About Sarah Haun

We are the owners of Cedar Lodge, and have spent the last 14 years living and working overseas in the countries of Morocco, Lithuania, and Costa Rica. Cedar Lodge is our 'home away from home' and a safe, cozy place to land upon coming back to the U.S. in the summertime. We have three children who adore being at the cottage. We find the simplicity of the area gives us the feeling of being "back in time" and allows us to reconnect as a family.

Sarah Haun purchased this house in 2006

Why Sarah Haun chose Henderson Harbor

We purchased Cedar Lodge as a place to come home to, as our family has been traveling and working overseas for the past fourteen years. I had grown up in Henderson during the summers with my parents and siblings, so this is a very special area with a lot of great memories. My parents' house is down the road a ways. Cedar Lodge is our "happy place" and a real home where we can slow down and reconnect as a family. We are so happy to share it with others so that other families can have the same experiences. It brings us a lot of joy to hear how special the cottage is to others.

What makes this house unique

The cottage offers us the beauty of summertime in the U.S. - long walks and bike rides, jumping off the dock into the lake, swimming, kayaking, catching fireflies, roasting marshmallows for S'mores, long games of Monopoly, family campfires, reading books in the sun, farmers markets, and leisurely days spending time together as a family....

Quaint lakeshore retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Four adults and two small dogs spent a week here leading up to Labor Day weekend 2017.

Only mishaps were no WiFi or TV for first day or so due to storm taking trees out just prior to our arrival. Notified owner and BAM! Things were dealt with immediately! Can't ask for a better response, after all, the weather is not the responsibility of the owner! Cottage is pleasingly rustic with prime Lake Ontario views! Beach house and its deck were a great retreat! Sliding doors on beach house allowed cross breezes that along with sound of the lake waves on the shore could lull you to dreamland in a heartbeat! House had all the amenities we needed for cooking, relaxing, recharging! This is some beautiful country up here with lots of history. Owner recommended restaurants were spot on! Tin Pan Galley was amazing!

Have no issues with recommending this place to friends and family in the future.

Thank you Sarah for sharing your house!

Wonderful vacation

  • 5 of 5

Very private and cozy, my family enjoyed this cottage on our week away from the hustle and bustle of "real life." Upon entering, we were immediately struck by the gorgeous view of the lake. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck and listening to the waves on the beach. Our dog loved swimming in the lake and we loved kayaking around the bay. We had campfires and caught fireflies at night - a perfect get away. We will be back.

Restful Relaxing Retreat

  • 4 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed our vacation at this cozy cottage on the lake. The private lake front cottage is ideal for those seeking peace and solitude. Waking up to the serene view of the sun rise over the lake is how I dream of rising every day. The sunset is equally breath taking and tranquil. This vacation would have been nothing less than spectacular if the weather would have been better. My dreams of landing a big lake trout were definitely hampered by lots of above normal rain fall.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am so glad that you had a nice time at the cottage. I do hope that you will return someday in the future - and crossing my fingers that if you do, you will have better weather....and that the trout will be biting! Sincerely, Sarah Haun

Just a perfect relaxing getaway

  • 5 of 5

Cedar lodge had everything you could want for a nice family getaway. There was plenty of sleeping space, private access to the lake with a dock and kayaks. Two fire pits for roasting marshmallows. A propane grill and a table for outdoor eating. And finally the deck is amazing for sipping coffee and sunrise, relaxing in the sun during the day and amazing sunsets in the evening. You won't be disappointed!

Happy vacationers!

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from our week of vacation. It was amazing! This house is everything the pictures make it out to be and the owner was wonderful to deal with! The view from the master bedroom was so serene. Loved sitting and drinking our coffee on the porch and the deck at the boat house. Kayaked all over and walked many miles on the roads around there. Highly recommend this property!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

This has been our home away from home for the past 4 years! We love the view from the beach house or down on the dock. We spend most of our days swimming or soaking up the sun. This property also offers privacy which is something we were looking for. Even on rainy days we spend time protected in the beach house and can still enjoy the sound of the waves on the shoreline. At night grab a stick or roast a hotdog by the fire and enjoy the SUNSET - THE BEST PART OF THE DAY! The lodge itself has great accomodations. We are a family of 5 and we each have our own space. It is very clean and has all the amenities of home. We enjoy the idea of being away from home without missing the advantages of home. Our kids love to go on adventures on the property, swimming, collecting rocks, and movies inside every night. We also look forward to boating, biking and running as the area has plenty of options for this. The area is full of attractions like boating and fishing in Henderson Harbor. For a delicious perch dinner try The Gill House! Our favorite is beautiful Sackets Harbor NY, which is a neighboring town filled with great restuarants and shopping. (We personally love Tin Pan Galley). After much research of the area and staying in other parts of Lake Ontario, nothing comes close to Cedar Lodge. We look forward to spending time away as a family each year and this is the best place to do it.
