This 2 bedroom 2 bath ground level home with a glassed in Florida room, is on a boating canal with only 5 minutes at idle, 1/4 mile to open water. Canal has 50 feet of concrete seawall with bumper to protect boat hulls. The Canal is 30 feet wide and averages 8 feet deep.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need; dishes, (for outdoor as well as indoor) pots and pans, baking dishes, linens, toaster, blender, hand mixer, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher, and very large pantry. The dining table seats 6.
The master bedroom has a queen bed, the guest bedroom has twin beds. The second bath is located off the Florida room which has a queen sleeper. The Florida room has reed blinds on the inner and outer windows for privacy at night. The home is very comfortable with an open concept and is tropically decorated.
Outside is a sitting area dockside with a table, chairs, umbrella, gas BBQ (propane supplied), and fish cleaning station. Also a kayak and bikes to ride.
I provide a FREE daily family pass to Bahia Honda State Park Beach. Its also good for Fort Zackary Taylor beach in Key West.
There are key deer that roam freely and visit the property several times a day. Makes for great pictures! Iguanas hang out on the dock occasionally and Great White Heron sit up on the davits and watch for fish in the canal. They also usually show up for an evening snack when you're cleaning fish.
This a very quiet nice community with water access at your back door and room for a boat if you desire.I particularly liked the central location to the main areas I wanted to visit.20-25 mins from Key West and about the same to Marathon where the Bahia Honda state park is located. Fully equipped and all of the amenities necessary for a really enjoyable vacation.
First time spending 2 weeks at Capt. Ron's properties. Have done one week, but this enabled us the time to enjoy our family from Michigan. The Florida room gave us the extra room we needed. The place is always clean & there is no lack of towels & linens & kitchenware. We all loved sitting in back to eat drink & talk. Of course our frequent visitors, the Key deer were enjoyed by all. Capt. Ron is always available & pleasant to work with.
This was our first vacation home rental and we were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised at all this home had to offer. The home was clean and well equipped. When Ron told us we didn't need to bring anything but our toothbrush, he wasn't lying! We had everything we needed, right down to the soft towels and functioning blender. We enjoyed working with Captain Ron, as well. He was pleasant, professional, responsive and very accomodating.
The Carribean Retreat is conveniently located to many Keys attractions. It was an easy drive to both Key West and to Islamorada. We kept our 18' flats boat in the canal out back and were able to gain access to both the Gulf and the Atlantic within minutes. The quiet No Name Bridge boat ramp was just a few blocks away. As much as there is to do out and about, there is just as much to do right at home. We enjoyed having dinner on the back patio overlooking the canal. We also enjoyed taking in the local wildlife including the key deer, blue crab and iguanas that we often found in our back yard.
We would absolutely stay here, or at any of Captain Ron's other properties, in the future.
We had a great time at capt Ron's place. It was very clean and in a peaceful neighborhood. Would definitely go back again!
My family vacationed in Capt'n Ron's home and had the most wonderful time of our lives....From the minute Capt'n Ron met us at the home to show us around, we knew it would fit us perfectly. The first thing he did was warn the kids about the Pirates around the island and to Beware!.....Even the patch on his eye kept them wondering... The house was very clean, comfortable and contained everything you would need for the time we were there and he accepted our small pets too. He even gave the kids some styrofoam buoys to paint. The key deer came to visit us every day and evening in the yard and were as friendly as dogs.... We were able to pet them and take plenty of pics to bring home.... The Iguanas also visited daily. We rented a boat while we were there so every day we were out and the canal had no problems getting in or out. We had fun fishing, playing with the Dolphins in the water, going to Munson Rock to snorkle (great) and finding some lobsters to show the kids. I would rent from the Capt'n again with no problem... Thanks for the hospitality Capt'n Ron and we hope to visit again sooner than later... Rick and family...
Our family stayed here and Captain Ron was the most hospitable person to deal with. He greeted us at the door to show us around and we immediately noticed the house was very clean, comfortable and stocked with everything you need. Our small dogs were as as welcome as we were. He told us the story of the Pirates and for the kids to beware! Then we were off on our own and had the best time... We rented a boat and the canal was very adequate and easy to get out of to the channel. The deer and the Iguanas were everywhere and the kids have loads of pics with them. Captain Ron even had them paint their own Styrofoam buoys. The biggest advantage of Big Pine is having the Winn Dixie just down the road. I will definitely love to go back and I'm ready NOW! Highly recommended. Thanks Capt'n Ron for everything!
