Awh....the smell of a campfire in a lush alpine valley with distant scenic views of El Captain and Yosemite Valley while in a hot tub on a private ranch where the buffalo roam.. The rate is $300 a day ! The whole agri-tourism experience, which means you can bring your family, your pets, your motor home and tents, your firearms and have the sense to be an American once again on a ranch, to be truly free! Cruise around the ranch with your family and love ones and sight see the ranch, the American Bison and nature with all its splendor! This is called agri-tourism and this is what you are paying for . No one nor no where else in the Yosemite area is offering this service. We are not a cheesy hotel nor a motel or a bed and breakfast. Those you can find easily elsewhere. In fact, if there is usage of a cabin this is entirely free while here on the ranch. As agri-tourism a $300/daily rate for your group of 12 or less allows you to access the many amenities on the ranch. Unlike most vacation rentals on this site they have too much neighbor congestion, and someone watching you and your family from every corner and the place looks like there will be no privacy on your vacation once again, not here! This is a large gated and private working historic American ranch nestled within a lush alpine valley of its own directly West of Yosemite' s main gate and entrance.
Private fishing, swimming, ATV and horseback riding, and there is nothing like tubing down a river on a sunny day with just your family. The ranch keeps Agri-tourism as its number one objective so you and your family can learn about what its like to be on a farm or ranch. You can collect your own fresh chicken eggs, harvest spices, and vegetables from the greenhouse, and feed the pigs your leftovers for the whole agri-tourism experience. We have roping lesions, clay pigeon shooting, and archery range, horseback riding, kayaking .. i say no more!!
Like 'Paul Bunyan' resourcefulness is next to godliness, all structures on this iconic ranch are handcrafted from whole natural logs and raw saw milled timber right off the land! This ranch is the perfect place to relax, fish, swim and peacefully unwind. One could even horseback ride down to a private spring fed waterfall or river and prospect for gold! We offer our guests to 'get unplugged' and privately experience the ranch! Please see our reviews!
'Here on this scenic ranch you will feel like your in the middle of Montana but, amazed as I drove out of the main entrance gate and was only 5.5 miles/less than 15 minutes from Mariposa's fine dining, shopping, and museums!' - (Andrew Leon of Orange County)
Your more of an American while out on a our private ranch, more free to do and become what you want, the lifestyle Americans were originally intended to live and fought for with all rights for freedom by our forefathers! . The owner is a self made pioneer in all senses of the word. Perhaps the last of his kind, the ranch has been privately owned since 1885 and since, purchased in 2000, Bronse has brought the ranch once in ruins back to its original pioneer and prime state. He has personally handcrafted real log cabins made off the land using raw lumber made from his sawmill, whole logs from dead standing timber, and natural granite rocks for massive fireplaces in each cabin. Your are welcome to camp, bring a motor home, hike around, and simply be free about and all its splendor while you are enjoying the great out doors here on the ranch!
Bronse purchased this cabin in 2000
The ranch is in a unique micro climate that is rare in nature, the landscape is green through August then blooms into an array of yellow flowers within its meadows in the fall. There is more to see and learn here in nature than one would imagine with daily sights of deer, turkey, wild boar, black bears, and herd of bison. There are also many vintage pioneer mining camps and equipment you and your family can see and learn about the 1849 Gold Rush! Like an natural and native history museum you can also see and learn about the Indian artifacts here on the ranch.
Everyone working on the ranch seems to be knowledgeable about the history of the ranch and the natural environment. The owner has hand built all the individual log cabin structures through hard work and true grit .... seems to be John Wayne like in character. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic when teaching folks about the ranch's natural and native environment if they wish to do so. He can show you anything from how to track a wild animal to how to eat edibles off the land. On the ranch you feel like your in the 'land of the free' and American with ultimate 'freedom to do what you want' to say the least!
The ranch is gorgeous, the owner Bronz is a genuine cowboy and genius. The ranch was a terrific experience as my husband and children learned how to be true Americans running free on this impressive ranch, truly gods country indeed! Words can't express how much we enjoyed our time while we all learned about the ranch. Our favorite thing was making friends with a baby donkey named Bam Bam and a friendly pigmy pig named Fat Albert. We toured the ranch in a 4 seater Honda pioneer and shot clays with our shotgun to say the least. Learned how to rope, throw horseshoes, drank beer BBQ steaks and played guitar near the campfire with the rest of family. Very private and peaceful yet close to town n Yosemite. We are coming back and so thankful for the helpful cowboys on the ranch and the knowledge shared by the owner. The history of the gold mines, native history and nature was like being on the set of the " History Channel." This is a must see experience for those who want something unique to remember for the restof your lives u can't find elsewhere! U feel like a ton of bricks have left your shoulders the whole time u are on the ranch learning and exploring like you are kid again!
Wow incredible, this place has a greenhouse, fresh eggs, access to a river and beach, a waterfall, tons of gold mining history, and miles of eye popping nature all on one ranch. My kids got away from the computer and were outdoors immediately shooting some archery and driving a new honda pioneer 4 seater utv! Stunning meadows surrounded by tall pine trees and totally amazingly crafted by hand rustic but lavish pioneer settler style log cabins spaced out thru the ranch about 1 mile apart. You feel private and in nature with incredible views of El Capitain and Mammoth Mountain in the back drop. Horses, donkeys and mules became our friends and we enjoyed being agritourist. A great family vacation and family educational experience all in one. A ton of respect for Bronz the owner he is a genius in his own right mind for master minding this development and allowing city slickers like my family to come out and enjoy! We didn't want to leave and the kids insist we go back to the ranch at least once a year! My boys say they prefer the ranch over commercialized Mariposa or Yosemite any day... this says it all!! Indeed not a hotel or cheesy bed and breakfast but better an true American mountain ranch!!
This old guy has been going to Bison Creek for years and has had a GREAT TIME! I have stayed at every cabin on the ranch. They each have distinct features, all are enjoyable in their own right. I like going down to the river and watching the day roll by. I can't imagine not finding it like one guy said. It's the water running at the base of the mountain, that's usually where a river is. Keep walking down hill and you will find it. Has a path and everything. Personally like the back cabin. It has views for miles and sunsets an old fisherman can dream about later. Bronse is a upstanding fellow. Never has done me or my family wrong and has always taken the time to teach us about the land and history of the area. Even invites us to a BBQ, good cooking skills that cowboy has. Very knowledgeable soul. True cowboy that guy is. Good Manners and shows respect. I enjoy hiking. I take my time and hang out with Ole Arrow. Good company for a dog. I like the fact that Bronse let me and the family have the run of the place. He is there when you need him and doesn't hover like some sissies need. Not a place for sissies for sure. It is run like a true ranch, always work to be done and I like that. It isn't some fancy dude ranch. Those cabins were built with blood sweat and hard work just like they used to do. Solid construction and beautiful interiors. Comfortable beds and wood fireplaces which is what I like on a cold night. Bison roam the land and it takes you back to a time when things were simpler. I can wait to go back again. Always feels better getting there than leaving. He even teaches the green guests what type of wood burns at what type of heat.Poor kid was sick as a dog once and came way past dark and chopped wood for me because it was supposed to be a cold one. Not many people care about people anymore and I sure appreciated it. I met a little girl at a restaurant in town when I was there last stay. She used the word magical. Said the ranch is it's own world. I guess that sums it up.
The website advertises a 4 bedroom+1.5 bathroom cabin that looked spacious enough to accommodate our group of 10. We thought Bronse was honest so we paid him cash for the 4 nights in full upon arrival as he requested. We soon realized that he has 3 cabins and gave us the smallest one way in back of the property, 1 bedroom+loft +1 bath that sleeps only 6! Well, make that 8 if you put 2 people in the dark, dingy chicken coop like he recommended. The fridge is a 1940s model and the pilot light needs to get relit when the front door opens. It never got cold and our 3 days’ worth of food would have spoiled if we didn’t have coolers. Our group loves nature and has done numerous camping trips so we were looking forward to a rustic experience with the “included” activities. However, half of us had to sleep on the floor and in the car (no, we didn’t opt for the chicken coop but maybe we’re just spoiled city slickers like Bronse said lol). When we asked for an ATV, Bronse said we had to make a reservation and hike the 2 miles over the hill to the office to pick one up! The “pond” on the map turned out to be a 6 inch deep drinking/bathing hole for the horses so forget fishing…the only thing we would’ve caught was dysentery. We followed Bronse’s vague instructions and made the tumultuous drive down to the “river” but never found one. Bronse’s vague caution to “bring a car with proper ground clearance” was a total understatement! The drive in to the cabin was really rough even for our SUV and truck (super rocky and thick brushes) so by the end of our trip both cars were pretty scratched up and we got a flat tire (Bronse blamed it on our driving skills). The last straw was when we asked him to bring propane for the BBQ grill and he told us that we were high maintenance and unappreciative, and rudely told us to “leave him alone” cuz he had food poisoning. Was there no other staff that could’ve brought it? I HIGHLY regret doing business with Bronse. He is deceitful and defensive, over promised and under delivered, and does not care about doing the right thing. Despite everything, our group volunteered to stay 2 nights with his agreement to refund us for the last 2 nights so that we can find a larger rental that would sleep everyone. We drove half an hour to his office to get our money and he refused to see us. Never got a dime back! BEWARE of doing business with this dishonest man!!!
My friends and I needed to get away for the weekend. We wanted to go somewhere we could relax, disconnect and have a little adventure. This place provided exactly that. There were plenty of hiking trails to explore and lots of animals to see. The donkeys liked to visit us in the morning so we would feed them apples while we enjoyed our breakfast. They provided us with an ATV so we had tons of fun exploring some of the more rugged out of the way trails. They also provided us with bows and arrows since our cabin was close to the shooting range. We all had so much fun that we didn't want to leave. Bronse and the guys at the ranch were wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back.
We had a great time at the ranch with several members of our family for a large family reunion in Midpines. Bronse and Armondo were very accommodating and friendly! It was so nice to just relax and enjoy the serene surroundings and unplug from everything. The teenagers enjoyed exploring the ranch and all of the animals hanging around. We did not want to leave and could have stayed permanently! Definitely worth the trip up the hill.
