2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Sleeps 4 adult/4 child, has 3 kayaks, 1 canoe, 1 paddle boat
Come stay on the private side of Lake Anna in our well appointed country home on 5 tranquil acres with a beautiful waterfront boat house which includes a screened porch, large vinyl-planked swim deck, boat slip, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe, a paddle boat, and hammock chair. This cozy home has a kids playhouse with swing and climbing wall, a fire pit, a hammock, ping pong, foosball, and lots of kids toys. Sailaway Bay has booked solid every Summer for many years and has provided a lot of fun and relaxation for its many guests. At only $1582 for a full week's rental during prime Summer season (this is the total price which includes all fees, cleaning, tax, rent), Sailaway Bay is a reasonably priced week of vacation that won't break the family bank.
At Lake Anna, properties are described as either "Waterfront" or "Lake Access." "Waterfront" means the home is directly on the water, sometimes that means there is 300' of shoreline, sometimes it means there is a small inlet or cove with very little waterfront. "Lake Access" means the house isn't located on the water, but usually there is a community common area with a boat ramp and sometimes a boat slip assigned to the house.
Our home is sort of a hybrid between Waterfront and Water Access. The home itself is not located directly on the water, but our property includes a private 50' x 50' parcel of land with a boat house which is located directly on the water on our gorgeous low-traffic cove with very nice western sunset views. Enjoy the boat house's screened porch and large vinyl-decked swim platform w/ladder (no splinters); have a campfire down on the 50 x 50 waterfront parcel where we have a fire ring w/grill. The boat house is for the exclusive use of our renters and the community boat ramp is only a few steps away from our boat house. Take a short cruise in the sit-on-top kayaks (three of them), the big green canoe, or the two-seater paddle boat (life jackets included) provided with the rental and keep watch for American Eagles that frequent the area. Our community has only 13 homes, all on one or more acres, making for a very private and peaceful experience. The private side of Lake Anna has less boat traffic because there are no public parks or marinas and our cove is great for swimming for that reason. Sailaway Bay offers a great waterfront experience at a significant cost savings compared to that of a waterfront rental; you'll enjoy a memorable family vacation at a very reasonable cost.
Additionally, we like this hybrid set up a lot. When we had small children (they are grown now), we liked being a little bit away from the lake so we didn't have to worry about the kids slipping out of the house and down to the water without our knowing. When we go to the water (the boat house) we walk or drive down, it's probably 500 yards.
Our cozy home has a beautiful great room with cathedral ceiling, hardwood floors, ceiling fan and wood burning fireplace. An adjacent dining area is equipped with a table for seating eight. A counter/bar between the dining area and kitchen seats three and is great for extra dinner seating or for supervising the chef while watching TV/DVD/BluRay (Satellite TV). The kitchen is fully equipped and has a double sink, large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, range/oven, toaster oven, blender and other kitchen necessities. The home has 2 bedrooms (queen size bed in each), 2 full baths, and a full basement, but sleeps 4 adults and 4 children with the pull-out couch (queen size) in the great room and two futons in the basement. In the basement you'll find a ping-pong table, foosball, tv/vcr/dvd (satellite TV), piano keyboard, kids toys (Barbies, etc.), and a washer and dryer.
The 5 wooded acres surrounding the house make for a serene setting. Mom can relax in the hammock while dad plays with the kids on the custom fort/swing with climbing wall and rope swing. Later, have a bonfire in the large fire pit. There is a cute front porch for enjoying that morning coffee and watching the blue birds sing 'good morning' and a large back deck with a Weber gas grill for making that perfect lunch or dinner. Enjoy midnight star-gazing that you'll never experience in the city or the suburbs; use our high-powered binoculars to observe birds and stars alike.
We think you'll thoroughly enjoy a stay at Sailaway Bay as we have for many years. We try our very best to keep our home well maintained and equipped for some good family fun (canoe, kayaks, play area, toys, movies, etc.).
Please note that during the summer months I only rent the home by the week.

About the Owner
About TC and Karen Chadwick
We love Sailaway Bay and have enjoyed it for many years. We chose our home because it was located on 5 peaceful acres in a small community with a deeded waterfront area where we built a boat house. We've watched our kids grow up enjoying the lake and now we're sharing it with other families at a very reasonable cost which is considerable less than that of a true waterfront rental.
Why TC and Karen Chadwick chose Virginia
Our home is a hybrid between a water-access home and a waterfront home. Our home is not on the water, but our boat house is on the water. So it affords guests a tranquil vacation experience with waterfront benefits at the cost of a water-access rental.
What makes this house unique
The five acres make the home extremely private and relaxing. We love getting our morning coffee and sitting on the front porch and watching the birds. In the evening, a camp fire with the stars is awesome. The boat house is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing and sunbathing. There is plenty of fallen wood for camp fires, a great play area with swings and a climbing wall with fort, a hammock, large back deck, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe, and a paddle boat.

Nice place to stay
This worked out great. Enjoyed swimming and kayaking from the boat house. The beds in the 2 bedrooms where very comfortable. We had a nice bond fire that evceryone gathered around to cook hot dogs and marshmellows. The basement with all the games and TV where great the grandchildren and quest that visited us during the 3 weeks we where there. We have many great memories because this home and all it's amenities made for a perfect vacation.
First Time Visit to Lake Anna
This was our first but not our last visit to Lake Anna. If you want to get away from the DC rat race, this place will take you there. The house was clean and very well equipped, all we needed was the food and linens. Our children loved the use of the kayaks. It was our youngest child's first time in one and she was a natural. Mr. Chadwick's recommendation to have his neighbor take us out on the lake fishing was spot on. He knew exactly where to go and as my wife said "has the patience of a saint" as he took me, my son and his friend out fishing (two 10 year old boys)and remained calm the entire time!!! They caught their fill of fish and had the time of their lives doing it. We were only able to stay for a few day so we look forward to our next visit which will definitely be much longer.
