Former Chicago Gal now loves the Desert! Gardener and animal lover!

This home has lots of character! Original home built in 1929 has historic charm. The lot has several mature trees and lots of plants and feels like an oasis in the desert!
Very central to all freeways, light rail, Grid Bikes yet quiet neighborhood feel.
We loved stayed here for our Spring Training trip this year! The unit had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and we enjoyed how close we were to most of the stadiums and some great restaurants. Would definitely return and recommend!
this location was perfect for us. Easy to get around town. Lots to do in this part of town from arts to dining to sports.
Guesthouse is clean with all of the amenities stated. Back yard is a quiet retreat.
What a location,5 minutes from the city 3 minutes from route 17 and maybe 7 minutes from route 10.
Encanto Golfcourse is a 10 minute drive and that is a great municipal track.
Our host has two dogs. Jack just wants petting and biscuits and Gracey really shy. They both respond to the sound of the gate which is great security. I'm
Perfect location in a safe neighborhood for our two week visit to Phoenix. Very quite and private with quick access to the interstate. Just right for a home base to visit other locations from.
The lower level is cozy and works well for two people. Very clean and all the amenities you need, not to mention a great shower! The upper level bedroom is huge! Plenty of closet and dresser space providing for storing your clothes and other items. There is a small deck off the second level bedroom to enjoy a coffee in the morning or pick a fresh grapefruit when in season!
Jack and Gracie (Doreen's two dogs) were great! They would greet us each morning and occasionally in the evening which was nice as we missed our two pups back home.
All in all, I recommend this place for any single or couple looking for an affordable, clean, safe place close to the Phoenix metro. Doreen is a wonderful host!
I stayed in Doreen's casita for a month while I was working at a local hospital for medical school. I consider myself lucky for finding such a nice place to stay. First of all, Doreen is a very friendly and helpful person; I enjoyed my chats with her very much. Her dogs and cats were nice neighbors and made my stay feel more comfortable since I love animals. The grapefruit tree and Doreen's garden made everything feel like a little paradise within central Phoenix.
The casita itself had everything I needed, so I was quite comfortable throughout the whole month. The natural light I got on the upper bedroom floor was unbeatable. I was able to walk around the neighborhood on my way to a restaurant/bakery called "Nami" a few blocks away which had some awesome soy-based ice cream sundays! The neighbors were all friendly, so I felt safe as well. There were many people running and riding their bikes around the neighborhood and the park across the street, which was nice to see.
I really have nothing bad to say about my experience. I would recommend this place to anyone who doesn't mind a few furry friends in the yard. I will definitely come back!
Thank you Doreen!
This was a wonderful place to stay during our first short trip to the Phoenix area. We especially liked the quiet, safe neighborhood. Just right for a home base for frequent jaunts to other locations. Easy to get to the various freeways.
Lower level is cozy, but fine for 2 people with the exception of the very small loveseat. The bedroom is huge and airy! Nice closet; lots of storage space.
Waking up to birds singing every morning was also a plus!
The shower was wonderful. So many amenities and supplies in the kitchen. I never did figure out where the laundry and brooms were to clean-up though.
The dogs helped us miss our own pet a lot less. My favorite moment of our stay was when Doreen greeted us after a 4 day trip to Palm Springs with "Welcome Home!" And it did indeed feel like home!
