About Meghan Casey

We are former Peaks Islanders, having lived here year round in the 1990s. We built this house in 2007, after being lucky enough to find a lot for sale in our price range. Chuck is a builder, and the cottage is typical of one of his houses--energy efficient and passive solar, with big, south-facing windows, lots of natural light, and open spaces.

Meghan Casey purchased this house in 2007

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family of five. The house was just the right size and the relatively new construction made it feel very comfortable.

We thought it was in the perfect location. Close to the water, and just a few minutes from "town". We easily took the bike ride into town a few times a day. Even our youngest (10 years) was able to do it without a problem.

We highly recommend this house for a family vacation!

Easy to book, great stay

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time on Peaks in the first week of October. We went to Portland most days: it's about a 10-15min walk from the Ferry to the cottage, and just a 15 min ferry ride to Old Port in Portland. Both the walk and the ferry ride are beautiful and very enjoyable.

The cottage is great. You can hear the crash of the waves and the ocean that's about 100 yards down the street. The cottage itself is gorgeous and has just about everything you could need. Because it's newer, it's well-insulated which was helpful on the one or two chilly days we had (was really otherwise perfect weather).

Booking was easy. The owners are respond quickly to inquiries.

Owners so easy to work with! Great choice.

  • 4 of 5

The owners of this cottage were excellent to work with and very nice! Lots of 'extras' and just about anything you need already at the house. Roomy common areas, two downstairs bedrooms, upstairs sleeps multiple people, only one bath. The house is a short walk to the back shore but not directly on the water, thus the more affordable price. Newly remodeled, but watch out for squeaky floor!

Drawbacks: Not the best bed in the world and no shades to pull at night, except in bedrooms and bath. I may be paranoid, but I like my privacy!

Overall, we were please with our choice and recommend this property to others.

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5

My family of five stayed at this cottage for two weeks last summer. We could not have had a better time. The cottage is brand new so has many features some of the older cottages lack--like a washer/dryer for beach towels and a dishwasher. It is also clean, clean, clean! Our young kids loved the huge loft--they had the best views of all of us. The only complaint is that the downstairs bedrooms were a bit small--but they had queen sized beds, and storage under the beds--kid of like a sailboat-- so they were fine for us. We could hear the ocean at night when sitting on the deck and walk to it in seconds. There is a small pebble beach at the end of the road, perfect for my young kids. The neighbors had a kayak which we borrowed and launched right from the beach. It is a bit of a walk to the store--about 10 minutes, but we rode bikes and loved it. We are headed back next year.

great house in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had seven people staying at the house for the week. While it's not a large house, we were very comfortable for the week even on the rainy days where we stayed inside. The open layout and the vaulted ceiling made the house feel huge.

The location is wonderful, just a minute walk down a short road to a wonderful rocky outcropping where we basked in the sun and watched the waves. We had a family wedding on the island over the weekend and the location of the house made it so convenient.

The house is in beautiful condition and is very clean, which I appreciated. With the extended family staying there, it was great to have a full kitchen with the necessities of preparing meals. There is a gas grill, which made cooking out very handy.

I highly recommend this house to anyone considering a stay on Peaks!
