This cabin was such a delightful find. Very comfortable- I slept so well. The kitchen was fully stocked- she even had coffee beans there for us to grind. While in the kitchen, looking out the window, it felt like you we in a tree house. There are a lot of steps to go up from where you park your car so wear comfy shoes. As you are going up the steps you are completely surrounded by trees. My favorite part of this home was the deck. Plenty of seats, a fire pit, a soaker tub, little lights that come on automatically at night. It was so peaceful and welcoming. Thank you Janea! I hope to have a chance to come back.

Nice little getaway!!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our time at Tranquility Base. Janae was a very gracious hostess and provided everything one would need/want to be comfortable. Spent some great family time together and enjoyed the barbecue. As stated, the cabin is elevated and there are roughly 30 or so steps to get to the front door. A little rough when carrying luggage or groceries but hey, you only need to do that a couple of times right? Overall, this was a very relaxing and easy experience and would definitely recommend to small groups. Thank you Janae.

Great little cabin in the woods!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this cute little cabin for our family of 5 for a weekend and had a great time! We have 3 small children and the space worked out fine - it would be tight if the kids were older. It's tucked way back in the beautiful California Coastal redwoods - but we found the location without any trouble (great directions provided by the owner :) We enjoyed the hot tub (but it's small, not for the whole group at once!) The fun, funky ambiance is great - and the cabin has a lot of amenities that made it really enjoyable. Wi-fi access was included and easy to use. There wasn't cell phone service so that was important. It has a small kitchen with everything you need if you want to cook in, but you are close enough to Scotts Valley and Felton to eat out at some great spots. The water pressure is low, and the shower-head short - so that made showering for our 6' 2" dad tough. Overall we had a GREAT time and would recommend a stay at Tranquility Base :)

Owner's Response: Good feed back about the shower head. Now that the drought is over, a hand-held hose style shower head may be in order. The water pressure just makes you appreciate real city 35 gallon per minute flow back at home. Once upon a time we had a large Water Pik brand massage style shower head in there. Sadly enough the water pressure was not enough to make the pulse feature work.

Santa Cruz Mountain getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4, two adults and two teens, had a lovely stay right after Christmas 2015. It's a bit of a windy drive to get to the property, but then it's a quiet stay. We happened to glance at the "things to do" coffee table book that is in the house, and incorporated some of the stops into our visit. We enjoyed The Bigfoot Museum in Felton and the egg vending machine in Aptos, after reading about them in the book. We also went zip lining, walked among the redwoods at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, took a train ride, visited the beach boardwalk, watched the new Star Wars movie, and got a shirt and slice at Pizza My Heart. Santa Cruz and the mountains are such a great area.
