About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, sleeps 14

More pictures on Facebook, search Turtle Cove Lake-Anna. Located on the priviate side of Lake Anna, Turtle Cove is a quiet retreat for anyone wishing to get

away from it all! The home is nestled in the woods with approximately 100' of waterfront directly on Lake Anna.

Since this home is located on the private or 'warm' side of Lake Anna, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the water early in spring and late into the fall. In August, the water does get warm, however, a short boat ride to cooler portions of the lake will help to cool you off on those hot summer days!

The private side of Lake Anna is considerably quieter than the public side. You will find that on most days, there is very little boat traffic and you will feel as though you 'own' the entire lake.

Restful, Peaceful & Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely long weekend that was totally relaxing. The guys went fishing every morning and the ladies just sat on the back deck enjoying conversation and the scenery. It was a lovely time and we are looking forward to going back again.

Nice house!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the house and our stay. The only factor that was not nice is that the house is too close to the power plant and water in the lake was 95 degrees. Not refreshing at all. But I guess it is expected in the end of the summer.

Tucked away treasure on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We had a large annual gathering of friends and truly enjoyed the house. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Having the separate barn house was perfect. Bunk room was great for singles (or would be good for kids). Kitchen was well stocked and having the gas grill on the back deck was ideal. Gorgeous view of the water and nice covered dock. Only negative was the water on this side of the lake was warmer than bath water so we couldn't get in. We went to the other cooler side of the lake via Sturgeons Creek Marina and had a blast! Thanks for the hospitality. We hope to return.

Great getaway. Private, fun.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The house is very nice and clean and spacious. We had a blast. The 'Barn' is such a great feature! Game room, a great place to gather at night. Our family used it every night. We could not believe how warm the Lake was! Love the property, with all the trees! We enjoyed the fire pit. We had some rain a couple of days, but we were still out by the water. As for the TV, we only turned it on twice, to watch a couple of movies. Everyone had such a good time. One thing though. It would have been nice to have a dock ladder to get in and out of the water. Other than that, great summer rental. Thanks!

Relaxing, private, and fun vacation

  • 5 of 5

This was a great location for the family to relax and enjoy a week of vacation. The lake was warm which took some time to get used to but was great! Having the dock to use was excellent! The owner provided us with a row boat, canoe, and paddle boat which we used extensively! We also ran into the owner in which he greeted us and wished us a great week which was much appreciated! Very private getaway and the house itself was more than enough room. The barn was a great addition to go to for games and other activities. The television provided limited channels but we came to the lake to get out instead of watching tv so that shouldn't a negative to anyone! Great overall stay and highly recommend!

For the most part, the property was convenient and accommodating.

  • 3 of 5

The property was adequate for our family of 14. There are a few maintenance issues that should be addressed to make the property better for future guests. The Barn has a strong mildew odor and dead bugs were a constant occurrence. The addition of the Pool Table, Foosball table and Darts was a welcome treat. The trash bin next to the Barn has a strong odor and had trash in it from a previous renter. The rear deck has pickets that are almost a foot apart and is not safe for small children. Although there was a convenient and well-stocked in-unit laundry, our whites and colors came out badly stained. The apparently new laminate flooring was dirty when we arrived, and so were the ceiling fans, to which we gave a cursory cleaning to limit the allergic reactions of some of our family members. Though we brought an abundance of our own paper products and plastic utensils, we enjoyed using the kitchen dishes, small appliances and on occasion, the dishwasher. However, the shock of the dead mouse falling onto the stove top when I reached for items from the top cabinet caused me to imagine there were more!

The view of the lake, though not without beauty, with various water birds coming and going, was overwhelmingly foul smelling when we arrived. We skimmed several dead fish from the shoreline, both in and out of the water, and watched as a group of workers fished several more from the cove as well. Because of this, we could not swim from the boat dock (instead, we drove to the State Park) and it took away any desire to take the boats out, too. We wonder if this is a seasonal problem. We counted as many as 14 turkey vultures at a time, apparently looking for fish carcasses, on the dock and boathouse. After the rain washed away the stagnation on the shore, we braved a fire in the fire pit and delighted in a marshmallow roast and made the best s-mores.

Again, the hand soaps, toilet tissue and hand sanitizer and bed linens were generously provided, and very much appreciated, but we wondered why the cleaning team arrived nearly an hour before our agreed upon checkout time.

Finally, we really enjoyed the amenities that are close by, for example, the Food Lion was only 5 miles down the road! In addition, the customer service was responsive and appreciated. The mini golf and arcade was a teenage favorite. In spite of this we would not recommend this property to friends and relatives because it did not meet all of our cleanliness expectations.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate knowing how our guests feel about the house. I'm very sorry that your stay was not up to your standards since we do work hard to keep the home in good condition. I'm sure that experiencing the dead fish in the lake was quite unpleasant. We have only seen that happen one other time in the 10 years that we've owned the house, so I'm sorry that it happened during your stay. As for the other issues, again, I'm sorry that you were not pleased with your stay and sincerely hope your next vacation, wherever it may be, is more enjoyable for you.
