About Ian Petry

I have owned and lived in the Harrison Modern since 1997. I have a passion for architecture and interior design, you will see this in every aspect of the building. Originally born in New Zealand, I have traveled the world and the US extensively, I believe that Seattle is one of the most beautiful cities on the planet. My back ground is in Tourism Marketing, I worked for the New Zealand Tourism Board in Los Angles for 8 years before moving to Seattle in 1994. I have a love of travel and new experiences - Whenever I away I always stay at vacation apartments, as you get a real feel for the destination you are visiting.

Ian Petry purchased this apartment in 1997

If you are not traveling outside the city you won't need a car, everything is within an easy walk or a short bus ride. Within 3 short blocks of the building are a a number of great restaurants, shops and cafes, 2 supermarkets and 3 wonderful city parks. Capitol Hill is a rich, diverse, neighborhood with multi million mansions and a wonderful farmers market within blocks of each other. One thing I am sure about... You will love the location. I have done a lot of traveling and believe that Seattle and the Pacific North West is one of the most beautiful, livable, areas in the North America.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, Location, Location... Capitol Hill is the most convenient neighborhood to downtown Seattle. from our building it is a lovely 15-20 minute walk to downtown. Great Place to Stay in Seattle

  • 5 of 5

The Harrison Modern has an excellent location near lots of transportation options; easy walking distances to restaurants, entertainment, stores, parks, and beautiful views; and a decent hike to downtown. It is a safe area and relatively quiet for a city. We were there for possibly the hottest August in Seattle for recent years and the fans and bedroom air conditioner provided needed relief. The nicely appointed kitchen, comfy living room, efficient dining area, plentiful storage, and huge bed makes it feel like home. Attention to detail is positively evident.

Great location but noisy and hot

  • 3 of 5

The apartment is located in one of the best areas of Seattle and convenient to everything. The unit has everything you would need and worked for our group of 3 adults. The apartment was on the upper floor with lots of stairs, so if that's not for you choose the lower apartments. The apartment is on the corner of a really busy and noisy street so be sure to pack ear plugs (things quiet at 11 pm but start up again at 5 am) & if Seattle is expecting hot weather you might consider a hotel. The only a/c is in the bedroom so during our stay we hit record temperatures making the rest of the apartment unusable.

Great stay at a great property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Ian was a great host and his apartment/condo was perfect for a family of 5. Located within a less than 5 minute walk to the Link which was a quick ride to the heart of downtown. Grocery and restaurants were also within an easy walk of the property. Would not hesitate to book again.

Comfortable and wonderfully located

  • 5 of 5

Loved my stay here! space was bigger than what pictures showed. Only very small issue was the WHOLE APT did not have AC, only the bedroom, which was totally fine, but like to know what you are getting yourself into before committing. Overall wonderful experience!

Great location, but...

  • 3 of 5

Really? Recycled soaps? I've never paid this much to stay in a place to arrive and find that the soaps in the kitchen and bathroom had all been recycled from prior guests...And how long had the open box of Triscuits been in the cupboard??

The location was great; the condition of the apartment was ok (but some of the furniture and for sure, the air conditioner, had seen better days)...

Maybe we're just "no surprises" hotel people.

Owner's Response: I am glad you liked our location. To clarify; we do not use recycled soaps, we do use liquid soap products in large containers as our average stay is 7 days and provide a kitchen stocked with condiments for guests use in cooking - unlike hotels. The air-conditioner is 2 years old.
