Charming downtown bungalow in Laurel Park historic district; walk to all

Bedrooms 1
Property type bungalow
Minimum Stay 7 - 30 nights

About the property

House, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 4 Sleeps

A classic 'old Florida' bungalow, newly updated to provide you a comfortable refuge in downtown Sarasota. Walk through the pretty Laurel Park neighborhood (recently named a National Historic District) to nearby urban amenities: Main Street shops, restaurants and movies, Towles Court artists' colony with galleries and studios, Payne Park, the beautiful Sarasota bayfront, the Saturday farmers market.

The new bathroom and updated kitchen are classically styled, squeaky-clean and fully equipped. Enjoy sunny days on the lanai (complete with Florida-style louvered windows) or the backyard stone patio furnished with table, chairs and umbrella; pick citrus fruit from your own trees. Tile floors throughout continue the cool but tropical feel.

Ten minutes in the car will take you to Lido or Siesta Key beaches with their famous white sands.

'My wife and I just want to say that we were completely happy with the house rental. It was more spacious than any hotel room, perfectly clean, with a comfortable bed, extra rooms for work or reading, and a great flat screen TV with DVD player. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and entertaining with a fabulous outdoor grill and professional utensils (something the guy cares about). The location just off downtown made it convenient to sightseeing at the harbor, attending shows, and having fun on rental bikes. It was an ideal choice for our vacation. Thanks.' - Mark & Peggy

Please note that prices listed here do not include 12% Florida tax, cleaning fee and refundable security deposit (variable based on length of stay). Please call or email to confirm total cost.

One month minimum rental is preferred during high season, January to March.

Wonderful Rental Property

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house, not the cottage. I've rated various aspects below on a 0-10 scale:

Location: 10 (close to downtown and St. Armand's Circle, etc.)

Cleanliness: 10 (spick and span; looked newly painted)

How well stocked: 10 (better than any condo we have stayed at)

Responsiveness to Issues: 10 (had a small plumbing issue, which she took care of immediately)

Spaciousness: 10 (includes an office and den area)

Quietness: 8 (at a dead end and no homes across the street, but one neighbor did have drum music in the wee hours; mildly irritating)

Amenities: 10 (Great patio, including Weber propane grill)

Tips: Because the water heater is on-demand, not a tank, it takes a little while to get hot water, but not a big issue. If the wi-fi router isn't working well, unplug it, wait a minute, and plug it back in. That's a common issue with Comcast routers.

Excellent, comfortable Sarasota "getaway" house

  • 5 of 5

We loved this clean, well-appointed, exceptionally well maintained house near Sarasota's downtown attractions and a short drive to its beautiful beaches. The grill made for a memorable family barbecue amidst the pleasant landscaping. The house was even equipped with a selection of beach books. The owner has thought of everything and we would happily rent this house again. We will certainly recommend it to friends.

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our 4 weeks holiday. The Laurel Park area is an upscale neighbourhood which provides easy walking access to the Sarasota downtown and bayfront. Siesta Key beach , Van Wezel Theatre, and St Armand Circle are a short 5 minute drive. The rental is on a quiet street with virtually no traffic. The owner and/or property manager are easily available to assist if needed. The photos on the listing represent the rental accurately. The property was clean and well-maintained. We will return !

Charming bungalow in historic district

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four, my husband and I and our eleven-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son spent at week at this rental. The bungalow served as a great base for our first stay in and exploration of Sarasota and the surrounding area. The house, located in an historic district filled with eclectic bungalows, was clean and comfortably furnished, which made it easy to relax. We walked to shops and the Saturday Farmer’s Market downtown as well as to various restaurants, including some just a block or two away. We liked having a kitchen available so that we could make simple meals for the times we did not want to go out. Also, having Wi-Fi available for the times we had to check-in with work was convenient as was having a full-size washer and dryer available after a day at the beach or other outdoor activity.

A quaint bungalow in a great location

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice bungalow in a great location. It was an easy walk to downtown Sarasota, with its fabulous restaurants and night life. However one need not walk all the way downtown to enjoy good restaurants as there are great ones right in the Laurel district. My favorite was the Fish Camp by the Burns Court Theater. Marianne (the owner) was a delight to work with. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Sarasota area.
