GREAT WINTER GETAWAY

Perfect location, this charming 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath house is walking distance to the restaurants and pubs. Very close to Tony's Tube World, and a short drive to Cataloochee Ski Slopes. The trout stocked creek is right outside the back door. There is an Outdoor fire pit, and after a day of skiing or shopping relax in the Hot Tub located on the screened in porch. Natures Bounty is a great getaway spot!

About Tom and Karen Albert

We are Tom and Karen Albert. Our daughter,Megan, works with foster children in Haywood County. Karen and I live in a small town not to far from Maggie Valley, called Glenville. I am a Chimney Sweep. Karen is a designer and helps Tom with the office end of Cashiers Chimney Professionals.

Tom and Karen Albert purchased this house in 2003

Why Tom and Karen Albert chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

Why This Property? We fell in love with it! The house and the location. Of course we put a lot of work into the place, new kitchen, added the back portch, added the 1/2 bath in the loft, put in the 'laundry shack', and added air conditioning.

What makes this house unique

Unique Bebefits? I guess the 2 creeks on the property and the location stand out the most. Not to mention the awesome porch by the creek for relaxation.

OTHER PLACES ARE BETTER

  • 2 of 5

I have rented a cabin/cottage for the past 15 years. This one was not as clean as any of the others...I wanted to open up the window in the bedroom to enjoy the cool air and it was so dirty ( and the screen was hanging off the window) that I did not. There were linens in the clothes dryer and the laundry room definitely needs a good cleaning. The oven had definitely not been cleaned since the last renters...we did not cook at all for the 4 days we were there. Curtains and blinds were broken and need to be replaced. The trash had not been picked up either since the last renters because the dumpster was full. The housekeepers need to run a dust mop over the floors because they were dusty. I am NOT a super clean person but I still thought there was a lot of cleaning to do...it was as though we caught them off guard and they did not have time to do a lot of the usual chores---I hope.

It is listed as a mountain view cabin also..was not.

The creek was very nice but the chairs used to sit out by the creek were upside down and real dirty. Based on my experience with rentals in the carolina mountains, this cabin should probably be listed for about 60% of the current dollars and then it would be worth it.

Owner's Response: Dear Jennifer, I am really sorry to hear you were less than impressed with our vacation rental. I do not know why the house was not clean. We have a professional company that cleans for us. This is not how we take care of our property. I have contacted the cleaning company and informed them of your observations. As far as the mountain view, did you look out the big windows in the front of the house, the mountains are stunning there. Especially from the loft area. My apologies again and we are addressing all the issues you had.

Serene experience with nature

  • 5 of 5

This is a true experience of nature to return a place and time with a time much simpler.. The sound of the river and the cabin itself just brought us to a level of peace we had forgotten.. thank u for sharing such a wonderful place .

Location, Location, Location

  • 4 of 5

Like they say in real estate, it's all about location. This rental is located on a dead-end, very short road...just a minute to the main drag where all the action is. There is more than enough room for a large family yet still cozy enough for a romantic stay for two. As far as restaurants go, I give high praise to J. Arthur's where the service, atmosphere and food will make you smile and leave you satisfied. If you like seafood try Maggie's Galley in Waynesville. If you can't catch a trout in the creek to save your soul, then visit a trout pond and you won't leave troutless. Early in the week the area seems more clam and relaxed compared to end of the week/weekend activities.

Clean and serene

  • 5 of 5

I think I could have been happy staying on the back porch the entire week!!! The house is superbly clean and had enough room to fit my in-laws and my kids easily. Kitchen had plenty of room and we cooked many meals in just the 4 short days we had there. Drinking coffee in the morning with the stream in the back yard and the view of the mountain was perfect. It was the perfect blend of tucked away and within walking distance of shops. We will be back!!

Great place to stay in Maggie Valley!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our mountain visit. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. The kids played in the creek behind the house daily. Great location to down town Maggie Valley.
