Wonderful casa with everything we needed right in the centre of Merida

  • 5 of 5

We stayed two weeks and loved our little casa. We were less than a block away from the Paseo de Montejo which meant we could walk to everything we wanted to see and do in Centro. At the same time, the hustle and bustle seemed far away when we returned for supper and an evening of recovery from all of the activity. One of the things we most enjoyed in the evenings were browsing all of the books, particularly the ones about natural history. We were very conscious that people had lived here recently and collected many fascinating pictures and furnishings.

We had a rental car and were able to get out of the city in all directions to go birdwatching, exploring the many Mayan ruins within 2 or 3 hours of the city and visiting Hacienda Sotuta de Peon to see how hennequin is made and hear the history of that particular estate.

We are neophytes in mainland Mexico so it was a learning experience in countless ways. Part of the fun was realizing how little Spanish we know and how warm and inviting the local residents are even when communication is largely by hand signals. We also got to learn about their drainage system and realize just how spoiled we are in Canada when it comes to being able to flush all sorts of things away without danger of system overload!

Mina and Ignacio were very responsive and gracious hosts. Thank you for a great stay!

The house is exactly as advertised. It is a great location.

  • 4 of 5

The house is great for a couple or a family. It is centrally located and one can get all the necessities without having a car. Mina and her husband, Ygnacio, are very attentive and answer inquiries immediately. For those who are not fluent in Spanish, the owners are fluent in English.

Genuine Merida

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five (three small kids) spent a week here during the hot Merida summer. The hosts are a friendly local family who were very responsive and pleasant to work with. Home has two air conditioned bedrooms, a well appointed kitchen, dining room for 6, living room, and entry. A highlight for our kids is the pool in back; we used it each day after our adventures to cool off.

The neighborhood is quiet and just off the pleasant Paseo Montejo (good for evening strolls); this neighborhood is north of the bustling tourist center, but still has many of the best restaurants in walking distance.

The home has an authentic Merida vibe; it feels like a home, not a hotel.

Awesome house in an awesome location

  • 5 of 5

Casa Mango is about 10 minutes by walk to downtown Merida. It's pretty spacious and well furnished. The garden and the private swimming pool are bonuses. To top it all, the hosts were awesome!

Wonderful place to stay in Merida

  • 5 of 5

In February of 2016 my husband and I spent 10 days in Merida and stayed at Casa Mango. You couldn't ask for a more convenient location or more helpful and accommodating people to rent a vacation home from. The house was clean, cheerful and comfortable and the street, though central to everything we enjoy in busy Merida, was very quiet. We enjoy art galleries, performances, restaurants and markets and all were within walking distance. We had really wanted to stay there again this winter, the date above would have been our arrival date, but illness suddenly delayed our travel. As soon as we can we are going to get ourselves back to this wonderful city and only hope that Casa Mango is available when we do!!
