About Sonya O Rose
We are retired professors who taught at Colby College & Bowdoin College so we know & love this part of Maine.. We currently live in Sarasota, Florida being too old to enjoy the snow in Maine where during the winter there is skiing & ice fishing. and it is difficult for to travel the rest of the year. Our loss is your gain.
Sonya O Rose purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Sonya O Rose chose Rome
It is a quiet fantastic spot for reading, writing & relaxing as well as the usual lake activities( swimming, boating, fishing, etc) but avoids potential noisy vacationers. One advantage of being near but not on the lake (3 min walk) is that our beautiful forest spot is constantly visited by friendly wildlife: birds, chipmunks, the occasional deer, a wandering flock of wild turkeys,& we still hear the wonderful sounds of loons on the lake..
What makes this Cabin unique
There are many activities in the area from water activities, to hiking,to antique hunting & especially to seafood eating. See the full list on this site

Convenient, clean, cheap
Very clean and simple house in an easy to find location. Two nights with four guys there was enough space and ample parking
Cozy & Comfortable
Having family nearby, this cozy cottage was perfect for us to stay for a few days over Christmas. Although we did no cooking or spent much time there, it has everything one would need.
Secluded and cozy
This cabin was definitely off the beaten track, but that's what made it so nice. It was cozy and charming. With the nights so cool, it was great to light the wood stove, grill outside, and hang out together.
This is a great cabin close to the lake in a great neighborhood. Great communication with owner. Perfect house for a couple ~ and there is a 2nd bedroom ~ there is so much to do and see there in Maine. Even though it rained a lot we had a wonderful time! We heard owls and loons together, what a lovely sound!!! Thank you Sonya!!!
so many loons! <3
This is a lovely, well kept, secluded cabin just a quick walk down to the coziest boat launch. I appreciated the laundry machine, great water pressure and heat, good beds (GREAT king memory foam), and the well equipped kitchen. We spent an entire afternoon just sitting on the swings/hammocks at the boat launch down the road, watching the kids figure out the kayaks, it's that nice there. The public beach is a quick paddle or drive away too. Be sure to hit a grocery store well before Belgrade lakes region, and bring charcoal and fluid for the grill! Thank you so much for a lovely weekend!
We feel as though the ad was deceving because the house was not on the lake as picture shown in the ad. It was only lake access. The cleaning company was great coming over to clean late night and maintaience guy was great fixing the what was need to be fixed.

but several weekly antique auctions, such as in Burnham, Maine, an
experience not to be missed. The 'in-Maine' secret here is that the local auction starts at 7AM, while the tourist/better quality auction begins at 11AM. I usually stay for both.
* Picturesque Belgrade Village, just 15 minutes away by car (or a nice
bike ride) has 3 fine restaurants, an internet Café, Day’s Village

also sell lobster and crab during the summer.
