We have greatly enjoyed our week in your cottage. The views are spectacular, the proximity to the bay front so convenient, and the quality of the house and furnishings beautiful, comfortable and welcoming. We only wish we could stay longer.
Thank you for this opportunity,

Heart of Newport and nicely appointed!
If you're on the coast, Newport is about as central a place as you can be. And while numerous Embarcadeo owners are offering up their gray-shingled places for rent, Craig and Lisa's home is a MUCH better idea overall (provided you're not the party crowd...)
The home is cut into the bluff overlooking the Newport bayfront literally a block up. The two decks pictured (especially the west deck) allow for a pretty special view of the bay and the bridge - it's easy to take your meal outside and just watch birds, seals/sea lions and boats aplenty.
But once you're inside, the hardwood floors, comfortable furniture, and decor of the place make it feel more like you're in a home-home (rather than a vacation home) Both bedrooms are exactly as captured in the pictures, and as it is an older home, the owners have taken steps to make sure there's storage for your personal belongings (as a converted media cabinet in the master bedroom serves as an additional closet)
Although not a party home, the downstairs has a top-shelf pub setting with a wet bar recessed off a great room featuring a good pool table and dart board. Although I'm no pool expert, I've played enough to know when a table, balls, and cues have been abused - not the case here. Decent 'house cues', a 9-ball rack, & even a flat screen for sports round out the feel. Round out the pub feel with a natural-gas BBQ just outside this room...
It wouldn't be a review without mentioning the potential caveats. Note these are not negatives - rather, things one should be aware of if you're staying in this home. 1) Kitchen - Overall very bright with newer appliances and a solid array of tools/pots/pans for cooking. Do note that you will need to purchase/bring your own basic needs (oil, sugar, flour for instance) if you cook from scratch. Cleaning materials also there (the first home to ever have a dish brush), but bring some extra 13-gallon garbage bags. 2) Bathroom - Like everything else in the home = nice and updated, but be advised there's ONLY one. Plenty of room in there and such (decent sized shower, as well), but with 4 people in the house - it can get busy 3) Parking - On the street outside the home, but for suburb folk used to secured garage/d-way parking - do know you may be challenging hordes of Newport tourists forced to park 'up the hill' from the bayfront (at night, though... never a problem)
A great week overall in a rock-solid place the owners clearly have pride in; thanks again!
Great View of Marina, Waterfront, Bay and Bridge
We stayed in this lovely restored, historic home for two months and couldn't have found a better place to enjoy the fishing town of Newport. The home has fabulous views of the crab fishing fleet, the waterfront and the Yaquina Bay bridge. Tucked away behind a hill, we were spared from the full force of winter storms, but just a few short blocks from the bluffs where we could view the waves crashing against the jetty and witness Coast Guard rescues of floundering fishing vessels. The home has a fabulous kitchen with lots of room for our provisions. The neighbors are all locally employed and very helpful. We enjoyed crabbing for Dungeness, red rock and brown rock crab in the bay. On occasion, we were able to purchase fresh Dungeness crab from Rod and Rocky on the FV Orca at pier 5. Clamming for cockles was productive, but challenging due to deep "muck". And catching multiple herring at a time on a Sabiki rig was fun. Some of the best days were those spent Inside with a cup of coffee just watching the world go by. Working with Craig was a pleasure and he was very flexible when our travel plans changed due to an injury. It was hard to leave this place.
A beautiful home with view and short walk to town.
Dear Craig and Lisa, Thank you for giving us the opportunity to rent your charming house! Everything was exceptional and was perfect for our family of four. Your home has so many fine touches, its hard to explain them all. We especially enjoyed the view, the pool table, and the spices in the kitchen for our Thanksgiving turkey :) We enjoyed walks on the beach, Nye Beach, downtown Newport and wandering up the coast to see
the coastline. The fish market in Newport was wonderful! We bought some fish and cooked another meal so we could enjoy your nice home and view.
We hope to come back again.

Great time, beautiful view, excellent weather.
The most wonderful home in Newport!
This is home has every detail in place. I highly recommend this lovely home to any one who appreciates fine finishes, a well appointed kitchen, and amazing views!
Activity and Interests
With bridge and bay views from almost every window in the house and from both decks you will find yourself relaxing while taking in the many sights and sounds of the bay such as bald eagles, harbor seals, fishing vessels and the historic bay bridge. During winter months storm watching is a favorite past time of the locals. Grab a hot toddy, curl up with someone special and watch as spectacular storms march across the bay or challenge your partner to billiards and darts in the game room. Also enjoy the beautiful night time views. As night falls, the harbor comes alive with lights dancing on the water. 'Truly a mellowing experience'
If you feel like heading out try fishing, crabbing, clamming, shopping, dinning, whale watching, hiking and beach combing all available within walking distance of the cottage.
Other attractions include Agate and Nye Beach, Yaquina Head light house, Yaquina Bay State Park and light house, The Hatfield Marine Science Center,
Oregon Coast Aquarium, Newport Performing Arts Center, scenic drives along the coast, hikes in the rain forest, golf and much more.
