home owner) and went to ask. Sure enough, she double booked us and were homeless. Laura said she made a few calls to see if she could find something, she found a place 15 miles away, we had to pay more and pay cleaning fee, not on the beach not even an ocean view for only two nights.. we booked her place for 8 nights. We were devastated to say the least. My husband had to stay in contact with Laura, who promised us to make it up to us and help us in any way she could.. she told us we needed to be proactive in finding a new place.. my husband spend the next two days trying to find places to fit 5 of us (two small children).. our Christmas Day was ruined and we were stressed.. and to tell us to be proactive.. really?? We we were proactive in May.. then she told us to get over this situation and to enjoy our vacation.. how do you enjoy a vacation when you don't know where you are staying the rest of your vacation? We had to move every two nights, our oldest son stayed with other family members because every place we found would not take 5, we had to stay in the city in a studio.. it was a complete nightmare. Laura offered us two free nights.. oh wait we had to pay a cleaning fee.. really so nice of you! We had to pay a cleaning fee for every place we stayed at and when you move every two nights that adds up. Also, those last two nights, the rest of the family had flown out and we thought it would be depressing to stay there and we didn't know if we could trust her that it would be free as she told us several time she didn't know when her guests were leaving.. how could you not know?? Mistakes happen, but how Laura handled this situation was terrible and to charge us a cleaning fee.. didn't seem like she was that sorry.

Owner's Response: Yes, regretfully this happened. I thought these guests were booking a year in advance. When this family arrived I had guests already staying in the guest house until New Years Eve. I made a HUGE mistake. this had NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE, I kept the last two nights of their trip vacant and ready for these guests to return. They did not choose to return.I did everything I could to remedy their situation. I told these guests that when they did return for the remaining two nights there would be NO CHARGE and after a moments thought also said there would be NO CLEANING FEE. I am truly sorry, Laura

Mid December 2015 stay

  • 5 of 5

After living on Oahu for several years and regrettably back on the mainland, I wanted to have my family stay in a "neighborhood" setting. We found the perfect property. Waimanalo is one of the top beaches in the world and this location is right on the beach. Secluded and private, it was everything we had hoped for.

From the location to the wonderful two story (one bedroom and up and one down) spotless interior with the "island feel" I felt as if I were home again.

Laura was absolutely so kind and welcoming, giving the Aloha spirit which makes Hawaii so special.

If you truly want to stay in a "local" neighborhood setting, have the beach just steps away and have a wonderful host, then this is the property you will want to book.

Make sure you plan ahead as this is quite booked, but worth pursuing.

My family and I will return and we will stay with "friends", looking forward to another wonderful and memorable time in the islands.
