Perfect vacation house!

  • 5 of 5

I was super impressed when I walked in the door! The place is way bigger than the photos show. It was perfect for two adults, a toddler, and a baby! There's a large walk-in closet in the master bedroom that worked great to put the baby in a pack-n-play! The kitchen was well stocked, as well as other toiletries! The sun room was SO nice to sit in, even though most days there wasn't much sun. It has a great view, and my toddler loved seeing all the bunnies that seem to frolic in the area. We had a great stay, and were very pleased with the house!

Great view, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

a very comfortable house for our group of five. My 80 year old mother was able to get around easily-no stairs. We sat in the sun room area most of the time as the view of the water and ferries traveling back and forth was amazing. Had my adult niece and nephew not wanted to do sight seeing I think the rest of us would have been happy to stay in the sun room every day. The two bedrooms share a bathroom which was fine for us ladies. The smaller bedroom/study is off the kitchen area and was fine for my nephew-but it was small and not real private for him. There was a door to the room but one side was open to the hall and kitchen. There was a folding screen to provide more privacy and that worked fine for us. The house had everything we needed. We did not cook or use the television so I can't comment on that. But there was certainly everything anyone could want to cook with and plenty of serving dishes. The house was easy to find and the owner didn't burden us with lists of rules. There were some thoughtfully placed instructions on how to use the television/gas fireplace and thermostat and easy check-out instructions. The only downside was if you are considering visiting the Seattle area and "mainland" is the cost of the ferry-it can add up quickly. On the other hand, you could easily spend 3-4 days exploring the island (and sitting in the sun room!) It was a great trip and I highly recommend this rental. We would return again.

As pictured and described. A lovely "getaway."

  • 4 of 5

The house turned out to be more spacious than the pictures showed and would easily accommodate 4-5 people. However, the only full bathroom with 1 sink is in between and open to both bedrooms. Hence you would want to be "close" friends/family to the other occupants. The shower is a corner shower and quite small, but we managed to fit my husband's portable shower bench in at an angle, and the hand-held shower head worked well for him. The toilet is quite low with no grab bars, and the second 1/2 bath was not wide enough for him to get into with his walker, so that was a challenge. Otherwise, everything is on 1 level and he was able to maneuver his way around quite easily. Thus I would say that the house is about 98% "handicap friendly," depending upon individual needs. The view was beautiful and as pictured, and the sunroom a real bonus. The house was well equipped with ample linens, paper products and other supplies, except for dishwasher detergent which was probably an accidental oversight? There were also a number of helpful "how-to" notes in strategic locations throughout the house explaining the workings of various things. The main complaint I would have is that the house is in need of a "deep cleaning" and general TLC, especially in the kitchen (cabinets - inside & out), and there are badly needed update/repairs, particularly in the sunroom where the window pane seals are broken letting moisture in between the panes and creating a slightly "cloudy" appearance to an otherwise magnificent view. Overall, the house is a wonderfully comfortable place to spend some quiet, peaceful time and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Spacious, well-equiped home with lovely view

  • 5 of 5

This house was better than we expected. It seems built as a permanent or long-term residence with lots of closet pace. The views from the enclosed porch (?) are stunning (when it isn't pouring). We'd sit there having breakfast each morning, waiting for the daily bald eagles (1 adult, 1 juvenile) flew by. The master bed was very comfortable. The kitchen has a full stove/oven, full size fridge, dishwasher, with clothes washer and dryer in another room. The place has lots of nice amenities: dish washing soap (for sink and washer); laundry soap; bath soaps and shampoo/conditioner; paper towels, toilet paper, etc.! Even 2 bottles of water in the fridge! The shower has a wand that can be stationary or moved around--not my favorite, though flexible. Best food shopping is in Freeland so plan ahead. Oh, yes, there are wine bottle openers, and even pens!
