2 bedroom, 2 bath condo overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Brand new kitchen this year with new cabinets and granite counter top. The extra 'den' has been converted to a 2nd bedroom with double bed. Sleeper sofa in the

living room. Queen sized double bed in the master bedroom. Ocean front view from the private balcony. Unit L-236 is a second floor condo; has elevator.

HDTV with DVR and DVD that are HDMI capable for your PS3, Xbox, or PC. Laundry facilites available on the lower floor. Game room. Elevator. No pets please.

About Jack Beyer

My wife and I were one of the firsts to purchase a condo at APATB. We raised our 3 boys there and continue to use it ourselves in the Fall and Spring. We currently live a block from the beach in a small Florida town.

We are back from a most enjoyable week at your beach place. My wife and Sheltie already especially miss those long morning shell-gathering walks. The weather was very cooperative, and we always enjoy dining and shopping in the neighboring towns.

Rae was good to meet us and she even came back after the power had gone out to try to restore our cable service. (It turned out to be some equipment outside that the cable guys had to fix.)

Moe checked us out promptly and returned our deposit.

I might suggest you include some information for other renters that they don't take part in the Wednesday towel exchange down the hall but need to call the housekeeping office to exchange towels midweek.

We found it all quite agreeable and would certainly like to come back again in the future ... perhaps next year later in the fall. (They've already reserved a week in June, 2010. Jack)

The Place At The Beach (APATB) is an exclusive, gated, complex with private security personnel on duty at all times. Numerous youth activities plus optional day camp. Small convenience shop on premise. Located in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, APATB is easy to get to. By car just take Hwy 70 east from I-95. Cheerful, sunny condo with nice cottage decor Ocean view and sunsets on the balcony.

We enjoyed our stay in this condo the month of April. It is sunny and cheerful decor. It has an ocean view from the living/dining area and lovely sunsets from the balcony. The kitchen is updated with new appliances, cupboards and countertop tho has little counter space. It is in the hallway between the bedroom and living room and is well equipped. Hideabed is not comfortable but the beds are. The condo is in a great complex with boardwalk to beautiful beach, heated indoor pool (outdoor pool opened our last week) and many outdoor activities. GREAT VALUE during our stay!

Fun Fall Getaway

Cozy unit for two families with pre tween children. The view overlooking the ocean from the balcony at sunset was amazing! We had all the comforts of home, linens were clean and soft. The kids really enjoyed the indoor pool. The beach was only steps away and we spent most of our time, shelling, fishing, and building sandcastles. Fort Macon and the pier are very close, walking distance if you wanna stretch your legs. We truly enjoyed our time with good friends, making memories, and special thanks to Jack for making it all happen!

Perfect for our family of four!

We had an awesome vacation! The owner was very personable and quick to respond to any questions or issues that we encountered. The condo was perfect size for family of 4 with easy access to the pool and beach. We will be coming back soon, and I can't wait. Thank you Mr. Beyer for the memories!

Wonderful time

We enjoyed our time at Atlantic beach and the condo had couple minor issues but didn't get in our way of our vacation. The condo was nice good view of ocean and short walk to beach. We had a nice quiet pleasant stay only wish we could have stayed longer. Would definitely go again.Thank you Mr Beyer for making our vacation great!!! God Bless!

A great resort, but unit needs new cleaning company

Our family of four (two adults, two children) stayed in this unit for a week. We had a rough start as the unit had not been cleaned when we arrived. We drove 7+ hours and arrived at 3:45 (check in was at 4). We were tired and the kids were in need of rest but when we walked into the unit it was very dirty. It had not been cleaned at all since the last guests (food on tables and floors, dirty bedsheets and bath towels, dirty appliances, dirty showers and toilets, food in refrigerator, etc). The front desk advised us that the cleaning company had received the keys at 11 am but had not returned them. They said the same thing happened to the previous weeks guests when they arrived. They told us we needed to contact the owner. I called Mr. Beyer and he confirmed this had happened the previous week with the same cleaning company. He said we should enjoy the amenities while he tried to contact the cleaning company. I explained to him that we had traveled 7+ hours, had a car full of perishable food from the grocery store, and two children that needed to rest. He offered to rent a motel room nearby for the night. We agreed that if the unit could be cleaned in one hour we would rather wait. It would have been difficult to stay somewhere else for only one night and then move everything again the next day. An hour later the unit was cleaned (with the exception of the refrigerator and freezer that still contained spilled food - we cleaned it ourselves). Mr. Beyer did say he was planning to give the cleaning company a third chance after our issue.

The unit overall was okay for the four of us. It was cheaper than some of the comparable units. The master bedroom TV required a remote to change the channels but neither remote in the unit worked for this TV (even after trying to program them). The ceiling in the master bathroom was peeling onto the floor and in the shower during our stay. I assume this was from general wear/moisture. Not major issues, just worth noting.

We did enjoy the resort but would likely stay in a different unit next time. The pool and water slide were great and the grounds were kept clean. We were happy to see security around the resort making sure everyone was enjoying their time. The game room could use some updating but, overall, we were very happy with the resort & our stay.

Owner's Response: I wish I could say her trip had a better beginning. Unfortunately, this guest was accurate in her comments. I apologized for the problem and it is being addressed with the cleaning company. I give them a 5 hour window to get our unit is spic and span shape. For the last two weeks, they've dropped the ball. Three strikes and they're out. As for the ceiling in the master bath, the management company for the resort says a guest in the unit above had water issues which caused problems with the ceiling of our unit. This is being remedied this week by the resort.

BED BUGS and horrible customer service!

Upon arrival the unit seemed fairly clean besides the bed spreads and shower curtains. We did noticed that the microwave door was cracked and broken as well as one of the stove burners was unusable because it had no support. I wish I could say that this was the extent of the not so good because we could have and did overlook these minor things in our opinion but it wasn't. We had booked this unit for a three week stay and about a week into it I noticed I was starting to get bites all over. Just thinking it was the gnats or black flies that were out at that time of the year I didn't think anything of it. These bites continued to keep coming and kept me up for sometimes hours every night. I finally did some research and looked up BED BUGS. My bites and 90% of the pictures I was seeing were the same. So we did a search around the beds. We found dead bed bugs. We then contacted the unit owner Mr. Jack Beyer with a question if he had ever had and bed bugs and what he was will to do. My question was never answered and he said he could come spray the unit the next day. When asked what he was going to spray with he said Home Depot product. Since this would not cover our personal belongings of luggage and clothing and was unsafe for people to stay in unit we asked to be moved and our belongings cleaned. He refused and changed his mind to a professional spray which was still unsafe for people to be in the unit and didn't cover our belongings. We then asked for a refund to make up for the horrible stay, our stay being cut short, and our belongings that were needing to be cleaned. He refused once again and said he would compensate from the time I started getting bit. I was willing to compromise with that approximately 2/3 of our stay then he changed his mind again to he would give me a 1/3 refund and said to let him know if I wanted that and hung up the phone. So we then had to take all clothing ourselves and wash and dry everything as well as leave our baggage that we couldn't clean there and travel 17+ hours home. When contacted when we got home Mr. Beyer did not return my e-mail. Still in the process of trying to get some money back to try and pay for our personal thing. Not a vacation I want to do again anytime soon.

Owner's Response: The unit was rented twice in February, no bed bugs reported. Rented all of March. No bed bugs. 11 days in April and again no bed bugs. THREE DAYS before the renter was to leave from a 3 week rental, she writes about bed bugs and demands a full refund. Where did the alleged bed bugs come from? I offered to have a professional exterminator inspect and, if needed, spray with a low toxic product available at most hardware stores. It would have required the renters to be out of the unit for 2 to 4 hours. It would have killed everything. I also asked the resort if another unit was available to move the renter to. They did not. At that point I offered the renters a 1/3 refund which I felt was generous since they only had 3 days left. They declined. Since they have left, the unit was sprayed professionally on May 5 and again on May 19. This is on top of the monthly spraying done for all the units in the complex. My daughter stayed there 3 days last weekend. There are no bed bugs.

Additional information about rental rates

Cleaning and linen fee $100

For the last nine years we have not increased our rental rates, but this year we must. Discount for repeat guests and guests booking by 12/31/2015. There is a mandatory cleaning fee of $100. We make nothing on the cleaning fee. It is passed 100% to the cleaning and linen contractors. We provide bath towels and linens. We are at least $300 below marker for a similar unit.

$300 is due upon reservation. The balance is due two week prior to check in. We accept PayPal and personal check. Credit cards can be used via PayPal.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 7 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 14 days before arrival date.
