About the Owner
Our wedding was in the front yard of this property--35 years ago. We have offered Puget View Cottage for many years, initially as a bed and breakfast, and as a vacation rental for about eight years. We have met many wonderful people from around the world, and look forward to adding you to our list of former guests.
During 2012 and '13 we traveled overseas, completing many long distance hikes we had long dreamed of doing---the Coast to Coast Trail in England, West Highland Way, The Camino across northern Spain, Walker's Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt, Kilimanjaro and a safari (and two months of volunteering in the Burundi :) Two months in the hinterlands of Nepal, a summit of Fuji in Japan, and JMT and Whitney in California---whew! In 2014 we completed our final leg of the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington.
We look forward to sharing the magic of this peaceful, beautiful part of the world--with you!

Million dollar view!
My husband & I stayed 3 nights at this lovely cottage. All was clean, the grounds beautiful! Had a picture window looking out to the Puget Sound and on a sunny day could see the Olympic mountain range. Enjoyed the breakfast goodies left for us. Barbara & Dick the owners are great people!
Cozy cottage with amazing surroundings
Wonderful small, private cottage on the edge of the Puget Sound. We woke up to the sounds of sea birds in the morning & took the short walk next door to the State Park & down to the water where I found hundreds of sand dollars & the kayaks provided by the inn keepers. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, the cottage has everything you need to relax & enjoy. We never got to meet the inn keepers because they were away, but they left very thoughtful notes to us. We hope to return to this slice of heaven someday.
A fantastic experiece
I was totally amazed and thrilled to see this property with an absolutely fantastic setting and a view of the lower Puget Sound that was one of the most amazing vistas of my life. This small (teeny) cabin had charm, style and everything needed for our 10 day stay. Small at first the cabin grew as the days passed. Everything needed was provided. The tv(teeny) was turned on once and then forgotten. Walking to the nearby State park, reading, sitting, looking and just being were all small pleasures that served us well.
Dick and Barbara were the perfect hosts. They were friendly, helpful and full of life and shared their property with us in the nicest manner. Their log cabin was on the property and both cabins fit perfectly into the space with incredible views and manicured grounds providing a wonderfully relaxed vacation.
A lovely cottage with a spectacular view!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 18 day stay at Puget View Cottage! The neighborhood is heavily treed with Douglas Firs, quiet, and the street ends at the entrance to Tolmie State Park. The homes are tucked among the trees and perched on a cliff offering epic views of the Puget Sound. Barbara & Dick are delightful hosts! The cottage was as cute as shown in the listing, very clean and well maintained. Shopping and downtown Olympia are very close by, despite the wonderful secluded ambience of this property.
For an unusual pizza experience, try Dirty Dave's Pizza and order their signature "Gay 90's Special"! And, since you're in the NW have a side of steamer clams!
Stay with Barbara & Dick!
A Setting That Just Breathes Relaxation
Arrived feeling the stresses of daily life, and left 3 days later feeling refreshed and ready for the next round (though sad we had to leave)
The refreshment began the moment we pulled into the driveway. The grounds are well kept and give the sense of a peaceful garden. Then you see the view of the expansive Puget Sound with the Olympic Mountains in the distance, and just breathe a sigh of contentment.
The quaint cottage is placed on a bluff with a small manicured yard out front. The grassed area is nicely equipped with your own private chairs, a picnic table and a hammock.
When you walk inside a large front window gives you an immediate view of the Sound. Found ourselves staring at that view repeatedly. To help with that, the owners have left a pair of binoculars there for you. Nice touch!
The place itself is small but cozy, and is just perfect for two people who just want to relax. It is equipped with many well thought out amenities such as welcoming snacks in the kitchen area, books and games to enjoy, kayaks available for your use and a fire pit with wood down near the water's edge. Though we didn't take advantage of the latter two this time, it was nice to have them available.
Owners live on the property and are very welcoming and friendly. No worries about privacy though. Though available if you need them, they leave you to enjoy the grounds and are no bother. You feel like it's your place.
Don't miss out on a walk in nearby Tolmie State Park and a visit to the Nisqually Nature Reserve. Both add to the relaxation theme.
Lots more to share, but overall a winner for us.
Definitely coming back!!
Cozy and beautiful
Our hosts, Dick and Barb, were very gracious hosts. We knew they were there should we have any need. I did think that the cabin could have benefitted from at least one more blanket for the sofa bed, or an afghan or throw to wrap up on while on the couch. We were just a stone's throw from Tolme State Park and enjoyed the walk on the beach. So many birds including a bald eagle! This was so much better than a hotel room to visit with my Washington family!
From the Owner
“Dick is from Oregon, Barb from Alaska. We met here, never dreaming we would stay this long, but why would we want to live anywhere else? Especially when Barb says 'this is like Alaska, but you don't need a float plane to enjoy it.'”
