House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 8 Sleeps
About Meghan Casey
We are former Peaks Islanders, having lived here year round in the 1990s. We built this house in 2007, after being lucky enough to find a lot for sale in our price range. Chuck is a builder, and the cottage is typical of one of the houses Chuck builds---energy efficient and passive solar, with big, south-facing windows, lots of natural light, and open spaces.
Meghan Casey purchased this House in 2007
Why Meghan Casey chose Peaks Island
This is a great location for families because the shore is a one-minute walk away. The island is a safe, adventurous place for children to ride. Our cottage is also perfect for a romantic get away, as our area of the island is quieter, removed from the hustle and bustle of down front.
What makes this House unique
The loft upstairs is great for children, in that five or six can sleep there comfortably. It also has a queen sized bed, so it is a nice third bedroom if three couples are traveling.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
We loved our stay here and can't wait to be back next summer. The cottage is an easy walk to town and a stone's throw from the back shore. Meghan was quick to reply with any questions and concerns I had before and during our trip. Thank you for letting us stay in your little slice of paradise! Until next summer, Peaks!
Perfect spot for a week on Peaks
The cottage is very bright and roomy. It wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. The counters had dirt and crumbs behind the items on the counter. The baseboards looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while and the floor wasn’t the cleanest. I left the cottage cleaner than I found it.
That being said it was fairly spacious and very bright. The location was great, only 3/4ths of a mile from the ferry and extremely close to one of my favorite beaches.
After finding numerous DVDs we were surprised and a little disappointed there was no player.
All in all we enjoyed the stay.
Thank you for the comments. We are glad you enjoyed the cottage and the island, but we are sorry you found some issues. We clean well between each visit, including mopping the floor in every room (most of which is wood). I am sorry you found spots not to your satisfaction. We may have missed a few spots and would have gladly come out and cleaned them again had we known. Ditto with the crumbs. We dump out the toaster between visitors, but that toaster seems to be hard to fully empty. I get frustrated because I find crumbs myself! As for the baseboards, they are, indeed, scuffed. We plan to paint them during our own two weeks at the cottage later this summer. Thanks, though, for reporting all of this and for cleaning so well when you left. It was, indeed, spotless. I am glad you enjoyed the location. It is such a lovely spot.
Wonderful place for families
Beautiful home with great spaces for one or two families to stay. Nice views, peaceful setting. Short walk to a rocky beach (beautiful views and good for exploring) and not too far of a walk to the sandy beach. Will definitely be back!
Really nice, clean place. Close to the water. I would definitely rent again. Meghan was really nice as well.
Nice house not far from the beach (pebbles )
Not ffar from the ferry by car but not walkiing distance with luggage .( but ok without ) .
Nice house.with a deck only one block from the sea . Partial seaview from upstairs . Nicely equipped . Great for kids .
Cozy place that slept 8 with no problem! Loved the big loft with 4 beds so each kid got their own space! Fully stocked kitchen. My only suggestion is to add a mirror somewhere in the house . difficult for everyone to be getting ready in one bathroom and just one more mirror hanging somewhere nice and bright would have helped so much! My only complaint is that the beds are not made and upon arrival you have to make all 6 beds. I have 4 kids and elderly parents and that was a lot of work for me after a long day of travel.
Thank you for this suggestion. We had a mirror in the master bedroom, but it was recently broken and we had not yet replaced it when you were there. I agree---it is so important, especially when many of our guests are renting our cottage to attend island weddings. We will add a new mirror ASAP....as far as the beds go, that is a typical island thing--people sometimes bring their own bedding when coming for a lengthy stay, so we don't make them up. It is a good idea, though. Perhaps we will add that as a potential request of renters. Thanks again, and I am glad you enjoyed your stay.
