Humble Home Away From Home

As I step through this modest cabin door

And saunter all across its wooden floor,

Remembering the times I've come before,

I look again at quaint, familiar walls

And every picture from the past enthralls

Me as each image here my mind recalls...

I view the kitchen table and the chairs...

I grap the rustic rail and head upstairs

And flurr the pillows...tuck an end that flares...

Back down the steps, I check the fridge for grub...

Tonight, I'll get down in the clawfoot tub,

Soap up myself and scrub and rinse and scrub...

But for right now, the porch swing's where I feel

The peace this dwelling has; that's why I steal

Away a while: the solace here is real;

And as I softly swing and soak it it,

The river flowing by, I start to grin

And tell myself, "You've come back again".

It was an awesome retreat "Thumbs Up!"

  • 5 of 5

We had an awesome visit - The "Old Glory" cabin was perfect. It had everything we needed (Kitchen, Clean linens, AC, BBQ grill, has cable TV, but we hardly watched :) )- It was great being right on the river fishing and kayaking (don't worry about bringing Kayak's - Belinda has two you can rent ) The accommodations were great very clean. We slept well each night after we lit a fire and gazed upon the stars :) We definitely will be back - Thank you Belinda for a memorable and relaxing visit - The MacDowell family

Best Cabin/Stay on Entire Trip Around USA

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is so impressive. It is fully functional, with full kitchen, TV/DVD, and upstairs bedroom for two adults plus kids. The themed furnishing, porch with swing, fire pit by the river were all unexpected and extra nice. We took a road trip around the West (San Francisco, Grand Teton NP, Yellowstone NP) and then through Appalachia (Franklin, Asheville, Great Smoky NP, Shenandoah NP, Washington DC) and this cabin was our best stay, loved most by my 9 yr old daughter, gf, and me. Belinda was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I highly recommend without reservation.

Charming cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed this 1800's cabin. Very cozy and loved the American decor. It was a little tight for the 4 of us. Bathroom very small. Property outside is spacious and beautiful. Loved the fire pit. Would recommend this cabin for a couples getaway

Just a Great 4th of July

  • 5 of 5

This is such a lovely cabin. Sitting on the swing and listening to the river going by was just what we needed. Some time to decompress from our normal work weeks. Next time I will be bringing my fishing poles.

retirement visit

  • 4 of 5

We chose this little cabin as a kick off for our retirements. It is a rustic and welcoming place. We were able to completely relax sitting by the river reading and watching the birds. Only thing I would add is a hammock. The evening was cool and filled with fireflies and exactly what we were looking for. But with two bad knees it is a bit difficult getting upstairs to the bedroom and we were surprised by an odor from the cabin's water. My wife and I have camped all over the country and this is a nice transition as we are getting older and less agile. Great start for our retirements.
