About Dwayne and Mariana Behrens
Hello, we are the Behrens family and I am Dwayne, my wife is Mariana and our daughter’s name is Mia. I was born a raised in Michigan and I have loved Traverse City ever since my family vacations there when I was young. As kids we fished and swam in the lakes, climbed sleeping bear dunes and terrorized the town on our pedal bikes like normal kids. Traverse City has never lost that small town feeling of my childhood, it is a place where childhood memories are made. When we purchased our home in Traverse City, my childhood dreams became an adult reality. My fun list as a family is about the same as when I was young but now as an adult couple, we love to go wine tasting and relax on the deck with friends and a glass of wine or spend a day boating on the lake. Traverse City is a place where childhood memories are made and family and adult fun continues. Start your memories today by booking your vacation with us.

Not worth it.
The house looks identical to the photos. It appears to be moderately clean and the views are beautiful. However, the old musty smell of the home is terrible. If anyone has asthma or allergies - I would recommend a different rental. It smells as if the home has been aired out in years. Also, there was snow when we came and the house sits at the top of the hill. Our durango in 4 wheel drive slid because the main road was pure ice and we had to park and walk down the steep driveway. Had we brought an elderly person or handicap individual; we would have to forgo this rental entirely. The driveway was covered in snow too. So, that didn’t help w carrying our bags up and down the hill. Overall the home served its purpose but I wouldn’t rent it again.
Nice place great views
Had a nice time wine tasting in Traverse City and home was fairly close. A little dated but nice fireplace inside and fire pit outside. Would stay there again. Views are awesome from the deck
The pictures of this home are beautiful, but being there in person was a very different story. When we pulled up, the front entry was completely covered in cobwebs. The house was VERY musty and dirty, everything was covered in dust. We had to put multiple boxes of baking soda around to try to get rid of some of the musty odor. There was a very old, moldy coffee filter in the coffee maker, so we didn't touch it. The basement toilet ran all week and the dryer didn't work. Rain poured in through the window casing in the living room dripping onto the chair. The most frustrating part was the air conditioning! The owners controlled it via the nest, and kept it set at 76. I asked if they would change it as 76 was way too warm when it was 85 outside. They did not. We rented a boat and kayaks and enjoyed being out on the lake, but being inside the house was very uncomfortable. We expected much more from a place that we rented at a premium price.
This place is fantastic
The house is beautiful. The old saying "you get what you pay for" and you will certainly get your $$ worth here! Wonderful location with an exquisite view of Long Lake. Very quiet neighbors in what seems to be a very safe neighborhood. Driving distance to Traverse City is maybe 10-15 minutes tops. We drove all over the place to the Maritime Museum in the UP and also to Frankenmuth. Both are quite a drive from here but this house was so nice to come home to. The fishing was great. Don't bother with artificial lures on this lake. Go over to the Long Lake Grocery store and buy some night crawlers. The bass and bream will destroy your hooks all day right off the pier. Hope to come back someday!
Beautiful home with a great view.
Favorite part of the home was the view from the living room - very open with natural light looking out onto the lake. There was plenty of room for 12 people to stay for a couple nights. There was a ton of art in the home that sparked conversation which is always fun and the area was beautiful. Overall had a very nice time staying in this home.
Excellent time at Mickey Lake
The house is as beautiful as advertised and no-wake Mickey Lake is perfect if you have small children (or grandchildren) getting their first lake experience. With the upper and lower decks and the many windows both upstairs and downstairs, there was always a great view of the lake. Location is very convenient for day trips to Leland (and the wine tastings), Sleeping Bear dunes, Petosky and all the other great towns near Traverse City. Very enjoyable.
