Located just six miles west of Franklin, this house in the southern Appalachaian mountains is a great getaway for a weekend, a week or even a season. This was our family home for over 20 years. It has recently been remodeled with fresh paint, hard-wood floors in the living area and new carpet in the bedrooms. The view from the front deck is absolutely fabulous and creates a sense of openness that really sets this house apart from many mountain rentals. Easy access is a rare and added bonus. (only 1 minute off of U.S. 64)
The house is completely furnished, including tableware, bed linens, towels, etc. . The living room is furnished in navy blue leather. Sleeping accommodations for
up to 6 people are available. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in the mountains in a clean and comfortable home with room for the entire family, this is the place. We do not solicit comments for this site from our guests but we often receive notes or cards at check out and have recently added a few of those comments to this site. Over half of our business comes from guests who return year after year. We take pride not only in the house but in making our guests feel welcome and at home.
Check-in time: 3:00 p.m. (early check-in usually available)
Check-out time:11:00 a.m. (all times Eastern)
My wife and I moved to the Franklin area in 1984 and have served in the Macon County School system ever since. I am a retired principal and have returned to my first love, classroom teaching, at Macon Early College in Franklin. Laura teaches 4th grade at Cartoogechaye Elementary School. We both still find the teaching profession extremely rewarding and feel fortunate to have worked our entire careers in one system.
We both enjoy our summers and spend a great deal of time working at the rental property which we've just expanded with the purchase of some adjacent acreage.
Lewis Gary Brown purchased this house in 1990
This property is unique in a couple of ways. The view overlooking the old Killian farm, and the mountains beyond is simply beautiful. Andy's View is easily accessible, located on Setser Road only a minute off of U.S. 64 West. The driveway is paved all the way to a covered carport. The owners take special pride in keeping the house spotlessly clean and the grounds well maintained.
The view, the accessibility, and the convenience to the Nantahala National Forest (only 5 minutes away) and the Appalachian Trail (only 7 minutes away) add to the uniqueness of Andy's View. The tiny, beautiful and soothingly tranquil Saint John's Episcopal Church is only a short walk away.
Well it's time to leave your beautiful place. What a View! We have been very busy with the family reunion but sat even if for only a few minutes on the porch each night. It seems we have the same taste as we have the exact same couches and rocker recliner at our house in Fla. We left a thank you gift on the kitchen table....Thank you for everything...all the nice touches.
My husband, myself, my sister and nephew rented this beautiful home this past Christmas and had a wonderful time. It is so peaceful and Mr Gary the owner was a pleasure to get to know and do business with. We are hoping to rent this home again this coming October if it's open, wanting to share this great get away with some precious friends of ours.
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home 10/23- 10/27 it was the perfect place for the 4 of us to enjoy much needed time away.
We enjoyed coffee each morning on the deck watching the sunrise. Fall is our favorite time of the year and the colors were beautiful. God's beautiful creation.
We went to Murphy on Monday and visited with family.
Tuesday we went to Wayah Bald which was breathtaking. A must see while in the area.
Afternoons we enjoyed the house and relaxed. Walks around the area and to the beautiful little Church up the road.
Wednesday was a trip to Highlands and Cashiers.
We would love to return and stay in this home again.
The owners were so sweet and helpful. Thank you again for all your help.
May God bless you both.

We enjoyed our weekend! The kitchen was well-stocked so we were able to enjoy meals at home over-looking a gorgeous view from the porch. And the furniture was very comfortable so we were able to relax each evening!
My son and I stayed here the week of Christmas in 2015. It was perfect! The owners are so kind and helpful. Although there was heavy rain the entire week, the home is so cozy we didn't mind at all staying in and cooking most of the week. Will definitely be staying here again! Very clean, well maintained and definitely beautiful.
At the honor and graciousness of my Dear Cousin, I was able to spend a few days off of the grid. And it was such a wonderful thing. This nice comfortable cottage has everything anyone needs for a week away, a weekend away or for however long and for whatever reason. The remote area (but not far from a main road) was great. The small city of Franklin, NC is all anyone needs for some nice rest. The country and farm land itself is simply beautiful. The cottage is perfect. Has a nice open kitchen and living area. It has everything you would want for any cooking needs. It has a wonderful deck for morning coffee's and evening relaxation. The owner was great to check on us. I'd recommend this to all hikers, bikers, hitchhikers, romantic folks, fun folks, children, fun seekers, a rest away from it all (it does have internet access.....), a change of pace, or for whatever reason you may choose. The pictures are real.....the feeling you will not know until you get there and wind down..... ENJOY! We will be visiting again!
Our stay at Andy's View was wonderful. We originally booked for five nights, but called at the last minute to stay a day early and they were able to work it out!! There were three couples and we were on three motorcycles and one car. The home accommodated our needs to a tee!! Carport perfect for motorcycles and the views were great from the deck and the living area. Gary and Laura were gracious hosts and even came by twice during the week to sweep up the pine straw from the driveway. This was so helpful for our driving in and out on the motorcycles!! What was amazing we didn't call and request it; they called and said they were coming because they noticed it needed to be done. This is the perfect location to stay as we were able to travel out each day to a new ride in the mountains!! We will be coming back to stay here because of the gracious hosts and their nice home away from home!! Cathy and Ron from Mobile, AL 10/2015
