Tranquility Base is a cozy cottage at the end of a quiet country road bordered by Lompico Creek, nestled deep in the heart of a redwood rain forest.
This little gem is a haven for writers and anyone seeking a rejuvenation of the spirit. The fresh air is the elixir. The giant trees give shade and solace. The ferns and the creek frame the picture. Hiking/biking trails abound in this canyon inside of a canyon. Your mountain hideaway is just a jaunt away from the the bustling Bay Area. This haven is a 25 minute drive from the city of Santa Cruz. NOT a beach front venue.
Each of the two bedrooms has a queen bed, cable TV and a private entry door as well as a door common with with the house. Each bedroom closet has a folding futon and bedding . There is also a roll away bed and travel playpen.
Everything was perfect at this cabin, you will have a perfect day / night over there, I took only 1 day and night and wished I could stay more but I was in a rush, this is preferable for 2 nights, you will enjoy every corner of the cabin, it is secluded with a creek crossing the road and with a beautiful rain forest surrounding the cabin, just amazing, 5/5 stars, excellent 120% recommended!.
I have stayed at numerous vacation rental locations - not only is this the most thoughtfully planned, decorated, and prepared home I have stayed in, the host, Janea, was the most helpful of any host I have encountered.
The weather was very hectic before and during our stay, and Janea did all she could to assist us and make sure our travels were safe. Any time I reached out to her, she got back to me right away with useful information.
Do yourself a favor and book yourself a stay at this one-of-a-kind, peaceful retreat.
Tranquility Base was everything I was hoping for! Living in SF I wanted "a cabin in the woods with a hot tub" and was super surprised to actually find one! This property is nestled in between beautiful, tall redwoods and was super cozy and warm. It was very clean and Janea, the host, made it very welcoming for us. She was absolutely great and worked with us to reschedule due to a month of crazy storms in the area. She made sure to keep us updated on rain and road conditions and I couldn't have appreciated that more. If you are looking for a quick get away from the city, please do yourself a favor and spend a night here!
The hosts should definitely update the pictures and description of the property, because it's difficult to appreciate how great of a little cabin this is!
We came only for one night but everything was set up and ready to go when we arrived, and we were able to use & enjoy the kitchen, patio BBQ, main area, and hot tub and it was extremely cozy and isolated.
It's a really unique place with all kinds of nicknacks and character - if you're on the fence and only need two bedrooms, this one is a winner!
Janea's place is cozy, quirky charming, full of helpful hints and directions, clean and inviting as a relative's long lost tiny cabin in the woods. There are many interesting decor items and lots of books to grab attention, but the real attention grabber is the canopy of trees surrounding you, an entire old paned huge window filled with beautiful pine trees when you are in the family room, a sea of green before you.
There is one convenient parking spot on the one-lane road, just ahead of the front steps and on the right side, and turn around is very easy just a short distance further up the road. The house is on a road that follows a creek, in a wooded canyon that would probably be refreshingly cool in summer.
We stayed in December; it was cold (a low of 28 degrees F that night!) and it took a while for the place to heat up, but with the stove heater (which is connected to the house thermostat), and with a bedroom portable heater on, in a few hours it was really warm. We did not heat the extra bedroom, but I'd imagine on a less cold night, that would have heated as well in like timing. (Only one bedroom heater can run at a time; if cold, start the heat by mid-afternoon for evening comfort.) It was wintry-cold enough that the hot tub was not inviting, not quite warm enough, but that is probably not the case on warmer nights. We loved the adventure and welcome of staying there. And the town of Felton was a world away but near the Bay Area. It made a great memory and a fantastic getaway.
This home has it all. There is unique lighting and art, music, outdoor places to relax. It was better than expected and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We will definitely return to this treasure in the redwoods.
