Peaceful, charming Mountain cottage.

  • 4 of 5

If you want to be tucked away in thick woods up on a mountain, this is the place to be. However, I would suggest you have a 4 wheel drive to get there. Nice, charming place and a good deal for the price. The owner, Clad, was very accomodating and friendly. We had a good time and would not hesitate to book with Clad again.

WE had a fantastic stay - the area was beautiful and quiet. The house was fully prepared for our arrival! We loved the hot tub and the definitely made use of the grill. Make sure you bring your own charcoal for the grill, we forgot to pack ours.

Relaxing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at Whisper Mountain Chalet. My daughter and I took 4 of my grandchildren, ages 8 to 14 with us. The grandchildren had never been to the mountains and they had a great time. We took the children down to the lake in the valley several times to fish and ride around in the paddle boat. It is walking distance from the cabin. The cabin was roomy enough for all of us and quite cheerful and clean. It is at the top of the mountain and the first trip up on a gravel road seemed quite steep to us flatlanders. (We are from Tampa Bay area)However,we got used to driving the roads and made it easily in my Chrysler van. We enjoyed the hot tub and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. We were grateful for the clothes washer and dryer. Sandi and her husband were nice and very helpful and quickly took care of a minor plumbing problem while we were out sightseeing.

We went into Bryson City several times and the kids enjoyed Deep Creek where you can rent a tube and float down the creek all day.We took a short hike from Deep Creek to see Juniwhank Falls. Cherokee and Maggie Valley were another day trip.

Nantahala Gorge is close by where you can go white water rafting or kayaking. My 14 year old grandson who is an avid saltwater fisherman, fell in love with fly fishing and received some valuable tips from a fishing guide at Nantahala Outdoor Fitters.

We found that there was no service for our T-Mobile cell phones at the cabin and we had to drive toward Bryson City for about 20 minutes before service kicked in. That disturbed the kids the first day but I actually liked it. They gave up texting and computer games for board games, roasting marshmallows in the fireplace and catching their first fireflys. While wading in the cool water of nearby Panther Creek, they found an authentic Indian arrowhead. After we returned home, my 11 and 12 year old grandsons said," This was the best vacation ever. Even way better than the cruise that we took last year."

Thank you Sandi for helping me create happy memories for my family.

Our february vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time started snowing on the way up and sandi was so great she called to make sure we were okay and how far we were away. Once there they checked on us. Our boys had a blast playing in the snow and sitting by the fireplace drinking hot chocolate. It was such a great place and of course my youngest was upset because he had to leave the snowman behind lol. He did enjoy seeing the racoon on the porch early in the morning while eating breakfast. We will definetly return thanks for the wonderful vacation.
