About the Owner
About Larry Flynn
I was born in Seattle in 1956 and then moved to San Jose CA the following year. In the words of Lily Tomlin I moved as soon as I found out where I was and came back home to Seattle. 6 years after that I moved to Vashon and haven't looked back. In addition to The Last Resort I have worked on the island as a bus driver for the last 31 years.
Larry Flynn purchased this house in 1989

Doesn't get any better! We only had two days on the island, but loved every minute. Our host, Larry was awesome!

Charming Vashon Cottage
This was the perfect getaway spot for our friend retreat. It had stunning views overlooking the sound from the hot tub and deck. The cabin was clean and organized. It gave a rustic feel but with modern conviences (electric heat). Also, it wasn't too far to drive into downtown or catch the Fauntleroy/Southworth ferry (15 mins).
Larry responded promptly to any questions I had. He was very easy to reach by phone or vrbo messenger. I highly recommend this cottage for future use!
Worth Every Penny
I worked in the Hospitality industry for over 5 years. I used to pitch people on staying in a resort with things they didn't need nor want for outrageous sums of money. This place had more than I bargained for in the best way possible; for what I paid I was expecting a lot less.
The cabin was filled with all the basic amenities you could want or need. The tap water was sweet and I was expecting more of an irony-sulfur well water. The air was the freshest I have ever smelt. The cabin was clean and well-maintained. I am a city boy and this gave me an appreciation for the great outdoors, but never made me feel intimidated. Larry was nice as could be and gave us absolute privacy. It made for an enjoyable experience and I can't wait to go back.
The island was amazing and you will find great food and shops all through the downtown section. It made for epic dates as we explored this weirdly wonderful world. The type of place that makes you want to write poetry or paint; the type of place that makes me regret spending 40+ hours a week stuck in an office. It was so nice I even had fun looking in the local real estate office windows at beachfront property I could never afford.
It was a romantic getaway gift for my girl. Come to find out I was in desperate need of a little romance and a getaway myself.
Great place to relax
Great place to spend a few days away from it all. My wife and I enjoyed the peacefulness of this cabin, and Larry is a great host. The cabin is cozy, the hot tub is relaxing after a long day and the view is awesome. Thanks for having us, Larry!
Nice and quite place to stay.
The Last Resort Guest House was exactly what we had hoped it would be. For a friends reunion, it was the perfect setting for laughter, wine, and new memories. Larry, our host, was so sweet to come over to greet us. The house was well-appointed, tastefully decorated, and very comfortable. The ladder to the loft was a little challenging, but very charming. I wish the path to the beach had been a little less precarious, as that would have been the cherry on top of our trip. Note: I have mobility impairment issues, so for most people, the ladder and path would be no problem. I would definitely recommend this lovely guest house to anyone wanting to feel like you're many miles away from the hustle and bustle. I'll be going back, for sure.
Activity and Interests
Vashon has many things to offer to you the traveller. Wilderness hikes along magnificant ponds and
through woodlands. You might also enjoy the trails through the woods or perhaps a beach walk would
be more relaxing which can be accesed from the cottage. For the more adventerous, hayacks are
offered at the marina and there is a bike shop with bikes for rent to those that would like to just
peddle around out here on our country lanes.
Come now and build memories to last a life time with that someone special!
