House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 8 Sleeps
You will fall in love with Cedar Lodge, located in the picturesque village of Henderson Harbor on 150 feet of beautiful Lake Ontario waterfront. The cottage was originally built in 1892 and was totally remodeled in 2006 with all of the modern conveniences including wireless internet, cable television, telephone, fully equipped kitchen, etc. This cozy cottage has beautiful sunset and sunrise views from the breakfast room, front porch, and private beach house. There is a rock beach with gradual decline perfect for swimming, boating or just skipping rocks. Relax on the sundeck or in the unique beach house or play in the water using the single or double kayak or paddleboat that come with the cottage. Fish right off the dock or rent a charter and enjoy some of the best bass and walley fishing in the United States! Ride your bike or take a short 3 minute drive to the heart of Henderson Harbor. Use the gas grill to cook up the day's fresh catch or take a boat ride into town to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Roast marshmallows and make your own 'Smores using the fire pit in the private front yard. Whatever you pleasure, Cedar Lodge has it all!
Just a perfect relaxing getaway
About the Owner
About Sarah Haun
We are the owners of Cedar Lodge, and have spent the last 14 years living and working overseas in the countries of Morocco, Lithuania, and Costa Rica. Cedar Lodge is our 'home away from home' and a safe, cozy place to land upon coming back to the U.S. in the summertime. We have three children who adore being at the cottage. We find the simplicity of the area gives us the feeling of being "back in time" and allows us to reconnect as a family.
Sarah Haun purchased this house in 2006
Why Sarah Haun chose Lake Ontario
We purchased Cedar Lodge as a place to come home to, as our family has been traveling and working overseas for the past fourteen years. I had grown up in Henderson during the summers with my parents and siblings, so this is a very special area with a lot of great memories. My parents' house is down the road a ways. Cedar Lodge is our "happy place" and a real home where we can slow down and reconnect as a family. We are so happy to share it with others so that other families can have the same experiences. It brings us a lot of joy to hear how special the cottage is to others.
What makes this house unique
The cottage offers us the beauty of summertime in the U.S. - long walks and bike rides, jumping off the dock into the lake, swimming, kayaking, catching fireflies, roasting marshmallows for S'mores, long games of Monopoly, family campfires, reading books in the sun, farmers markets, and leisurely days spending time together as a family....

Just a perfect relaxing getaway
Cedar lodge had everything you could want for a nice family getaway. There was plenty of sleeping space, private access to the lake with a dock and kayaks. Two fire pits for roasting marshmallows. A propane grill and a table for outdoor eating. And finally the deck is amazing for sipping coffee and sunrise, relaxing in the sun during the day and amazing sunsets in the evening. You won't be disappointed!
Just got back from our week of vacation. It was amazing! This house is everything the pictures make it out to be and the owner was wonderful to deal with! The view from the master bedroom was so serene. Loved sitting and drinking our coffee on the porch and the deck at the boat house. Kayaked all over and walked many miles on the roads around there. Highly recommend this property!
Home away from home
This has been our home away from home for the past 4 years! We love the view from the beach house or down on the dock. We spend most of our days swimming or soaking up the sun. This property also offers privacy which is something we were looking for. Even on rainy days we spend time protected in the beach house and can still enjoy the sound of the waves on the shoreline. At night grab a stick or roast a hotdog by the fire and enjoy the SUNSET - THE BEST PART OF THE DAY! The lodge itself has great accomodations. We are a family of 5 and we each have our own space. It is very clean and has all the amenities of home. We enjoy the idea of being away from home without missing the advantages of home. Our kids love to go on adventures on the property, swimming, collecting rocks, and movies inside every night. We also look forward to boating, biking and running as the area has plenty of options for this. The area is full of attractions like boating and fishing in Henderson Harbor. For a delicious perch dinner try The Gill House! Our favorite is beautiful Sackets Harbor NY, which is a neighboring town filled with great restuarants and shopping. (We personally love Tin Pan Galley). After much research of the area and staying in other parts of Lake Ontario, nothing comes close to Cedar Lodge. We look forward to spending time away as a family each year and this is the best place to do it.
The Cedars affords all the creature comforts we enjoy . It is also cute , clean and private .
Easy to see the pride the owners take in their cottage.
We kept our boat at a K.OA. Just up the road , great facility.
I will never forget the sunsets over Lake Ontario from the back porch and I plan to return.
great family vacation
Great family vacation - quiet and private. Our family played games, read, swam, ate ice cream, grilled, TALKED, went on walks and bike rides and had a ball. The beds are so comfortable. We loved going out fishing on the kayaks and watching the sunset from the paddleboat. The beach house was great - like being on a boat. We loved our time here and will be back.
My husband and myself had an absolutely wonderful time at Cedar Lodge. We found our surroundings to be lovely, private and most of all relaxing-- as we would recline on the beach house porch listening to the waves of Lake Ontario. What a great romantic vacation !! Loved being on the water and with our own private dock, along w/ supplied kayaks and paddleboat. Additionally, this was our first vacation where we brought our dog. She loved the water, loved the fenced in yard and quiet surroundings.
Definitely would love to return to this wonderful slice of heaven!!
