Overview

About the property

In-town 3 Bedroom house with 2 Baths, Sleeps 6.

* You will love relaxing at this charming in-town cottage located on Main Street, just a short, flat (no hills to climb up or down, important in Harbor Springs) walk to shops, beaches (two public ones) and the waterfront.

* This cottage is not just a rental property, but is our family cottage. Due to the school schedules of our children, it is now available in August and for Autumn and Winter getaways.

* There is a 12' x 12' covered and furnished front porch for dining, reading and people-watching in the summer. The large, private backyard has a beautiful patio that provides another outdoor living space.

* There are two bedrooms upstairs, one with a new queen-size bed, the other with two twins, and a full bathroom. Downstairs is a third bedroom with a new double bed and another full bathroom.

* The main living space is open to the kitchen and has a big bay window view of Main Street. The kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and new stove.

* We provide all sheets and towels, and the kitchen has most accessories you would need (blender, toaster, pots and pans, etc.)

Why Julie Ryckman chose Harbor Springs

I grew up summering and skiing in Harbor Springs at our family's cottage nearby. My husband and I wanted our own place so our future kids would be able to do the same.

What makes this house unique

The house had no central heating when we bought it! We gutted the first floor and rearranged the rooms, opening it up a bit and putting in a new kitchen and bath.

We think it dates back to about 1890. There was a railroad line that went down Main Street and crossed our lot to get back to Third Street. The old railroad cut diagonally across the yard with our house on one side, snug up against the lot line. We think that is part of why our yard is so rocky!

There used to a second house on the other side of the track, but it was at the back, facing Third Street (behind the existing garage). It was gone before we purchased the house, burned down by the local fire department as practice for the crew.(The house had reverted to the City due to non-payment of taxes.)

We love being so close to town. If you are without a car, you don't feel 'stuck' with no where to go. You can walk or bike to so many places in just a few minutes.

Simply beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This will be one of the most charming homes you'll ever get the opportunity to stay in. You're treated like family with all the personal touches that make up this fantastic home. It's walking distance to downtown Harbor Springs, the marina, the shops and/or an easy drive to Mackinaw City, Petoskey, Charleviox, so many places to visit, things to do. We look forward to our next visit, Thank You Julia!!

Wonderful cottage up north!!

  • 5 of 5

This is a picture perfect cottage. The owner has wonderful artwork through out the house and the decor and bedding are awesome. Close walk into town and each morning you can delight in a walk about Harbor Springs. The back gardens and the front porch offer additional areas to unwind. Julie is easy to work with even on short notice. We will be back soon!!

Too cute to believe cottage, cozy and adorable. Walk to town. Owners very accommodating.

  • 5 of 5

Very sweet cottage makes you really feel away in a little town that time forgot. Right on Main Street and convenient to town. Well outfitted for cooking at home. Lots of hot water for relaxing showers. Beautiful back patio for hanging after a bike ride or kayak around the harbor. Lovely cutting garden for fresh flower bouquets to enjoy inside. Really charming.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind review. I am so glad you enjoyed the garden- it's looking especially good this summer considering the local deer were feeding off of it in May!

WONDERFULLY CONVENIENT, CLEAN PROPERTY!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I came up for some much-needed rest and relaxation after losing two of our beloved family members. We had traveled from across the country and were thoroughly exhausted. This was the perfect place for us to rest and rejuvenate. The three of us will never forget the kindness this property owner extended with her lovely hospitality, especially on such short notice. Thank you for making your home available to us. Forget-Me-Not Cottage was such a special place both inside and out on the big front porch on the wicker furniture and out back in the beautiful garden with colorful and fragrant flowers in bloom. Harbor Springs is heavenly -- we enjoyed the super easy walk into the darling village, along the water, pastries from one of the cute bakeries, a Stafford's Pointer Boat tour, and dinner at the Pier. I can't wait for a return visit :)

Charming cozy house, perfect location, super clean

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly titled, this "cottage" is so charming and comfortable. The bedding and towels were luxury quality; honestly, I don't think I've rented a home more meticulously clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the backyard patio one sunny afternoon and drank our morning coffee on the covered porch. Located 2-3 blocks from the shops and Farmers Market, and the bike path leads right to the house. Couldn't have made a better choice for our Girls Getaway in Harbor Springs. Thank you!!!
