Great way to spend February
The owner Marty and his team were very attentive and ensured we had a lovely stay. The view each morning and being directly on the quiet beach was fantastic. Sisal is a distance from all activities which is a plus but does make it necessary to have a car and travel for most major grocery hauls and activities.
It was a great holiday and weather couldn’t have been better. If I was to improve one thing it would be more comfortable seating in the living room and outdoor area. Other than that we had only good things to say about our stay.
Could not have been more perfect! Beautiful spot in a sleepy little town , right on the beach.
We loved this place!! Marty is a wonderful host. The house was spotless and had everything weneeded. The view, the breeze, the white sand beach, water, the sleepy little town, the birds, the wetlands, the pulpo de la plancha at Palapa de Soco... what can I say? We are so happy we came and so sorry to leave. We took a great kayak tour of the wetlands with Eduard Cruz (Motoventurs Sisal) Don’t miss this!! La ciénaga is magical.
Thank you Marty for sharing this amazing place !
Marty Patrick has an amazing property. You can have your morning coffee on the back patio and watch the local fishermen pass by in their boats. The pelicans and terns put on a display while driving for bait fish. Swim in the ocean or pool or just chill out. Marty goes to great lengths to insure your stay is memorable. However, remember that Sisal is a small fishing village, not Cancun. If you want an all night party atmosphere, go to Cancun. But if you want a real small town tranquil mexican experience, go to Sisal and Sur Mer. You will have only one regret, that you'll eventually have to leave.
The raw beauty and tranquility were striking
The raw beauty and tranquility were striking. The Guest House was spacious and well-designed with much of the furniture handmade locally. The fully equipped kitchen allowed me to prepare great fresh meals brought in from the sea daily.
The house was wonderful but the ocean views from our terrace and The Cantina took my breath away.
We found the perfect vacation retreat and for all its comforts, beauty and ocean views, it was Marty’s hospitality that made our stay so special.
This is what we had hoped it would be; peaceful, relaxing and soothing.
A little piece of paradise
We (that includes my husband and me and our three boys, 12, 12, 15 years) stayed in Sisal for the last two and a half weeks around Christmas and New Year. It is a great place to be, we really loved it. The house has everything you need, I prepared our Christmas dinner without issues, and everything was in really good shape. The location is just amazing, you step out the patio door and you see the ocean and just after a few steps you're in.
Marty, the owner, lives just next door, which is great, because he's always there to help or to answer every question. He really takes care of the property and is a wonderful host.
Sisal is a bit of a remote location, so it's perfect for people who want it to be quiet and peaceful and it helps if you speak at least a little bit spanish. Nevertheless, if you have a car, which I would absolutely recommend, you can do easy day trips to Merida, Uxmal or Chichen Itza.
For us as a family Yucatan was a perfect decision and we always felt safe. I would always recommend it to friends and family.
Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! Don't Miss This One. Sisal Sur Mer Is A Bucket List Place.
My wife and I booked at the suggestion of a friend, What a great recommendation. Our time here was perfect in every way but way too short. This was the best, most relaxing, vacation we ever had.
Everything was better than described and better than shown in the photos. The owner, Marty, told me that he is always improving the property but he is lax at updating the photos.
Sisal Sur Mer is a truly special place with all the amenities of home in a secluded ecotouristic locale. I returned home rested, relaxed and ready to conquer the world.
The other reviewers were right. Marty is an extremely attentive, knowledgeable and gracious host.
I usually don't return to places I visit but I will be back. Take my advice. You won't regret it. This place is a winner.
New experiences and real value are important touchstones for discerning travelers. Couples and families crave longer, more meaningful vacations for recreation and relaxation. They seek one-of-a-kind destinations where they can pursue their passions and create their own distinctive memories.
The premium choice is Sisal Sur Mer situated on more than 13,000 square feet of coveted oceanfront property bordering the El Palmar Biological Reserve. Casa Principal contains more than 2600 sq. ft. while The Guest House has over 1650 sq. ft. of luxurious living space.
Enjoy coffee on our large oceanfront terrace while watching local fishermen head out to sea to catch your evening meal, swim in the Gulf of Mexico, stroll on the beach, go shelling, snorkeling or fishing, relax in a hammock, sun bathe or take a dip in our free form pool. Fine dining is within walking distance. But Sisal Sur Mer is not just beautiful wide beaches, quaint fishing villages and friendly Mayans. Sisal is an ecotourism destination.
Discover its unique environment; watch pink flamingos and sea turtles, visit coastal estuaries and mangroves which support an extraordinary and diverse population of aviary and marine wildlife, see the vast salt beds, then visit mangrove thickets, lagoons and coastal dunes or explore underground caves and cenotes.
Immerse yourself in Pre-Columbian culture. The pyramids of Chitchen Itza and Uxmal are just a few hours away while Dzibichaltun and other less famous archaeological sites are nearby. Let Mayan culture transport you to another time.
Drive less than 45 minutes to fine dining, night clubs and world class shopping in Merida. You will find familiar conveniences at Costco, Sam's Club, Walmart, Sears, OfficeMax, Office Depot, Home Depot, Friday's, Subway, Pizza Hut, and Bennigans.... but you will also discover a city, founded in 1542, with beautiful mansions and museums.
Sisal Sur Mer.... the perfect balance between luxury and tranquility.
