About TC and Karen Chadwick
We love Sailaway Bay and have enjoyed it for many years. We chose our home because it was located on 5 peaceful acres in a small community with a deeded waterfront area where we built a boat house. We've watched our kids grow up enjoying the lake and now we're sharing it with other families at a very reasonable cost which is considerable less than that of a true waterfront rental.
Why TC and Karen Chadwick chose Bumpass
Our home is a hybrid between a water-access home and a waterfront home. Our home is not on the water, but our boat house is on the water. So it affords guests a tranquil vacation experience with waterfront benefits at the cost of a water-access rental.
What makes this House unique
The five acres make the home extremely private and relaxing. We love getting our morning coffee and sitting on the front porch and watching the birds. In the evening, a camp fire with the stars is awesome. The boat house is great for swimming, kayaking, fishing and sunbathing. There is plenty of fallen wood for camp fires, a great play area with swings and a climbing wall with fort, a hammock, large back deck, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe, and a paddle boat.

Quiet and relaxing stay
The property is great and lived up to the pictures and description. It is a very quiet property; the only slight drawback is the time to drive to things like the grocery store or ice cream shop. We were often virtually alone on the cove at the boathouse. Our kids (all are in double digit ages) enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, paddleboat, and fishing from the dock. The game tables in the basement were also a hit. I did not know how warm the water would be until we were there -- it is almost too warm for me (I grew up in New England), but very clear water and easy to swim, float and play in. We had not been to Lake Anna before and I would definitely consider coming back. We had a great time! Thanks.
5 stars all the way!!!!
Our family had a wonderful time at this property. It was so clean, quiet and serene. I was expecting great things based on other reviews and was pleasantly surprised when my expectations were exceeded. The boat house steals the show but don't let a cup of coffee on the front porch pass you by (it is amazing). Also can't emphasize enough the beauty from the dock during sunset. It is a true "Wow!" moment. I loved the cleanliness, simple check in and check out and responsiveness from the wonderful hosts. Last but not least I won the family ping pong tournament and look to hold the title for years to come!!!!
Our family really enjoyed a weekend stay at the house
We enjoyed the deck for a bbq, hanging out at the boat house, and canoeing. We were four adults and a toddler. Our toddler old enjoyed the slide outside, and the basement full of toys. Her favorites were the puppets and the Mr. Potato Heads. The hosts were very responsive and provided us lots of information ahead of our stay that was super helpful! We'll hopefully be back again soon!
We had a wonderful time during our week at Lake Anna. We were a little worried about how the kids (and we) would handle not having any Wi-Fi at the house, but it turned out too be a nice escape, and excuse to get away from work! The house was perfect for our family of four, and had all the essentials to facilitate a rehabbing vacation with kids (movies, playset, bbq, fire pit, hammock, books, toys, etc.)
Boat house was also wonderful with kayaks, a canoe, and paddle boat. The only thing we wish it had was a place to store things so we didn't have to bring all the boating/fishing supplies back and forth every day. We ended up just parking our car at the boat house and storing stuff in the car.
Overall, a nice relaxing time. Highly recommended.
