Relaxing Vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying here for 4 days in April 2016. The cabin is well kept, very clean and has all modern amenities you could ever need. The views at sunset were nothing less than spectacular and are excentuated that much more by enjoying them from the hot tub on the deck.

There are plenty of activities just a short driving distance away which will satisfy adventurers, younger families and older couples alike. Where else can you climb a mountain to see a waterfall, have lunch by a beautiful river and go to a spa for a massage all in the same day? There truly is something for everyone.

We were immediately won over by the scenic views and the seclusion the cabin has to offer. We found ourselves on the back deck every night watching the seemingly endless number of stars in the sky as we relaxed and just took in the blissful silence we never knew existed.

This was a wonderful experience we won't soon forget and plan to return as soon as our schedule permits.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the visit. Spring is a beautiful time in the mountains of North Carolina! Watching the hummingbirds buzz the feeder and listening to all of he other wildlife enjoying the warmer weather is a real treat to behold. We have several families that return year after year. Hope you will join them and become "regulars". R

Delightful Christmas Getaway

  • 5 of 5

What a special week we had celebrating Christmas at the Commander's Cabin! The home was beautifully decorated for the season, right down to the personalized Christmas stockings for all our little ones. This cabin was so comfortable and plenty of room for our large extended family to spread out and relax. (The word "cabin" doesn't do it justice...it's beautiful!) Lots of fun in the hot tub, playing pool, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Randy (owner) and Barb (property manager) were both great to work with and so accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable family retreat. We left an item behind and Barb even mailed it to us the very next day. Many thanks Randy for sharing your beautiful home with us, we look forward to coming back again to the Commander's Cabin! The Copleys

A wonderful vacation experience

  • 5 of 5

My family and I so enjoyed this spectacular home and setting for our celebration weekend. The pictures do not do it justice. This is a beautiful, expansive log home that could be featured in Homes Beautiful Magazine, yet it has all the warmth and charm and joy of a family home. Many fun sites to see around the area, as well. Thank you so much, Commander, for sharing this extraordinary place with us, and for your service to our great country. Cathy, Dana, Alex, and Tyler

Great home - owners who care about your experience

  • 5 of 5

Commander's "In Port" Cabin was everything as advertised...and then some. Very comfortable and well cared for home. Plenty of room with great hot tub, pool table and home theatre set-up.

As a bonus, owners (Randy) actually called to welcome us to the home and gave us instructions about hot tub and home theatre to insure we didn't have any issues working equipment.

Our family had a great weekend and the comfort of the cabin was big part of it.

Thank you for allowing to use your cabin...we loved it!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay! Lake Lure us a "jewel" of an area. Come again when the leaves are changing. The mountain behind the cabin is beautiful from all of the cabin decks when the leaves are changing to red, gold, and yellows!

Great getaway close to Asheville

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family trip to the mountains and we are making this a yearly vacation getaway. The cabin and amenities were fantastic. The cabin made you feel like you were at your own families home and you were able to truly relax. You are about a 40 minute drive to Biltmore Estate and Downtown Asheville. If you are looking for a cabin that is clean, offers full amenties and is quiet and cozy I would recommend this cabin in a heartbeat.
