Happy with our Stay
My husband and I spent a week here and were very comfortable. The dock was great to watch the sunsets from and it was VERY nice being able to walk off the deck, onto the beach and have my feet in the water in seconds. It was great listening to the lake hit the beach with the screen door open in the bedroom at night. It is in a great location for restaurants and wineries. The neighbor's are close but were respectful of privacy for the most part. It was a very relaxing stay!
Perfect getaway! Beautiful lake view property!
My boyfriend and I decided to get away for 4th of July weekend and we had an amazing time! The cottage was exactly how it was presented in the photographs. It had everything you needed. We were blessed with perfect weather and gorgeous sunsets. The location is great if you are looking for peace and quiet and a beautiful view of the lake. There's plenty to do in the surrounding areas and we took advantage of the wineries and trolley tour as well as the waterfalls. We recommend staying here and are very much looking forward to staying again!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay last week! We celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary there. The house was clean and comfortable and the dock was a great place from which to watch the sunsets. I loved being able to walk right off the deck onto the beach and into the water. Never could do that at other places we've stayed at on the lake. The neighbor's were all friendly and respectful of privacy. The cottage was close to good places to eat, wineries and a brewery newly opened. It was easy to get to and easy to access when we arrived. We'd love to come again!
Seneca Lake, beautiful! Cottage another story
I'm sorry that I couldn't give this a 5 star. We were somewhat disappointed with this property. Check in was a breeze, and that was good but when we got into the cottage and checked it out, it was obvious that either no cleaning was done or the owner is getting ripped off if he's paying someone to clean. I spent an hour sweeping the floor, making the bed, scrubbing out the shower and dusting. Kitchen counters were clean but refrigerator had food left from previous tenants. I'm sorry but I don't expect to have to do all that stuff when I pay for a stay at a vacation rental.
The bed is so hard and uncomfortable we felt like we were sleeping on a board for 3 days. The couches upstairs are not comfortable at all. Screen doors need replaced as they barely open.
The spiders and midges were horrible. Every day we battled the midges getting in and my husband killed about 4-5 spiders a day. We noticed there is a utility closet in the bedroom that the door doesn't shut all the way and the air conditioner isn't tightly sealed so perhaps they are getting in that way but we couldn't keep any food out for long at all or the midges were all over it.
The best part of our visit was how beautiful the lake is and all the things we did. We did thoroughly enjoy the dock and watching the sunsets every evening. The cottage was spacious enough for 2 people and updated decor was nice. This really could be a prime spot with a little TLC. Decent furniture and making sure the place is clean in between tenants would make this a great place. Also a little better customer service and communication from the owner. I've never stayed in a VRBO property where the owner doesn't reply in a friendly nature. You know normal politeness like "Thank you for choosing to stay with us"..."Thank you for your inquiry"...I'd ask a question about the property and get short curt answers. I run a business myself and relating to the customers in a friendly way is basic customer service 101.
I would say, as it is now, the cottage is a place to put your head for the night if you are spending most of your time out at the wineries and other places and not spending much time at the cottage but if you want a place to relax and spend most of your time at the cottage, this isn't it.
Beautiful cozy cottage with amazing views!
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to stay on Secena Lake for our friends wedding. We thought about staying in a hotel but when we see this listing with such an amazing price we couldn't say know. I wondered if it was too good to be true... It really is exactly as listed!!!
I was in complete awe as we stepped out of the car and looked out to the lake! The view was breath taking! We hadn't even walked into the house and I already wanted to plan another trip!
Beautiful interior, clean, extremely well kept!
My only complaint was against mother nature- it was a unseasonably chilly 1st weekend of May which left the house a little chillier than we expected. There is a heater in the bedroom and a heated fan in the bathroom which was great. Next time I'll bring slippers as the hard wood floors were cold on my feet.
Can't wait to stay again in the warmer months and take full advantage of the lake!
Fantastic spot for a weekend reunion
A couple college friends and I booked this property for a weekend reunion and wine tour. Wonderful cottage, beautiful spot, fantastic experience. A great jumping off point for water sports, hiking, wineries, and other activities in the Finger Lakes region.
